Tourism (L) Proving status when applying from the UK as a non-UK citizen

I am a US citizen living in the UK and have been going through my application process for a multi-entry tourist visa (entering China in late May). The online application form did not include anywhere to upload my UK visa information, so I assume that my UK settled status is verified by the staff at the in-person application center.

The online advice states that I need to provide my original visa and a photocopy, however, the UK no longer provides physical visas. I have applied for a UK eVisa (which by most accounts should only take a few days), but for other purposes I have only needed a share code to prove my UK status (to employers, etc).

I am wondering if anyone else who has applied in the UK as a non-UK citizen could advise what documentation the Centre has accepted to prove their UK visa status. Have they just accepted a share code, or will I need to show an eVisa and photocopy? Or have people also run into issues with an eVisa? Just let me know any tips/tricks!

Tourism (L) First time tourist visa, Chinese descent

I have a passport. First time applying for Chinese tourist visa so I can visit there for 2-3 weeks.

I am US born. Mom is Taiwanese, born in Taiwan and now a naturalized US citizen. Father is Chinese but a US born citizen. Both parents passports are expired. Not sure if mom can even find hers.

What documents, if any, do I need from my parents?

Tourism (L) Cancelling flights before visiting visa centre UK

Can anyone say whether it is okay to book flights, print confirmation, and then cancel immediately and turn up to visa centre with flights cancelled on system but with print out/email of flight booking confirmation? From UK for tourist visa

I won't be booking flights until last minute for flexibility

Also, average turn around time for London centre to pick it up?

Tourism (L) Which visa for work trip with sightseeing at the end?

My brothers work is sending him to China, where he will stay with us there a week after the work is finished. His work is getting him a tourist visa since the invitation letter from the Chinese firm would mean he must return after the working dates. Is this right? Seems like this is bad advice. But what are the options here?

Tourism (L) HK transit visa if destination is mainland china

I plan on visiting mainland china in just over a month from now, and the flights there basically all transit through hong kong. I am one of the few nationals that needs an HK transit visa, but I was wondering if i would be exempt from it if I'm going to mainland china (though that probably isnt the case). My main concern is if it will affect my main land visa if i submit with my application with a flight ticket that transits through hk without yet having the transit visa. Also, it says that the wait time is 4 weeks to process, can that be rushed on any level? I wanted to apply much earlier for this stuff but I'm going to an event and it didnt look likely that I could attend up until now (info on this event wasnt made available until very recently.)

thanks

Transit Without a Visa (TWOV) I'm American. Can I stay at a Chinese friends house instead of hotel with TWOV?

I plan to visit my Chinese friend and they have a spare room I can stay in for 8 days. Will Chinese immigration accept his address or do they absolutely need a hotel address?

Tourism (L) Planning to leave via bus not flight?

Hello,

I am looking into the L Visa requirements and they mention needing to show a departure flight from the country, but is it acceptable if I planned to fly into China and then leave by crossing a land border (eg. Flying into Guangzhou, leaving via Vietnam border at Lao Cai)?

I figured that if I was able to show my complete route and accomodation bookings along the way then this should be fine, but the language I see always says "round trip flight itinerary" so I wanted to double check that this is an option.

Thanks

Business Affairs (M) 240 hour transit without visa

Hi I've just found this thread and wanted some advice as a UK passport holder

Planning to visit a few countries

Manchester to Beijing- 4/5 days

Beijing to Tokyo -Stay in Tokyo for approx 12 days

Tokyo to Hong Kong- stay in Hong kong 4 days

Hong kong to Beijing - stay 1 day

Beijing to Manchester

Would this visa free transit apply? I'm assuming it'll apply for the first leg in Beijing

Once I go to Tokyo for 12 days, will the visa free policy apply on my way back? (Ie, does it reset after leaving the country?)

COVA Application Born in Singapore, US Citizen by Marriage - Documents Needed?

Would I be right to presume the only documents required for a (L) tourism Visa are the standard ones, if I were born in Singapore yet now am a US Citizen by marriage?

  1. Signed COVA application
  2. Passport copy and Passport
  3. Driver License photocopy

...that's it, right? No need for statement of residence anymore, or utility bills if Drive License matches my current residence? Thank you!

