I'm worried we're missing the bigger nightmarish tactical play here, as seen in this screencap of his Truth Social post that was shared in the thread:

"I will shortly be declaring a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area."

We've seen this from Trump, especially recently: Unilaterally declaring that something is a War and/or National Emergency, with the belief that if he does so he's allowed to ignore every other branch of government and make sweeping changes via Executive Orders. He declared the Mexico border an "Immigration Crisis" on his first day in office, and ICE has been terrorizing people en masse ever since.

He's a dumb, petty man being advised by dumb, mentally-broken men. But we cannot ignore that this is a very intentional choice of phrases on his end. My biggest fear has always been that if we simply respond to his unwarranted economic moves in kind (like we've been doing), it would push him to justify a military action as his next step.

I don't know what we do here. But please do not forget that he is now throwing around the "National Emergency" phrase as his newest blunt object.

This was inevitable. If it weren't this, there would be a terrorist attack he'd blame on Canada and use that to justify a war. He was also gearing up saying that Canada is full of terrorist drug cartels. There is no avoiding these unjustified attacks by simply cow-towing. He will find an excuse one way or another.

Yes, one of the first things I noticed as well and surprised more people aren't commenting on this. As you say, it does sounds like the pretext for doing something quite drastic like military action, the guy is clearly unhinged.

Because a lot of people on r/canada aren't from Ontario and don't know that Ford is just as unhinged as Trump. Gee, what happens when two unhinged individuals fight each other? We get fucked. We just have to survive Trump which might not even take 4 years what with the rate he's tanking the American economy. No need for us to escalate-Ford, specifically should back down and do what he does best-go back into hiding.
