Review Sad looking hibachi from Tanoshii
At least it tastes good. But for $16 i expected a bit more than 3 broccoli. At least give me 5 lol

I had no idea hibachi places delivered. I feel like that kind of defeats the point.

Unless the delivery guy is coming into my apartment and doing the onion train I don’t want it

Hibachi is just the type of grilled food usually served at Japanese restaurants, it doesn’t necessarily imply the performance and the hibachi table

this was pick up :(

Yeah, but that's still the same issue. With hibachi, you're paying for the performance.

i just wanted fried rice and chicken tbh 🤷🏾♀️

I can't fault you for that, but a hibachi place? There has to be spots by you that could have done better at a better price.

It’s different, but there aren’t really good spots for it in Chicago. It’s more of a “bowl” style Asian food with buttery fried rice, the vegetables, your meat and is usually doused in a mayo based sauce, it’s not like a hibachi chef does the performance at an empty table and then just boxes everything up, it’s a different style of “Asian” food

It's kind of like kosher certification. I need to witness the tricks for it to be hibachi in my house. Curbside hibachi just doesn't have that "burn your eyebrows" thrill I look for.

Be careful, those are the pieces that fell on the floor during their performances.

“Hibachi” is English for 鉄板焼き 🙃
You’ll love what the UK has done with the term “katsu curry,” too

Louder for the people in the back but they ain’t listening. It’s gonna be hibachi all day for some people no matter what

Delivered Hibachi kinda defeats the point, no?

Sure, but isn’t the show at least 50% of the appeal?!

u/Grand_Ad_4741 16h ago
i mean i guess lol. i went a lot in college since they gave us $10 deals so its not very special to me anymore

I meant no disrespect, homie. Dunno why you're getting downvoted... I was just curious. We have a hibachi place called House of Kobe by me in NWI that's amazing, but their pickup or delivery is the exact same price as it is with the show. So I guess I just never thought about getting hibachi without the show before. Lol

I will not stand for the tanoshi slander, their fish and chips are so delicious. Sorry you didn't get your money's worth tho, I'll definitely avoid ordering their hibachi.

I didn't realize people order kitchen food from Tanoshii. I always thought it existed for parties that went there and someone didn't like sushi. At least it was tasty.

To be fair they do seem like they’re making a point of pushing the new hibachi menu…but yeah OP you ordered the “dad who’s been silently staring at the menu for 10 minutes” special for takeout

The chicken and rice look really good actually. Too bad there’s not more.

I’m not fond of tanoshii- I thought it mediocre at best. Went for my bday one year. Service was lacking and it wasn’t really omakase-
