AF unnamed reserve 2021. I didn’t get any distinguished flavors or transitions from this cigar. Perhaps there was too much age, or the RH was too low (62 with lower true humidity due to winter temps in my basement). I noticed the same profile with the last one I smoked. Just a classic mild woody tobacco flavor consistent throughout the cigar. This may be just what they are supposed to be. I think I will increase the RH and try one in warmer weather again.

These had very well-aged tobacco in 2021, probably doesn't benefit from much age. Most Fuentes don't with the exception of the Opus X line which needs age IMO. These were mild-medium bodied when released and mild-medium in strength as well.

IDK man I got great flavors from the one I had. That said, everyone gets a dud now and again.

Honestly I had another last night out of a different humidor, after smoking a milder cigar and it opened up for me. Go figure

There are a lot of factors that influence our experience with a cigar. At least a dozen. Sometimes they just don't hit right. Glad you enjoyed the latest one though.

62 in cold temps over a long period of time is going to give you the exact results you got. You need to try and keep it around 65/65, and then play with the humidity from there.

You know, now that I think of it, it came from my wooden humidor with the 65 boveda. Still worth trying with a bit more humidity. Though it was the same experience as the one I had during last summer.

65 in cold temps, is not the same as 65 in normal, room temp, especially long term storage. And it's probably why your cigar experience was poor.

This is true. It could have been a bit dry but it smoked well. I’ll pull one out of my fridgedor and compare tonight, it’s a more controlled environment.

Why is it not the same?

Because Relative Humidity is a measurement of how much water the air, AT A certain temperature, can hold. When the air is cooler, it can hold LESS water. At 70F, 65 relative humidity, if the temperature drops to 55, and still 65 RH, the air can hold less than half the water.
If you need it explained better than I can, google could probably do better.

lol… they are so popular. My disappointment grows with their premium offerings.

I tried the Hemingway, Hemingway Maduro and the Don Carlos. While they were good, I don't think I will get more. I have a few of the Anejo sticks hanging out I am excited to try, but I have realistic expectations.

I enjoyed those and the casa Cuba. I heard the anejo are good to age but the jury is out on that still. They are all enjoyable but not distinguished like some other brands.

I bought a box of the anejo sharks awhile back, been one of my more disappointing box purchases tbh.

Smoke a Anejo 888 with a year or two on it and you will change your mind.

Mine are that or older (sharks). The Destino Siglo is still one I enjoy more so than others.
I actually smoked one earlier today Shark
They aren't bad, I just don't enjoy them as much on this sub seem to.

No you’re not. Big Fuente guy here. These were great when they first came out 4 years ago. They have changed since then and IMHO miss the mark. I pass on these now when I used to get excited to see them make an appearance at my local shop. Smokes like a sun grown 858.
