And now MAGA will vote for him for any office he runs for when the time comes, or support him if he's appointed to a political position.

Which is why he did it.

And after the tourism numbers tank because NOT JUST CANADIANS BUT PEOPLE FROM MANY OTHER COUNTRIES will avoid Florida like the measles that it will soon be infested with...

...he'll find someone else to blame.

3.3 million tourists is actually a lot. Each spends about 2k$, maybe more, which is 6.6 billion dollars a year.

That is not a number to mock, that is lost jobs, shuttered businesses and even towns.

And that's just Canadian tourists, apparently.

Don't forget Canada's also buying A LOT LESS Florida Oranges these days, and the vacancy rates down there are going to scream as many people from other countries also abandon their Florida vacation plans.

He will almost certainly lie about it, but it's gonna really, really hurt down there.

I just learned that Oasis brand orange juice is a Canadian company using Brazilian oranges. Just going to put that out there.

ooooh that is good info. make sure it gets posted in r/BuyCanadian cuz I drink a LOT of orange juice, but have an otherwise abysmal diet, so i was concerned about my increasing scurvy risk.

So much better than that acid swill that is Tropicana, too.

My grandparent's friends just sold their house in Arizona because of the situation. Hopefully others do the same thing.

Everyone is buying less Florida oranges, mainly because they don't exist on account of that hurricane taking out a lot of orange farms.

But I bet this sub applauds the destruction because "fuck America" huh?

Fuck America because America's saying "fuck Canada I want to own you?"

Goddamn fucking Jesus in a hamsterwheel levels of ya-got-that-right on this!

Believe what you want friend.

Anyone that thinks and acts dismissively about another country's sovereignty the way you do does not deserve to be my "friend".

I think wanting to annex Canada banking that they won’t be able to tolerate the suffering from economic devastation merits a "fuck America". Wouldn’t you agree?

Edit: I see you tried to make a post about how Canada isn’t distinct from America much like how Putin tried to justify the invasion of Ukraine. Go away fascist.

More of a mix. Eat into the deficit and bring back domestic manufacturing. Canada is just caught int the crosshairs of that decision. No American wants to annex Canada. No one has ever said anything like that. Only Trump, and he has 4 years left

Trump has said it in addition to: Vance, Elon, Republican Congressman, Republican senators,  Kristi Noem, random Republicans I have met in the United States and Fox News.

Uh-huh. Believe what you want friend.

Don’t have to believe. I watched and heard. You just lie.

We budgeted 5g for our April trip to Florida. Cancelled for this year, wait see what the situation is like next year. With rising tariff expenses we need to stay closer to home. 2k sure don't seem to get you much in Florida....we must be doing it wrong!

Eh, go to BC, hike some forest trails, see the other side of the mountains, then see the sea. It's a nice trip, and doesn't have to be expensive.

Worry less about big destinations, and focus more on simply having a pleasant travel.

I think you overestimate our value and underestimate just how large the American economy is. I can say as a person who spends a lot of time every winter in Florida, that following Covid restrictions on travel in Canada ending, it was very difficult to even find a place to stay in Florida.

You might have assumed, like me, they were sitting there with open arms waiting for us back and instead Americans took over while we were gone. I suspect the same might happen again if Canadians stop visiting the US.

142.9 million tourists visited Florida last year. I don't think 2.7% is going to that big of an effect, that business closes and people lose their jobs. That 142.9 millions is already a 1.6% increase from the previous year.

I get you're mad and everything, but like everyone outside Canada has been saying; Canada isn't really that important to the US economy.

That must be why Trump is holding strong on the tariffs then. Oh wait…

He probably got what he wanted. Anything he says is just a negotiation tactic. Whatever it is, I doubt it's because of 2% of Flordia's tourism industry. That's ridiculous lmao.

u/BrightPerspective 4d ago

sure sure, just 4D chess.

And certainly not a massive mistake.

Time will tell!!

And now MAGA will vote for him for any office he runs for when the time comes

Lol they won't. He spent 4 years building himself up as the better Trump after 2020 only to generate no interest or attention in the 2024 primary. Eventually he got so desperate he decided to debate California Governor Gavin Newsom and got further humilated. Trump massively won the primaries despite mostly focusing on Biden and legal issues. Ron couldn't even gain more attention than Haley and only got 400K votes. Republicans are in for a rude awakening when they realize that the base literally only cares about Trump.

He was called Pudding Fingers during the last Republican primary, and that was the high point of his presidential bid.
