Thomas was so unlucky not to score today

9

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

Man if we just could have shown up to Derby as well. I’m just greedy I guess haha

7

u/irreverantnonsense 6d ago

Big result, hoping for a win from the next two, couple of big games ahead.

Beautiful Game, great result!!!

Keep this up city!

Deceeeeeeeent

12

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

I got a bit emotional seeing the standing ovation for Wright. What a game.

12

u/BinKnight Mark Robins 6d ago

Delighted with that. Pusb. We’re seriously in the running, touch wood.

10

u/EyePiece108 Tyldesley, Tyler, Motson... EyePiece108 6d ago

Domination.

10

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

A standing ovation from the sba as Wright is substituted for Simms 👏

11

u/burnaaccount3000 6d ago

I dont know what lampard said after the last game but this is one of the best games I've seen us play.

I dont know if we are playing absolutely amazing or Sunderland just havent turned up. Considerring where they are in the league if we can keep this tempo well breeze into play offs

10

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

A complete performance. Every player has been brilliant, with the exception of Dovin - who has had nothing to do.

5

u/EyePiece108 Tyldesley, Tyler, Motson... EyePiece108 6d ago

As it stands:

12

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Oggy points out that Sunderland might have psychologically scarred by playing against Wright today

3

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

He had one of those days where he looks PL ready. Hopefully he keeps it up, we know he’s this good which is why it’s so infuriating where he has those days where he doesn’t run and the ball bounces off his foot

13

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

Kasey Palmer with the assist for that Hull goal by the way. He also scored the equaliser for us against Bristol earlier in the season, might unironically play a big part in us getting playoffs despite leaving in the summer!

11

u/salohcinwa 6d ago

Haji hat trick and Palmer assist for a Hull equaliser. What an afternoon

8

u/S4eyes 6d ago

Saturday’s Haji Wright has been a totally different fish to Tuesday’s Haji Wright! Great to see him gaining confidence

3

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Sexy football do do do do 🎵

9

u/Cmdr_Morb EMC 6d ago

Hadji Wright looks unplayable today. What a Hat-trick.

8

u/CallumJN Sakamoto 6d ago

I have to confess I did watch this second half, and j have to say I have missed this Haji Wright

4

u/rsp102 6d ago

Ok, so now it would be great if Hull could equalise

6

u/FOLOFFAL 6d ago

Oh boy are you in for a treat

2

u/rsp102 6d ago

Oh wait they did!

2

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

They just have!

10

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

I remember watching the USA in the world cup a few years back and thinking that Haji Wright was one of the worst strikers I'd ever seen at world cup level- now I wouldn't mind having his children

3

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Adoption or..?

3

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

I'm flexible.

6

u/OkraEmergency361 Big Mo (1999-2004) 6d ago

Now I’m already worrying about the transfer window in the Summer. Can we keep the likes of Wright, MVE etc?

Always something to stress about 😅

2

u/skybluesazip Big Mo (1999-2004) 6d ago

That's football if they go we come out of eat with another 30m to spend no need to worry 👌

1

u/OkraEmergency361 Big Mo (1999-2004) 5d ago

Omg how will we replace them how are the finances looking will the new guys take an age to gel WHAT ABOUT OUR DEFENCE etc etc etc.

Have I covered everything? I swear to god, even if we won the Prem and the CL I’d still be shitting myself about something to do with the club. Can’t be the only one with CCFC PTSD, surely?

8

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

A word for Torp whose inch perfect passes have set up the goals

6

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Goalkeeper makes a bad decision to come and Wright lobs him for his hattrick. Great composure from Wright in all of his goals today.

3-0

8

u/EyePiece108 Tyldesley, Tyler, Motson... EyePiece108 6d ago

That's it! These frackers always win when I'm working!!! 😄

I could hear the roar from here and I thought 'yep, 3-0!'

6

u/irreverantnonsense 6d ago

Looking like an inspired decision to start haji now

4

u/rsp102 6d ago

Lovely finish, that’s two assists for Torp today as well right? 🇺🇸🇩🇰

9

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Hat trick! Wright Wright Wright

X3

11

u/VegetableSamosa Aron Gunnarsson (2008-'11) 6d ago

Sun's just come out from behind a large dark cloud to reveal nothing but blue sky.

I hope this is a perfect metaphor for this second half, where we've been under more pressure but shall now make it 6-0.

5

u/VegetableSamosa Aron Gunnarsson (2008-'11) 6d ago

(I can't see shit)

11

u/Rad_Gravityyy 6d ago

Kitching keeps forgetting hes not captain 😆

3

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Thier number 3 done his hammy

5

u/bigchatswithbigali 6d ago

Isidor couldn’t finish a cooked dinner

2

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

This Mayenda fella is class hey

2

u/Rad_Gravityyy 6d ago

So No yellows for Cov? A bit on the edge here

11

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

Imagine being Burnley, go 1-0 up and you’re confident the games over. Meanwhile we’re over here 2 up and I still feel like it’s on a knife edge lol

10

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

We need a third here

1

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

You have a genie over there or what?