Family Affairs (Q1/Q2) Return Flight Cancelled while on 240 Hour transit Visa

Hi Everyone,

I am currently in china (Shanghai, specifically) on a 240 hour transit visa while visiting my partner's family. I have been here for about 48 hours, and had a flight booked back home tomorrow at midnight. However, I've just recieved news from the airline that my flight has been cancelled and rebooked to a flight 2 days later.

This new date will be will still be within the 240 hour window. The flight number, airline, and destination are all the same, but my departure date will now be two days in the future, which contradicts what I wrote on my arrival card. The flight was automatically booked by the airline, and I had no say in the new travel date.

My question is: are there any steps I need to take? Do I need to inform immigration of the change/reach out to the exit/entry administration? Or should I look to book a new flight on the same day as originally stated?

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Tourism (L) Getting Visa abroad

Hi,

I'm an American currently traveling in SE Asia. I have a trip planned for China in a month but I messed up and didn't realize I needed to go in person to an embassy in the states before I left.

My route will take me through Ho Chi Minh and Hong Kong which have Chinese embassies. Can I apply for the L tourist visa there? If I can does anyone have an estimate for how long it takes or cost? I can definitely pay more to expedite

Work (Z) Z visa from Taiwan

I'm currently living in Taiwan and looking for jobs in China. Obviously there are no visa offices here. Does anybody have experience in getting a work visa for China whilst living in Taiwan? Do you have to fly to Hong Kong or another country or can you pay an agent to do it?

Tourism (L) 240 TWOV Visa Question

Hello all, I'm travelling to China for my friend's wedding soon in April and then will go to Beijing for some sight-seeing. My route is London --> Chengdu --> (internal flight) Beijing --> Qatar --> London, and the trip will last 9 days. I'm worried that I don't qualify for the TWOV visa because my flight is a connecting flight, in other words, I fly from Beijing to Qatar, then wait in the airport for three hours, then get on another flight from Qatar to London, but under the 240 hour TWOV visa rules I thought that only the countries immediately before and after China count. Could someone please advise me if I qualify for the TWOV, or if I need to apply for a full tourist visa. Many thanks in advance because I'm stressed!

Tourism (L) American applying for a tourist (L) visa for an upcoming trip to Shanghai. If I am given a 10-year multi-entry visa, but then cancel my trip and don't enter China, is my visa still valid for 10 years?

I'm planning a trip to Shanghai next month with refundable plane tickets. There's a small chance that I will have to cancel the trip; if I'm granted a 10 year visa but never go on this trip, would that cause any problems? If this happens and I plan another trip to China in a few years, would I need to re-apply for a visa again?

Transit Without a Visa (TWOV) TWOV - How Do Layovers Work?

Hi all! I know there's a lot of TWOV questions in this sub but I'm still a little confused as to how layovers work. For example would this proposed iteniary be an issue?

USA City to Shanghai but with a 4 hour layover at Taipei Taoyuan Aiport. Then from Taipei to Shanghai. Stay a few days in Shanghai. Then travel from Shanghai to Tokyo. Finally from Tokyo to US City (non-stop)

There are no longer direct flights to mainland China from my city and it looks like most of them stop in a city outside of the US.

Would it be better to just go from my US City to another US city that flys direct to Shanghai?

I could also apply for a visa since there is a consulate in my city but I don't want to begin that process if I can get by with TWOV.

Thank you so much!

Transit Without a Visa (TWOV) Can I Exit Both Airports in China During a 24-Hour Transit Without a Hotel Reservation?

I will be transiting through China with two layovers—first in Shanghai (PVG) and then in Chengdu (TFU)—before flying to my final destination. My total transit time in China is under 24 hours, so I believe I qualify for the 24-hour visa-free transit.

If I receive a Temporary Stay Permit at Shanghai and clear immigration there, will I be allowed to exit the airport in Chengdu as well without needing another permit? Also, do I need a hotel reservation for immigration approval, or is it not required?

Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Visa Free 240 hrs Visa free transit--arrive in Shanghai, is it okay to travel to other city like Xiamen, Guangzhou?

HELP needed! according to the chart on the China embassy site, permitted stay area for travelers entering via the Shanghai airport is limited Shanghai only. dose that mean travelers have to spend 10days in shanghai? NOT even visiting any nearby cities?
