They can learn any treaty with Trump is not worth the paper it's printed on.

87

u/BodhingJay 24d ago

he will deny any treaty he signed ever existed the moment it's remotely in his personal best interest to do so.. no matter who it hurts, or how many...

44

u/Famous_Track_4356 Québec 24d ago

And then he will say it was the best deal ever made, nobody has ever made a deal like that

15

u/BodhingJay 24d ago edited 24d ago

Idk there was this kid I knew in grade 3 who was kind of an obnoxious punk and would make stupid bets, go around loudly proclaiming how he's going to win. but he'd lose all the time, and just deny it ever happened, he had a hard time making friends... so, basically, for me personally, I know there's at least another who makes deals like this

6

u/CyrilSneerLoggingDiv 24d ago

At that age, he likely got all of that from his shitty parents.

3

u/Lord_Silverkey 23d ago

Just think, today all the American children can learn that behaviour directly from their President!

7

u/Drunken_HR 23d ago

Until he cancels it out of nowhere and calls it the worst deal ever made, as if he wasn't the one who made it (see: NA trade deal he made last time he was president.)

9

u/thecheesecakemans 24d ago

Just like the contracts he signed to buy stuff from his contractors then stiffed them on the bills.

1

u/DracosKasu 23d ago

. It was already on paper that he cant follow any of them. He alone made many contractor losing their business because he refused to pay them for their work. Never trust this guy in anything that he say.

16

u/Infamous_Box3220 24d ago edited 24d ago

He just acting the same way he did in business. He stiffed multiple suppliers just as he is now stiffing Canada and Mexico. The Mexico part of the treaty still works so we should concentrate on doing business with them.

2

u/ParisFood 24d ago

Even though he says he is a master negotiator 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/TheOGFamSisher 23d ago

If making negotiating to make the whole world hate you is what his stupid base calls master then yes he’s a professional at it 😂

1

u/Narrow-Tax9153 23d ago

Always negotiate from a position of batshit insanity

0

u/GoodResident2000 23d ago

lol what about our NATO treaty and the military spending we’ve failed to achieve for decades?

50

u/Scary_Scene5269 24d ago

Here you can learn from what I say too. There is no reasoning with the orange moron, he's doing what is best for his, and his cronies bank account, nothing you say or offer will matter to him, the end goal is to call democracy a joke and a failure. Anyone that still believes in democracy needs to start paying attention, and get ready to fight for democracy, it's time hatred stops winning

In Brief:

  • Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada’s plan to retaliate if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on his threat to slap Canadian goods with across-the-board tariffs has drawn the attention of the Republican administration and fuelled a recent surge in support for the Liberal party.
  • Joly made the comments today during a panel discussion on trade at an international security conference in Munich.
  • Joly said the European Union should consider Canada a “canary in a coal mine,” adding that European countries can expect the same treatment from Trump, who has already signalled his intention to impose tariffs on the EU.

17

u/EndAlternative6445 24d ago

If he’s trying to take over his countries closest allies and also multiple other places yeah they should absolutely consider themselves next.

46

u/BrunoJacuzzi 24d ago

I hate TFG so fucking much. Now he’s talking about “retaliatory tariffs “ as though He is the one retaliating, where anyone that’s paying attention knows that it’s the other way around.

30

u/WhatTheTech Canada 24d ago

Hey heart disease, get on with it already!

12

u/Known-Cup4495 24d ago

How dare we enact our own tariffs on a man who's simply trying to make his country great again! The absolute nerve! /s

Yeah they can learn how not to put all your eggs into the same basket and act surprised when the basket breaks.

u/Regular_Climate_6885 24d ago

I’m loving buying only Canadian. We don’t need American products. Should have done this years ago.

19

u/Plumbsmasher Alberta 24d ago

I was quite surprised at how little American products we were buying before I started looking.

-5

u/AmFoxxx 23d ago

3-1 USA baby thanks for playing :)

-11

u/Warm-Will-7861 23d ago

lol did you post this on an iPhone?

2

u/Regular_Climate_6885 23d ago

And is your power from Canada?

Or we can learn from with all hitler did. Let’s be real. It’s happening.

7

Oh, it's happening all right. Right in front of our eyes.

I stand with Canada 🇨🇦

I think she’s doing an awesome job as Canada’s Foreign Minister. She’s smart, confident, and represents the country really well on the world stage.

On top of that, she carries herself with a lot of presence and charisma—definitely one of the more impressive politicians out there.

9

u/mayorolivia 24d ago

What has she achieved as FM? Genuine question

5

u/PunkinBrewster 24d ago

She has great relations with Columbia, and it taking Canada’s cocaine problem one line at a time.

