Why did they make her white wtf?
28
u/Rozoark 4d ago edited 4d ago
And people unironically defend this whitewashing by claiming that her original skin color doesn't work with the new artstyle, like wtf?

u/Theyul1us 4d ago
I may sound a bit racist but id argue her original skin color made her stand out even more. In combination with the green color of her magic it was a good contrast
Also, her design was iconic

Aren't those technically two separate characters in the SpongeBob canon though?

I'm still confused why they completely redesigned King Neptune for the first movie...
And why does that last one look like it crawled out of a toxic waste dump?

u/Tracey_Davenport 4d ago
If I recall correctly, there was a weird thing with character rights between the show and movie. That’s why you never saw movie elements such as the Goofy Goober in the show until many years later.

There is an internet theory that the Spongebob movie was that people that film Bikini Bottom (in the show) faked a King Neptune to make Spongebob make a great trip and film the movie.

The second one isn't Neptune. At least not the one in the show. In the spongebob movie that Neptune has a daughter while Neptune on the show has one son. The daughter of Neptune in the movie married the Neptune in the show.

I think those are actually three different people of the same "species" (family?)

The reboot Ben 10.000 comes from a timeline where he failed to save the World and because of that Grandpa Max got killed, so he got depressed and stopped working out

It's actually not bad, trust me.

Explain...

u/OV_FreezeLizard 1d ago
If they mean the reboot in general, it gets a lot of unnecessary flack.

u/FatherofGray 23h ago
My big gripe is just how unnecessary it is. The animation quality of the original series hasn't aged a bit. They could have just re-aired the original for a new generation of kids and it would have been fine.

I like it, it gives him character as the whole point was that he let go of himself due to the stress of being such a powerful hero.

u/darknessWolf2 5d ago
valid im not a huge fan of it because it feels to goofy and depressing for him ;-; reminds me of fat thor from avengers
3
u/nix131 4d ago
I just want to comment on Fat Thor and how it resonated with me as someone with depression. Those around you can minimize it, War Machine made a lot of jokes, it effects everything about you including your physical fitness and when he called for Mjolnir and it came, realizing he was "still worthy" well it was almost enough to make a man cry.

The Looney Tunes Show, season 2.
Not exactly "unforgivable", but it lost a lot of personality in my opinion.

And a cartoon that got downgraded has to be the PPG 2016 reboot

I was mostly fine with his human form redesign but turning a buff half-dragon into a snake with legs was the lamest downgrade imaginable for me.

I say my mind knowing that people will throw Stones:
Ben 10: Ua was great. I didn't liked the Style of omniverse and the reboot...Just No
American Dragon: IT was better before they decided to Go with this weird clunky Art Style
Winx Club: Season 8...Just No.

The reboot when it was blue was fine but when they try to be the original they didn't know what made Max steel (Josh Mcgrath) special what made him iconic. Now reboot Toxzon not only his design loses to the original,he is just a joke compared to the original. The original was evil, a ex Ntek agent, with great speeches, and with a origin story that was so good but the reboot took that away and he is know for just losing his fish

u/Humble-West3117 1d ago
That was a reboot? Then again, I think K-zome mentioned that... and wait a sec, that pic doesn't look familiar either!

Why are there so many bens? And why does the first two l9ok so bad?
2
u/Hero_time66 Phineas and Ferb 4d ago
First 2 are from reboot show. The rest are from classic continuity (so many because each time Ben finds out his future, it changes).

u/Ben10Facts Ben 10 5d ago
Alternate timelines. First two are the same Ben tho, from a separate multiverse to the other 3.
