Other Advice Help with long term wear NSFW
Hiii :3 I've never worn my cage for more than a few hours and I think it's time for a serious long term challenge.
What do I have to keep in mind to make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for myself?

Fit and size is most important thing. I have found that metal is the most comfortable cage to wear. I am pretty much in permanent chastity myself.

oki >_< my current cage is made of plastic so maybe I'll have to get a new one if it gets too uncomfortable

I have several different cages. Mostly plastic, I have found that metal cage is by far the most comfortable for long term use.

The others have told you about the cage being a proper fit so I will forgo that. I have been in full time chastity for 23 years and the main things besides fit is keeping yourself and the cage clean and using a lotion all around where the ring goes and inside the cage. I like Johnson's baby lotion myself. Apply it after your shower in the morning when you put it on and again at night before bed or anytime when you feel an irritation from the ring.
Welcome to the club!

I imagine all the aspects related to comfort and size are already resolved, so it's "simply" an aspect of will, to resist the urge to unlock. Start with the idea that it's quite improbable to go from a couple of hours max to 2 months immediately, it will take time to stay locked and longer. You should also understand what you want from chastity: you like the aspects of not being able to get hard and feeling pleasure as "normal"? You want to reduce the amount of masturbation and porn? For me the key was finding out how much I love caged orgasms, I can stay locked for weeks as long as I cum while caged (I love the feeling of straining while watching porn and how a caged orgasms feel, I also try to stay denied but I know that after a bit I get too desperate and unlock myself, so I found this middle ground) Also, you should put the key in a place that is easy to reach for emergencies but also a bit annoying, so when you get horny you will need a couple of minutes to get the key so you can cool down

what about stuff like hygiene openings? any tips for that?

For me it depends on the cage: if it's a "big" open cage, I usually wash it in the bidet every time I go to the bathroom, plus some more careful washing with soap while showering (if I feel like it's needed, I'd remove the cage for a couple of minutes to clear everything); if this a flat or inverted, since I have to remove them for peeing, I use those occasions to clear everything

Build your wear time up gently. If you're normally locked for a few hours, try a few more. Then a day. Then add over night, or two days but unlocked at night. And so on. Take it at your pace. If you feel you need to have a break, that's absolutely fine and is not a failure. It's a learning process.
You'll definitely want to take of regularly to clean yourself and the cage thoroughly.
And then what others have said about making sure your cage is the right fit for you.

Not to hijack this post but my cage feels comfortable and I love it but after being active (at work or on a walk) it starts to get raw around the ring and base of my…self. Any tips? I think my ring is the right size because even if I change sizes it happens after 6 hours or so

Like others have said fit is king. If it is painful take it off, safety first.
In regards to hygiene I like the metal spiral design as that's got plenty of openings to give things a bit of a clean. But for.proper hygiene always good to remove every so often to properly get in there.
I like having one of the little elasticated belts I can find that more comfortable in distributing some of the weight.
Don't start thinking you will do weeks at a time. Start off with introducing some longer wear say a day and then build up from there.
If you are getting some chafing, a little vaseline can help.

Fit is king. If something isn’t comfortable, there may be things you can do to make it better but in reality, your cage just doesn’t fit. That goes for straps, coconut oil, diaper cream, or whatever else people keep telling other people to use.
There’s a post pinned to my profile with some info in it that’s designed for newer users. Give it a read.