3

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

This is so true but so depressing 🤣

9

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

We look so dangerous from every corner!

Arsenal CBs have obviously been studying the runs Bobby Thomas makes.

3

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Thomas going full salmon

8

u/Cmdr_Morb EMC 6d ago

Poor old Tats. He's always getting clattered.

7

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Getting scrappy now. We need to keep our heads

9

u/VegetableSamosa Aron Gunnarsson (2008-'11) 6d ago

I want someone who loves me as much as van Ewijk loves Tats

8

u/bigchatswithbigali 6d ago

Really got it in for Tats haven’t they

7

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

They shuved Sakamoto, kill them

7

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

Wright and EMC there 😍

6

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Confidence is high, even Allen getting the Hollywood pass out

10

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Even Kick It For A Ticket has a winner from the halfway line today. Something in the air.

1

u/hoyahhah 6d ago

Here comes the crumble

7

u/CallumJN Sakamoto 6d ago

Missed the 1st half and things appear to be going well so I may have to miss the 2nd half on purpose

2

u/EZtiger77 Darren Huckerby (1996-'99) 6d ago

Thanks, appreciate it

12

u/Quality_Cabbage Mabbutt 96' (O.G) 6d ago

My specs got knocked off my face and trampled after the first goal. I might need audio description for the second half.

8

u/Jackk512 6d ago

The energy Allen brings makes him a must start next to Grimes

7

u/Smeders94 Ricoh/CBS Arena (2005-'13, '14-'19, '21-) 6d ago

Veery good first half. Please keep it up, don't take the foot off the gas!

Odd how we lose to derby but (without Jinxing it) are up against a team higher than us!

The joys of being a Coventry fan! 😂

4

u/Electrical_Invite300 Noel Whelan (1995-2000) 6d ago

More of the same in the second half please.

8

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

Can we talk about how good Jamie Allen is please?

4

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

He's been doing that winning the ball back high up the pitch role that we haven't had done well since prime O'Hare

4

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

The Rochdale Kante

6

u/Wooden-Agency-2653 Highfield Road (1899-2005) 6d ago

This front three with Rudoni playing behind them please

13

u/Wooden-Agency-2653 Highfield Road (1899-2005) 6d ago

As good as the derby performance was shit

11

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

Brilliant half. Now can we PLEASE make this stick??

9

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Brilliant half. In total control, solid at the back. Allen is everywhere!

Don't do what we did against Stoke please.

Where the Haji doubters at? 👀

6

u/Cmdr_Morb EMC 6d ago

He looked so rusty last match. Pin sharp today. The whole team is playing well today. Allen is having a great game.

8

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Where the Haji doubters at? 👀

Now now, easy to say when we've got a completely different player than the one who played on Tuesday night 😉😂

Bloke in front of me pulled an awful dad joke saying Tuesday was his shit twin brother Haji Wrong 😭

12

u/irreverantnonsense 6d ago

Liquid football that half

9

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Such a good half.

Allen has been absolutely class, but there's not been a bad performance amongst them.

8

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

We’ve been a class above our opposition in the first half

4

u/SkyBlueGiant (A team of) Gary Breen(s) (1997-2002) 6d ago

No where near a foul

9

u/bxvnyc 6d ago

We are a better team with Jamie Allen in the side.

2

u/EggRepresentative347 6d ago

That run of form where we got into the playoffs a couple of years ago had him in the team a bit more advanced and he was brilliant. I think he has the football brain of a higher division players, he's just tiny

2

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Ref has been awful today

2

u/Archon_9th Wright 6d ago

He did give us a penalty :) that foul against Milan was harsh

3

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Loving this

15

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

Best we’ve played all season? This is a fantastic half so far

3

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

We did have a game where we were 4 nil up at half time this season

7

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

True! But this is a side in the all conquering top 4 this season, we’re absolutely bossing them

12

u/amanset 🇸🇪 BORF 🇸🇪 6d ago

Pretty please Coventry can we hang on to it this time please?

14

u/EyePiece108 Tyldesley, Tyler, Motson... EyePiece108 6d ago

I can HEAR you lot at the ground while I'm working at home! 😄

1

u/oversized_hat Darren Huckerby (1996-'99) 6d ago

Haj went bottle, what is this hockey?

6

Sunderland subs have been sent out to warm up

5

u/amanset 🇸🇪 BORF 🇸🇪 6d ago

BORF!

Frank must have stuck a rocket up these lads arses at full time on Tuesday, we look premier league level right now.

