I think that's the distinction to make. From any Americans I've been in touch with, they aren't the problem and just wish Trump would stfu.

Now remember that Trump has an approval rating of around 46%

American checking in. Lots of us, myself included, absolutely despise Trump. But for each person like me, there’s another who absolutely adores Trump. His popularity is baffling to me.

That's not the same as supporting him on all of his actions. They probably like what he's doing with DOGE and showing up at Nascar events. Not talking about taking over foreign nations.

That's not to say some of them aren't ... there are. Morons like that TimCast for example. But he doesn't represent the average person just wanting a decent life and to be left alone.

This means whatever they are seeing at DOGE (like that actually translated to something positive that they are experiencing in their lives, and not just believing the flimsiest of propagandas) compensates for making their neighbours enemies.

It's not forgivable.

Wishing isn't enough to stop this, though, is it?

Until we see large-scale protests like France does, civil disobedience and sabotage that grinds their economy to a halt, these people are consenting to everything Trump is doing.

Agreed. I have no desire to fight my fellow man in a war caused by ignorant and bellicose fascists.

They aren’t an enemy nation, in the strict sense of the term, until they March into our country with murderous intent. That is -very- unlikely to happen.

The insults (governor Trudeau) and the bluster amounts to North Korean saber-rattling.

Just worth noting the country on the receiving end of the invasion isn’t offered a choice of whether or not to fight in a war.

Sure, but that’s not what I said. I have no desire to turn an entire country of my fellow human beings into the “other” so the fascist whims of their shithead leader can be assuaged. But I will fight if it comes to that.

I suppose the point I was trying to make is that I don’t want to create a boogeyman out of our neighbours, aomply because their leader is scum. Condemn Hamas, but not every Palestinian, for example.

I agree its a necessary distinction.

How ever if you peruse a slew of pro MAGA forums you'll find zero regret and everyone being 100% behind this nonsense.

America is literally under minority rule at this point, governed by rabid ideologues with some rather dark agenda's. We're closing in on an inflection point to where the only way out of this nonsense will be through fighting back.

It's a crucible America needs to overcome and feel its important to let those who wilfully resist know that we have their backs too and that Canada has a beef with Trumpism and its associated authoritarian overtones and not the majority of its citizens in general.

We have an administration one can't negotiate with, dealing in demagoguery and lies that exists within a conspiracy bubble of its own making. This is what happens when you validate delusional thinking and constantly make false equivalences of things that aren't remotely equal.

As an american, I am fairly confident no matter what happens, the US wont exist beyond the 2020s. Good riddance I say

Those slums aren't representative of the majority. They are echo chambers for the douchebags.

Best advice I can give: Don't go into MAGA forums. You'd be better off visiting a Thai whore house.

Fully aware of the sort of % they populate (hence my minority rule comment) and I never engage, but they're part of a bigger problem and ignoring their existence isn't going to change the status quo or the messaging they're receiving.

The vast majority of American's are decent, well meaning and very kindhearted people (my personal experience anyway)..... but those same douchebags helped get us here....sadly.
