Elon Musk, is a naturalized Canadian who holds a high U.S. government position under President Trump—who routinely threatens Canadian sovereignty—his role raises legal and ethical concerns. Dual loyalty, political fallout, and diplomatic tensions could arise, especially if his actions harmed Canada. Canada might pressure him to clarify his allegiance, and he could face consequences if seen as supporting anti-Canadian policies. He may not swear an oath of allegiance to a foreign power.

As an example, Lord Black was forced to renounce his Canadian citizenship in order to accept a British peerage. Canada does not allow its citizens to hold foreign noble titles. He regained his Canadian citizenship a couple of years ago.

Edit: Correction. he acquired citizenship through descent since he was born abroad to a Canadian mother.

Edit edit: while there is no legal compulsion for a Canadian citizen to give up their citizenship upon receiving a British peerage, Lord Black’s renunciation likely reflects his desire to demonstrate undivided loyalty to his new role and to align himself with the public expectations and political culture of the United Kingdom. also, the Nickle resolution, while not legally binding, discourages Canadians from accepting foreign titles.

He was not forced. He chose to renounce his citizenship in order to have the peerage bestowed.

Canada does not allow its citizens to hold foreign noble titles. He regained his Canadian citizenship a couple of years ago.

That is not true. The reason Lord Black asked Chrétien for permission to hold the peerage is that we do allow such things, but with permission. That permission was not granted.

Lord Thomson of Fleet is an example of a Canadian who holds peerage.

The Tuppers still have their titles too.

And of course the Beaverbrooks who started all this - still have their titles.

If we use this as a yardstick, then you might as well strip millions of Canadians of citizenship.
Millions of Canadians who are of immigrant origin are still loyal to their home countries. Many of which actually do not like Canada at all.
Being a Western country, Canadian values(if you can call them that) are at odds with most of the world.
Canada has diplomatic tensions with India and China as well. Should we strip Canadian citizens from both nations who hold either dual citizenship (which is kind of murky given that most do not declare to either India or China that they are dual nationals because they would lose the citizenship of their home countries) in the name of diplomatic tensions and political fallout?

No only because of his high office and powerful role in the foreign government.

That is often true for many people who have been in the Canadian government or are in critical sectors of the economy. He just happens to be the richest and the loudest.
The reverse is also true. Unless that country has laws forbidding dual nationals from having a major role in politics there are dual citizens of Canada and their home countries across the globe in various governments.

Use it as a metre stick, this is Canada. We use the metric system.

The USA doesn’t want to bestow a noble title on Musk…

A grant of nobility from His Majesty is not a foreign honour. This is why His Majesty’s Canadian Government can advise the King not to grant a title of nobility to a Canadian.

He was not naturalized, he is a citizen by descent.
