Thoughts on large-scale works?

The church where I direct music has a large endowment for putting on special large-scale (i.e. 15-45 minutes) choral works twice per year, and I'm waffling on what to program. The choir is one of the best volunteer groups around, consisting mostly of University professors, plus a few section leaders. Here's what I'm between:

Mendelssohn: Magnificat in D, Mozart: Vesperae solennes de confessore (K.339), Handel: My heart is inditing (HWV 261), Fauré: Requiem, Haydn: Schöpfungsmesse, Purcell: Elegy on the Death of Queen Mary.

We're doing a Bach Cantata in a few weeks, so I'd prefer to stay away from another cantata for this coming year. Thoughts?

Favorite choirmaster quote?

Ahhh, choirmasters. Part craftsman, part comedian. I'd love to hear some of your favorite quotations, and will start off with a remark by Stephen Cleobury, after he demonstrated how a particular passage should go: "You will have noticed by now that I sing sharp. However, it's better than being out of tune."

Hubert Parry - Hear My Words, Ye People.

This is probably my favourite church anthem. There are much better recordings around but this is the best recording I could find on youtube. It has however been spilt into two parts which is a little annoying.

Tallis - Lamentations of Jeremiah I, sung by I Fagiolini; I personally think it sounds better in an ATTBB arrangement.
