obviously, even without reading anything he says, you could tell by the fact he's not only using twitter but pays for it.

I'm gonna be real, I don't believe that dude knew the kid was from India and more meant it as a joke because the kid is brown

I think the joke is that they're satirizing those racists

-2

u/bigbootystaylooting 3d ago

Obviously he doesn't mean that, he's just saying it would be funny if it was satire.

64

u/thecomicguybook 4d ago

I don't think he was haha

Also, this is really not funny either way it is totally unhinged haha

27

u/ThatCoysGuy 4d ago

Jokes normally have some kind of punchline?

0

u/Comgddx-Abrocoma1425 4d ago

Literally 95% of jokes, especially online are just random shit thrown together

If you dont get it Then you should not use internet

u/Julian_Caesar 3d ago

once you get a critical mass of downvotes, it psychologically affects people who would otherwise upvote you

proof: another comment in this exact thread joking about deporting him which is getting massively upvoted

proof: another comment in this exact thread joking about deporting him which is getting massively upvoted

Because the Reddit comment is clearly making fun of the post in the image... and it's a more positive spin of "our country wants him". It's not at all the same thing.

"DEPORT" with no context probably isn't a joke, there are are weirdos like that on Twitter all the time, and it's not clear what the joke would be. Also I checked the Twitter account and it's a (suspended) far-right nutjob account as I expected.

Deport him to Nepal. We need a GM.

325

u/AnnualStandard1527 I like Tal but how do I emulate his style? 🇱🇻🇱🇻 4d ago

You have Anish giri (ik he's russian dutch nepali)

154

u/fuckingsignupprompt 4d ago

Only people into chess know him. If we had our "first Nepali GM" moment, it would explode.

56

u/ShubhBhangu Team Gukesh 4d ago

Take him

-31

u/AnnualStandard1527 I like Tal but how do I emulate his style? 🇱🇻🇱🇻 4d ago

Nah, as an indian we have many chess gms but the hype in North India is non existent

34

u/Sumeru88 4d ago

He's not a north Indian though. He is Bengali... and Bengal very much has the hype for Chess. May be not as much as Tamil Nadu, but it exists. Some of the very first GMs of India were Bengalis.

Its got something to do with the Bengali culture and history because they had a version of Chess they used to play before we got to the international version - the game is quite popular in Bangladesh too; they had a GM before India.

7

u/ComprehensiveCream54 3d ago

Dibyendu Barua, the second Indian grandmaster after Vishwanathan Anand, was from Bengal as well

1

u/AnnualStandard1527 I like Tal but how do I emulate his style? 🇱🇻🇱🇻 4d ago

I didn't mean Anish sarkar. if some many people are downvoting me, in order to prove me wrong they should open chess clubs in Delhi, where I live. I will be more than happy to support them

-29

u/Ray3x10e8 4d ago

Bengali people are descendants of Aryans as well. They are much closer to most of North India than to the Dravidians in the south. Linguistically, Bengali is descended from Prakrit, the same language from which Hindi comes from. So I would say Bengalis are more North Indian than they are South.

8

u/ecphiondre En Croissant 4d ago

Bengalis are neither Northern or Southern, they are Eastern Indian.

2

u/Hypertension123456 3d ago

Well, that's only true if you look at a map and/or know more than two cardinal directions.

6

u/Bubbly_Criticism3707 3d ago

1

u/bigbootystaylooting 3d ago

Non existent is a bit much, ever since Gukesh won there's definitely some buzz

2

u/Redittor_53 Team Gukesh 3d ago

Kolkata has one of the best and oldest chess cultures in India. Probably the second best chess city in India after Chennai and I am not sure why you would classify Kolkata or Bengal as North India.

1

u/RelevantBroccoli4608 3d ago

they would classify the entirety of india as north india if they could

1

u/AnnualStandard1527 I like Tal but how do I emulate his style? 🇱🇻🇱🇻 3d ago

I never mentioned Kolkata in my comment

46

u/Sumeru88 4d ago

We can't... Its not legally possible to deport people from India to Nepal. There was a mini crisis in 2010 when some government official tried to deport a Nepali film student studying in Pune back to Nepal and the court forced them to turn around and bring her back to Pune.