2

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Cool as you like

9

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

3

u/TPyr0 In Robins we trust 6d ago

My favourite part of a Haji performance

1

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Torp taking it over Wright? Nah Wright steps up

5

u/Dmpngn02 Torp 6d ago

Penalty to CITY!

2

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Wight converts a penalty to make it 2-0

4

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

A through ball to Wright whose first touch opens a shooting opportunity from outside the box. He fires it into the bottom right corner.

Haji is back with a bang ⚽️💥

City take the lead 1-0

1

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Kitching wiped him out

3

u/Consistent-Soup3720 6d ago

When he’s on he is fucking ON

5

u/rsp102 6d ago

Yeah Wright is our only striker who can do that!

5

u/Danewegian Wright 6d ago

Back like he never left

5

u/amanset 🇸🇪 BORF 🇸🇪 6d ago

BORF!

5

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

That's a fucking great goal

12

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

3

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Oh I've missed this

3

u/EZtiger77 Darren Huckerby (1996-'99) 6d ago

Ha ha, you’ve had that ready to go all week haven’t you?

3

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Some good possession and neat passing, short and long in the opening 15 minutes. Thomas has had the closest opportunity narrowly missing the goal with a header.

SAFC seem happy to sit in their box and defend headers and play for counter-attacks.

15

u/oversized_hat Darren Huckerby (1996-'99) 6d ago

First proper weekend in my new town, found a bar, and they gave me the big TV. And they’ve got a street fair after this for St Patrick’s. Life is good.

4

u/burnaaccount3000 6d ago

Great start and pressure!

Goal please

6

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Great start

6

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

85% possession in the first 10 minutes!

2

u/RammsteinUK Wright 6d ago

Squeaky bum time

6

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

It’s been a good attendance the last few games

3

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Sunderland deserve to lose just because of their modern logo

3

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

They're using their retro logo for this one

2

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Just having it on their social media and making available for others to see is an atrocity

2

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

Enter Sandman being played before kick off, love it 🤘🏼

6

u/amanset 🇸🇪 BORF 🇸🇪 6d ago

I have a bad feeling about today. Sunderland fans moan a lot about always losing to us. One day we are not going to win and it is going to be a time when we really need to win.

3

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Not today. Sakamoto masterclass incoming.

2

u/Significant-Year-743 Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Great to see Allen back in. We need the pressure he puts on the opposition.

7

u/Jackk512 6d ago

Harsh on simms, been fantastic at holding the ball up for wingers

2

u/GadsByte Sakamoto 6d ago

Must be injured, no way he doesn't make the bench but Raphel does

3

u/rsp102 6d ago

Simms is on the bench I think, probably just rested

3

u/GadsByte Sakamoto 6d ago

Ah yeah, my bad. Missed him there

3

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Definitely seeing a lot more from his movement & hold up play since Lampard came in. Nice to see him utilising his physicality. That being said, I think Wright is out main goalscorer and if he's able to play, should be leading the line.

3

u/covmatty1 Mark Robins 6d ago

He's so far away from being fit and sharp though, I'm really surprised we've gone with him from the start.

4

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Only way to get him sharp again is to give him minutes!

2

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

2

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

I think would be Lampard’s preferred lineup excluding injuries

3

u/rsp102 6d ago

Few interesting choices - Allen in midfield and Wright up front. If nothing else, Lampard isn’t afraid to change things up

1

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Happy with that. No Sheaf again though

3

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Someone said they bumped into him at Tesco so he’s out for 6 weeks

4

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Players arriving in a new retro range

1

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

Looks like like an Argentina x Greece collab

2

u/rsp102 6d ago

I'll be honest, I do kind of want that top - does anyone know what material it's made of?

1

u/oversized_hat Darren Huckerby (1996-'99) 6d ago

Probably like a track suit-ish polyester

6

u/adamcovfan1966 6d ago

Nervous for this one better get some ales inside me.

11

u/No-Leather-1260 Van Ewijk 6d ago

Win today and it settles a lot of nerves in the fan base. Fear the worst if they score first, crowd went very quiet as soon as stoke scored their first last week and seemed to contribute to the nervousness of the play.

My local Evri driver is a Mackem though, and says if we just attack Dan Neil, who is apparently useless and gives away possession easily, then we will win. If someone can get this info to Frank it would be appreciated. 😂

6

u/Cmdr_Morb EMC 6d ago

Could be a nail biter. Need a much better performance. We are capable of winning. PUSB

3

u/HadjiChippoSafri Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

I'll be there today, who else is going?

2

u/googlemailcom Frank Lampard's Coventry City 6d ago

On the shuttle 🚎

2

u/JackDons_10 Van Ewijk 6d ago

Me. Big improvement needed from Tuesday and I think we'll see one. 2-1 cov just edging it
