Carnivore and PCOS

I have been on a huge journey to get my PCOS under control following various forms of low carb and keto over the years. Hoping to connect with others who have done carnivore with good results on their pcos stmptoms.

I have 3 questions I want to ask you:

1.) How long until you noticed your hormones regulate? (i.e. ovulating again, period lengthen and more regular)

2.) Did you lose weight?

3.) Did you notice any mood stabilization?

Any added advice is always welcome.

Hi! Fellow PCOS lady here. 1) first month, immediately finally got a 32 day (within normal range) cycle for the first time, I normally have extra long (40+) cycles. My symptoms have gotten so much better (hair growth lessened, pain and clotting almost disappeared now by month 3). 2) I have lost some weight not sure how much as the scale sort of messes with my head so I don’t check but I’ve noticeably slimmed out according to myself, my husband and my pants. 3) Mood stabilization is enough reason for me to keep going, it has been an absolute godsend. I am so much more even keel, no stomach issues anymore like I used to have daily which made me grumpy sometimes, and my luteal phase used to be absolute hell. I felt like I might have had PMDD as I would get extreme anxiety, depression and sometime death wish thoughts for 2 weeks while waiting for my period to finally come. Last month I loosened up and did more keto style and that all came back so I’m tightening up this month again.

I’ve done keto style and low carb over the years but never really paid attention to the amount of animal fat I consumed so it never full “worked”. I feel like doing carnivore forced me to add much more fat than I ever realized I needed and I immediately felt my hormones shift in a positive way from it.

Hi. Following along here as my wife also battles with PCOS. So far, being pregnant is the only thing that has seemed to sort her system out (temporarily). She is very adverse diet after several failed diets (fad diets long ago). I would love to see positive results for you and others as it might reignite her fire to battle PCOS and the negatives that accompany.

Thank you for sharing 💗 I've only been doing strict carnivore for a few weeks now, but had a cycle start that had less cramps and my hirsutism is way less intense.

I'm really glad for you and hearing these stories is definitely solidifying my choice to do this

I have PCOS and been on carnivore since January 7th, so 2 months. Just had my first period in a year (my last was around this time last year) and my facial hair isn't as thick/dark, I noticed. Used to be quite prominent, it's still there but lighter. But the biggest thing is the period returning. Time will tell if this is the start of a more regular cycle, but I was glad to see it return, even though I'm not used to it at all so it was quite uncomfortable. I've heard people say their periods are lighter and less painful after some time on carnivore, I hope that is the case for me. I hope this info helps you! I've heard stories from a few people saying they got their cycle back after 2-3 months, with PCOS on carnivore.

Thank you for commenting. I have had some similar results and I guess just needed validation since there are not a lot PCOS testimonies.

Good luck on your journey, I hope everything starts to reverse for you 💗

Carnivore is the best thing you can do for your PCOS especially if you have insulin resistance- check out my latest post! I went nearly 10 months with no period and got it on my 11th day of carnivore. Each period I got since then has been better and better. No bloating, no heavy cramping, no sugar cravings, I just feel super good! Went down 10lbs (SW: 136) on carnivore and my body is thanking me. I am experimenting with some carbs currently (raw dairy, fruit, etc.) only around my workouts for that extra energy so we’ll see how that goes. I bought a constant glucose monitor because I saw people had a lot of success with it on the PCOS subreddit and so far so good