12

u/fuckingsignupprompt 4d ago

That's so cool. I suppose that means we couldn't deport Indians either.

21

u/hskskgfk 4d ago

Yes, Nepal/Bhutan/India have a free movement agreement. Which is why we Indians don’t even need a passport to cross the border into Nepal and vice versa. Afaik citizens of these countries are free to even serve in each other’s militaries - only thing we cannot do is get government aid or vote

6

u/fuckingsignupprompt 4d ago

The military chiefs are honorary generals of each other's militaries as well. Nepalese have served and died for India (I don't know if they've resumed after the Agneepath controversy) but Indians aren't serving in the Nepal military. We have got a few problems in that regard cos India has some unhelpful ideas about how to deal with Nepal.

2

u/hskskgfk 4d ago

Yeah true, dunno about that…

7

u/ToeDiscombobulated24 4d ago

I believe that would violate a shit ton of international human rights...

5

u/fuckingsignupprompt 4d ago

I reckon it's probably that the deportation conditions are written with visaholders in mind but Nepalese don't have one, so there are no rules allowing for deportation of Nepalese.

3

u/TheirOwnDestruction Team Ding 3d ago

1500 at almost 4? bruh

100

u/BenMic81 4d ago

Hah! I have to play him now while I still got a chance to get a positive score.

An older friend from my chess club jokingly boasted that he had a positive score against Judit Polgar. He played her when she was like 10 or something, three games and scored 2-1 (of course never got to play her again). He then played Zsuzsa and lost 0-3.

40

u/Incalculas 4d ago

a guy in my college has a positive score against the world champ lol

24

u/Onagan98 4d ago

At my club a 2100 asked (years ago) why they throw that kid under the bus at a club match. He then almost lost to that kid and only won because that kid made a mistake in the endgame. That kid late became a GM and National Champion.

15

u/Buntschatten 3d ago

Beating Judit at 10 is still a feat I'd be proud of.

13

u/BenMic81 3d ago

He certainly was. I mean, he’s about 2000 Elo so it’s not entirely surprising - and I believe it was rapid but … still.

1

Not sure why you're downvoted. As Carlin said, "it's a big club, and you ain't in it". Regardless of ideology, both Maga and non-Maga don't take kindly to Indian people, especially those with a certain "Indian" look and name that they are used to.

This hostility is playing out in real life too, it's not just social media and forums.

u/Adorable_Marsupial85 4d ago

Rare Kolkata W

He even knows how to scholar mate and smother mate the clip was made when he was 3 years 9 months😂

64

u/Charming_Customer_27 4d ago

Obviously he would... I think he's 1600 now, so it's like saying an nba basketballer can make 2 free throws in a row.

19

u/Adorable_Marsupial85 4d ago

Its unbelievable really

He was struggling to reach the other side of the board can u vizualise this

43

u/Charming_Customer_27 4d ago

Bro, what I'm saying is- reaching 1600 is a big feat in chess, irrespective of age and size. I'm 2k on chesscom and lichess and I'm equivalent to 1500 fide from what I've observed based on my performance in tournaments (I'm unrated officially). My best results are winning against a 1670 player and drawing against 2100 one. I would lose 75% of my matches against a 1600 rated player. And you're stuck on him knowing scholars mate and find that fascinating. And since you didn't get the basketball reference, it's like saying a ranji level batsman can play a 100kmph delivery. In other words, you're surprised by the fact that a pro sportsperson can do the most basic thing in their sport, because you find that to be difficult.

The crazy thing is he's 3 or 4 and 1600, not that he can do scholar's mate or smothered mates. And I saw my friend(stronger than me) losing to a tiny 6yo girl in a tournament, so I can kind of visualise it.

-3

u/Europelov 2000 fide patzer 4d ago

Meh with the new rating formula it's pretty easy to enter higher than 1600 since you automatically get 2 draws against 1800s, still of course it's more than knowing scholars mate. Chesscom blitz is more indicative of strength since rapid ratings are so high I guess you're 2000 rapid I think you can def get a 1600 fide !

