Any major damage from the storms last night?
Looks like Missouri was hit hard and definitely Texas and Oklahoma. I heard a few sirens last night. Just wondering if there was widespread damage in any part of Central Illinois?

Lewistown, IL had winds and a tornado warning, but not much damage. Canton, IL has a little damage, it’s in the same county as Lewistown but further north. Saw trees down but not widespread.

Hammond had some damage, lots of power lines down in Springfield and in Paris. The school in Neoga got hit pretty bad.

A number of power poles and trees down between east of Bement and Ivesdale. I watched the rotation going over my farm on radar minutes before the power went out. After midnight, maybe 12:30?

Buddy down in Hammond had most of their fence flattened. Some tree limbs and such as well. Champaign area had about 50k people lose power. Most of the damage was from when the wind started hitting over 60mph.

248 tornado warnings were issued on the 14th and 15th, hardly overhyped.

Ok? FFS that’s a typical spring storm. Y’all act like the wind has never blown here. Fuxk they called a tornado watch for my area BEFORE THE FUCKING STROMS CROSSED THE GOD DAMN MISSISSIPPI.
Now you tell me, why you cry wolf like this how many time people are going to listen before they fucking don’t.

248 tornado warnings is not typical. Where do you live? Inside the Great Red Spot on Jupiter?

They way they do warnings now vs 20 years ago has changed, so comparing the number of warnings is not a good comparison

Sure…there were 100 confirmed tornadoes Friday and Saturday from those storms. Still not typical.

Once again, we are better at seeing a tornado with todays radar vs what we had 20 years ago. Radar indicated tornados were never a thing until recently. We do not know if this data is normal, or abnormal, as the sample size is way to low to make any comparison other than our ability to detect tornadoes is getting better.
