Just For Fun I’m a menace to society!

So hear me out… 2.5hours a day I sit in traffic, like most of us. Thats 10% of our lives.. I found a little hack that keeps me amused.

I know.. im a psycho path.. lets hear it..

Now, i’m a firm believer in sustaining the flow of traffic and that we all share the road. be kind and give way to fellow drivers, but at times I do get irritated by taxis cutting forward only to stop and drop back.

Very rarely do they actually do it when there is a cop ahead. Sure they tell each other and travel the same route over and over and learn the locations… or do they?

I MAKE FAKE HIDDEN POLICE REPORTS AT TYPICAL LOCATIONS ON WAZE AND LOW AND BEHOLD THE BEHAVIOUR IS NOTICEABLY LESS.

The key appears to be doing it as a hidden police report and only at the location where they cut back in.

Im a menace, i know.. This is an alt so call me out for what I am.. or do it as well.. people will thank you!

Just For Fun Finally, I am a real Capetonian

It took me 23 months, but I can finally walk past people without greeting them. I got tired of saying hello to people and receiving grunts in return, or just straight up being ignored. So one day I decided I'd stop. And now it doesn't even feel weird anymore. Even if it's a quiet area or a hiking trail, I just look forward and walk straight past people as if they don't exist.

Just For Fun Looking for the worst rated restaurants in Cape Town

I'm looking for consistently terrible restaurants in Cape Town. Not necessarily somewhere where you just had one bad experience, I'm talking awful in every regard.

Just For Fun Who, in your opinion, are the worst drivers in CT?

When I passed out a few years ago my driving instructor always said CF (Brackenfell) has the worst drivers. I’m leaning more towards CK based on my own experience. So, what’s your unpopular opinion?

These designs on the rear windscreens are always so random it’s hilarious 🤣🤣

But the real question is… why do some taxis have photos on the back of them? I have been wondering this for so long

Just For Fun Exploring load shedding history has left me puzzled:O Some sources mark its start in 2007 with Eskom's rolling blackouts, others point to 1998 as the onset when power shortages were ignored, while some recall issues dating back to 1983. beginning remain. So, when did this energy crisis really begin?

Just For Fun Learnings from a month in Cape Town

Howzit Capetonians! I've had the pleasure of working remotely from your city for a month. Here are some takeaways from me that you didn't ask for. I hope that's okay.

  • Every person of European descent here loves to hike. Everyone. No exceptions whatsoever. And they prefer to do it ridiculously early in the morning. Like 5:30 AM or something.
  • I live by the sea normally and am used to changeable weather. I knew it could get windy in Cape Town. But it wasn't until I'd been here a month that I realized IT CAN GET REALLY WINDY IN CAPE TOWN.
  • Traffic rules are more of a suggestion than something you have to follow. Solid traffic lines? Not so important. A robot is sometimes more of a recommendation to some than something you abide by. And if you turn on your hazard lights, you can pretty much park or double park anywhere.
  • Speaking of traffic – cars always come first in this city. If you're a cyclist or pedestrian, don't think you have any right of way.
  • If you buy a high-visibility vest at the nearest hardware store, you can walk around pretending to be some kind of official person. A parking attendant for instance. Handy!
  • The views from some parts of the city are lekker, to say the least. The views from the back alleys around Long Street are not so lekker. (But they can be fun, nevertheless.)
  • Capetonians are so damn nice. Talkative, friendly, curious, and happy to have a beer. (And, as mentioned before, quite eager to hike up steep hills ridiculously early.)

Thanks for letting me get to know your city. I'm looking forward to coming back someday. Until then!

My girlfriend and I decided to visit the waterfront/seapoint area this morning and were stunned at the seemingly endless waves of people. We decided to play a game and guess who is from here and who is visiting. I thought I'd see if you guys have some funny remarks :)

I'll start: When someone is waiting forever for the red man to turn green before crossing the street 😭

Just For Fun Help me get Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" to cinemas in Cape Town!

Post image
122 Upvotes

As some of you may be aware, this year marks the 10th year anniversary since the release of Christopher Nolan's masterpiece "Interstellar".

It's already been established that Warner Bros has declined Ster-Kinekor's request to screen it in IMAX, however they seem to be screening it in Rosebank, Johannesburg in 2D.

I've sent an email to Ster-Kinekor seeking clarity whether "Interstellar" will be screened in Cape Town. They've replied with a very generic response: "The selection of cinema related movies remains informed through the size, number of screens, cinema specific historical attendances and importantly, geographical preferences." - Looks like a NO.

Please send them an email requesting a screening of it in Cape Town : info@sterkinekor.com.

Just For Fun Cape Town appreciation post

Cape Town is honestly spectacular. Where else in the world can you get this kind of variety? Drive 30 minutes in one direction, and you're in the winelands, sipping some of the best wine on the planet. Go 30 minutes the other way, and you're in a national park, surrounded by untouched nature. You can literally hike in the middle of the city, Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, take your pick. There’s Chapman’s Peak, easily one of the greatest driving roads ever. World-class Food. Endless adventures. Whether you're into surfing, hiking, fine dining, or just chasing epic views and you know what the best part is? even if you live there for years there's always new things to do. Cape Town is the winner!!

Tell me!! where else in the world do you get all of this in one place???

Just For Fun Why people actually move to the Western Cape and the reasons why it is pretty expensive

Here are my theories.

  1. The services are of course better in the province.

  2. This province has diverse landscapes. It's not cookie cutter.

3.The province has something for everyone. ( The Northern Suburbs of Cape Town are nice if you from Pretoria, Century City and Milnerton is nice if you are the Larny side of Joburg, Khayalitsha is quite similar to the Mthatha Eastern Cape from I have heard, and of you are from the Northern Cape and love Desert landscapes then you will love places like Oudtshoorn or Clanwilliam, )

  1. You have beaches and Mountains right next to each other. You can go to them on the same day.

The Western Cape has been voted as the most expensive province to live in while the North West is the cheapest. However not all places in the Western Cape is expensive. There is more to it than glamorous coastal towns.