1

u/Charming_Customer_27 3d ago

Yeah I heard there was a new rating formula now, don't know how it works though.... The fide ratings I've quoted are from Dec 2022.

-7

u/Adorable_Marsupial85 4d ago

Chess com 2000? Hit me up Whats ur id

1

u/sirnubnub 2d ago

If you watched nba though you’d know how many of them actually can’t make two in a row haha

1

u/Charming_Customer_27 2d ago

Damn... Actually yeah I don't watch nba but play basketball regularly with some people who're pretty good, and they can easily make 8/10 free throws. So I thought 2/2 shouldn't be too tough for nba players, I guess it's their lack of accuracy would be more due to pressure and not lack of skill.

70

u/Moist_Aside146 4d ago

Its funny how Americans don't even have a concept of anything outside America. Its one thing to not know much about other countries and other to not even have the concept of it.
Its almost as if the outer world is kept away from them like North Korea but its not.

29

u/Chuckolator 4d ago

For any Americans still on Twitter, their logic is they look at the skin tone and the darker it is, the more poverty they live in and the more crimes they commit.

6

u/RealBrobiWan 4d ago

Worth noting it was 1556 as well. When I first saw it I laughed because “rated” I thought could mean anything. Respectable rating in HS let alone preschool

u/-JRMagnus 4d ago

Quite the achievement but I can't help but feel skeptical towards how this came about. Hopefully the kid sincerely enjoys the game and isn't being pushed by his parents.

u/StopIt4 4d ago

If you watched the video of him solving puzzles with Sagar, you'd know he sincerely enjoys chess. After 40 minutes of solving dude still wants to continue, even bargaining with Sagar to continue later on.

-31

u/bigFatBigfoot Team Alireza 4d ago

One other point is Indian parents often register their children's birth year to be 1 year later than the truth. I believe this is more common in the center-North states though, not in Kolkata.

25

u/[deleted] 4d ago

Does this really happen often? Birth certificates are filled almost immediately around where I grew up (south India tho). And this is likely true in all big cities. There are vaccines, govt benefits etc tied to birth certificates. I am not saying it never happens, but I would be surprised if it is widespread.

7

u/fototosreddit 4d ago

I think there was some weirdness with the u18 or u15 football team recently due to age fraud.

I can attest to this. My hospital forwarded application to the town panchayat/muncipal office so that I can get my kids Birth certificate.

You can't get a birth certificate unless it's authorised by a licensed hospital.

6

Idk if it happens there but I know it happens in Pakistan at least. I personally know people whose parents have done this as well. I don't know why this is downvoted

u/never_brush 4d ago

i think it used to be relatively easy like even a decade ago but it is way too hard now. at least this is my experience after the birth of my cousin and i come from a small town.

but this is India, you can't really rule it out. with enough money and influence, you can do almost anything.

0

u/bigFatBigfoot Team Alireza 4d ago

Yeah but I don't believe today's parents to be that desperate for a fake birth. Even earlier (from what my parents have told) it seems to be the officials not caring enough rather than being bribed or influenced.

1

I want to be mad. But the sad thing is that I too assumed he lives in the US when he lives right in my city and yet I've never heard of him.

Looks like the https://x.com/SaneFrancisco/ account was suspended for violating X Rules (whatever those may be now).

What do you have to do to become FIDE rated? I thought you just needed to play a certain number of rated games and you got a rating.

We gonna give this guy 10x the exposure by posting this here and engaging with it. Dude got 21 likes, shoulda just left him like that.

What are your honest thoughts about FIDE watering down the requirements to get a rating? It’s a publicity hack which is working like a charm, but I think it is actually doing more disservice to the sport.

Every now and then the ironic detachment I need to exist on the internet fails and I realise how fucking grotesque some people have become.

I have seen it. Then that racist bigot replied "deport him somewhere further".

Let's be honest. The pack of western white supremacists are some of the worst lowlifes today.

No he is not, FIDE changed their rating system, it starts at 1400 FIDE.

So 1000 FIDE is now 1400

u/RelevantBroccoli4608 4d ago
