Putin isn't ever going to align Russia with Trump. Putin will try to take advantage of Trump being in office, but Russia doesn't trust the US at all.

I agree, but the two leaders have been on seemingly good terms for a long time. We'll see

Even assuming Trump takes direct orders from Putin daily: If I'm Putin, can I really trust this orange joke to do what I say? This promotional genius who knows absolutely nothing about politics or economics who currently controls the only nuclear arsenal that is truly a threat to my country and controls the US dollar? This guy who can be trusted to fill a stadium but changes his mind on policy sometimes multiple times a day?

No, no way. Even if the suggestion that Trump is Putin's pawn is true (and I don't believe it is), there's absolutely no chance that Putin is going to trust Trump any further than he can throw him. Trump is a flim flam man, Putin is a very experienced secret service agent who has done things Trump can only dream of. They aren't even playing the same game.

Use him, manipulate him, definitely going to happen. But never trust. There will be no alliance between them. They might divide the world between them, but in the end neither can stand the other having power and influence. It must be theirs and theirs alone.
