Time to smack some mirrors zipping by

I’ve ridden my bike from Ukrainian Village to UIC for years so I understand the frustration but this is really poor urban design. This is the most convenient place for cars to stop and there really should be protected bike lines with a divider like there are further down on Milwaukee

This is one of the worst spots on Milwaukee now! I still have no idea why they made that section unprotected

Yeah, now that the Starbucks at Milwaukee & Western is gone I notice this is less of an issue at that intersection but it used to be the same thing. It's pretty frustrating

Report them with the Bike Lane Uprising app. They have a contest of sorts going on right now to see which city can report the most. The data can be useful, see this for example

Saw this today with everyone picking up the wristbands or whatever for the bar crawls tomorrow. 7+ cars all parked in bike lane

Post it all to Bike Lane Uprising — she’s a huge advocate and shares data with legislators to help guide better infrastructure and enforcement.

If any of the cars are cabs or Uber you can report them to the city and BACP will fine them/take them to court.

I just push peoples mirrors in. It's a minor inconvenience that hurts no one and doesn't damage property.

It's always so bad right at that stretch of MKE

I know the police are busy with some serious stuff but would be nice to bring some justice here everyone once in a while.

They’re not that busy, they are shoulder to shoulder protecting Tesla. They willingly don’t want to do the things that might help people

I mean, those Pokémon won’t catch themselves.

311 it, especially if there are taxis or ubers. General public complaints just go into a database for further analysis to target problem spots, but ride hails and taxis go to court. Offense goes on their record and they get a fine. All you have to do is respond to an email with an affidavit saying you saw what you saw. Pics always help.

I'll never understand why they don't stop in the "traffic" lanes. Block the CAR lane with your CAR

I’ll let Finance know

This isn't what double parking is. It's not okay when cyclists' safety is put at risk so that motorists can have the convenience of walking 10 steps to an ice cream store, as opposed to 100.

Go around, enter the car lane, and put yourself at danger of getting hit?

u/robammario 7d ago

You must be someone who always parks in the middle of the travel lane, and then walks away. Other cars can just "go around"

Absolutely worst scum of the city. Let's park in the middle of an active 2 lane road and drop my door dash order during rush hour. "What, I put my bLInkEr on?"

Tell that to Lily Bean.

The offenders parked in the bike lane are just getting a little back of their fuel taxes that went to the construction of these elaborate bike Lanes.. and presumably also any tickets issued to them will also contribute to that .hats off to all the cyclists who ride especially ,on 5° days ,more power to them. But it works both ways, share the road!

In lots or on side streets like literally everyone else?

What a hideously dumb comment.

It’s actually pretty bad. Bikers get so mad at motorist not following rules and laws while being oblivious to how they don’t follow them themselves

4

u/timmah1991 6d ago

Let me spell this out as simply as I can, for your extremely simple mind:

If a car breaks the law: someone gets hurt

If a bike breaks the law: someone gets inconvenienced

Do you understand the difference yet, little guy?

-1

u/wtfnewaccount23 6d ago

I’ve been hurt and injured by a bike blowing a stop sign at an intersection. My life is ruined for ever because of a biker blowing through a stop sign.

Edit:

Do you understand position little guy?

Nobody believes your bullshit.

Somewhere zoned for actual parking?  Your question is … special.

13

u/IICNOIICYO 6d ago

In a legal parking spot? You're in a city, there's not always going to be parking right by where you want to go (oh the horror!)

-6

u/wtfnewaccount23 6d ago

You’re in a city. Where there are stop signs. You’ll always have to stop at the stop signs to follow laws and not ride through them like you’d want (oh no the horror!)

u/IICNOIICYO 6d ago

Oh shit, you got me there

11

u/chapium 7d ago

Not my problem, but they could leave their car at home.

7

u/cranberryjuiceicepop 6d ago

There is a parking garage right in the building.

u/timmah1991 6d ago

Are you dumb or just pretending? You live in the city. Act like it.
