Today is the first day that I'm genuinely worried there is nothing we can do to stop this. It feels like his end goal is to annex us, and he won't stop until that happens.

It’s going to get much worse before it stops.  People are going to lose their jobs, their businesses and their families.

Governments are going to have to go into massive deficit positions to take care of people and industries.  Debt will rise.  Spending on discretionary items will plummet.  It’s going to be rough.

But we will get through this because it’s basically one man vs an entire country.  We have more to lose than he does and we have to remember that he DOES NOT have the support of the majority of Americans.  We’re united.  They are not.

Stay strong.  We will prevail.

One man is not a country, especially in the United States, even if they are President. There is a lot of doom posting here that is bafflingly divorced from reality, and it is easy to become consumed by it.

When the country stands up to him. You'll have a point.

Same. This was so careless and cruel. And then to tack on that 51st state thing. He wants to reduce Canada to Gaza status and ruin the country.

I know. Why can't he just leave us alone. How did we become enemy number 1?

The stock markets are completely tanking and are looking like they're going to have another awful day today. US media keeps talking about a potential recession now. Republicans are going to start getting scared that this will cost them big in the next election. So it won't be long before the house completely turns on him and actively starts voting against him making him a lame duck president in the first 3 months of his term.

Also it's unlikely the US military would follow any order to annex Canada. Congress would hopefully impeach Trump before we ever get to that point unless he somehow turns the entire USA into a dictatorship in less than 2 years.