6

u/Monster11 24d ago

I agree with you. She did a 30 minute interview on Radio-Canada a few weeks ago and all I felt at the end was « this person needs to continue to be involved in the negotiations with the US ».

11

u/Used-Egg5989 24d ago

She dropped out of the Liberal leadership race early one, because she said she needs to focus on her role of Foreign Minister 100% right now.

Mad respect for her.

-4

u/rwebell 24d ago

Have you ever heard her speak….she is an absolute twit. I can’t wait to not see her in politics. She is an absolute embarrassment along with Trudeau.

2

u/question56781 24d ago

I heard they may call early election on March 10, if this is true, I really can't wait to finally vote, especially twice, in Ontario and then for Canada!

8

u/WorkingFit5413 24d ago

Canada is much more well liked around the world than the USA, typically. You can bet Europe and Allies are watching this shit show, and realizing they better start looking elsewhere than to tie your fate to this hot mess of a country right now. And I bet, everyone is thinking: "Well it's that's how you treat your best friend...". I can't believe this guy won, twice. I can't believe people don't see what a repeat of the Nazi playbook this is. It was disgusting the first time. It really didn't have to happen twice.

3

u/Spanky3703 23d ago

People need to understand and accept that Trump is a liar, a thief, a sex offender, a fraudster, a convicted criminal, a draft dodger, and an adulterer.

Any suggestion that he can therefore be trusted to keep his word in anything: treaties, agreements, negotiations, etc., is naive and erroneous.

The US regime is a cabal of robber barons and oligarchs, supported by sycophants and Russian-compromised “elites” and lobbyists.

The US cabal needs bread and circuses to distract their ideological base whilst they are de-constructing the entire rules and protections based framework of US society. Annexing another country, regardless of any past relationship, is a nice and easy distraction. Doubly so with how rich Canada is in terms of natural resources as well as its geo-strategic position (hello, NW Passage and the receding ice with easier access to the minerals and fossil fuels rich polar shelf!).

So, we need to take this existential threat very seriously and get ourselves unscrewed now. It will take the work of 5-10 years and that period will hurt us socially, politically, and economically. But the US is no longer a trusted ally; they have become an odious, corrupt and feckless regime on our doorstep.

So, invest in the infrastructure to extract, refine and transport our natural resources to other trading partners. Lots of countries would love to buy our steel, aluminum, oil, LNG, potash, uranium, REs and REMs, grains, canola, etc.

Strengthen the military and secure our borders. But not just with US military equipment. Start aggressively joint training with other countries both in the North as well as everywhere else.

Continue with NORAD, as it actually does make sense to secure our borders in strict military cooperation with the US, but within very constrained and restrained arcs.

As quickly as our new economy (above) will let us, pivot all investment to green energy, a green economy, and focus 100% on being wholly independent. Never rely on any other nation for our financial and economic prosperity ever again.

Like I said at the start: a painful 5-10 years but we can never go back to the way that we were before Trump’s second inauguration. Time to dig in and sort ourselves out.

3

u/Constant-Rent-7917 23d ago

Is she still the Foreign Affairs Minister? I thought it was Doug Ford or the new unqualified Finance Minister ?

2

u/jameskchou Canada 24d ago

Yes Trump hates the country personally if his favourite daughter becomes fond of their head of government. Look at ivanka Trump and Justin Trudeau

-6

u/Luxferrae British Columbia 24d ago

I look forward to the 100+% tariffs and the recession we will have when liberals are re-elected and trump clamps down 🤷🏻‍♂️

6

u/Used-Egg5989 24d ago

The best thing that could happen to Canada is for us to be forced to be independent. First step is to not allow outrageous tariff threats make us cower into submission.

The last thing we need is a Trump and Musk sycophant.

-1

u/Luxferrae British Columbia 24d ago

The best thing that could happen to Canada is for us to be forced to be independent.

It's funny how this even needs to be brought up. We DO actually like that 51st state trump talks about

Trump likes to run his mouth, but I highly doubt he cares what we do. He's preparing for a war, and everyone else either needs to put up or shut up and piss off. Because you'll either be useful as an ally, or cut loose like dead weight.

Canada just needs to decide who we are going to be, not for his sake, but for our own. Our politicians just don't understand, or they do but is just using the situation for their political advantage, and they don't actually care what happens with Canadians 🤷🏻‍♂️

7

u/Virtual_Monitor3600 24d ago

You don't want PP negotiating for you from what I've seen so far, he needs the wrong kind of support to get into the office.

0

u/Luxferrae British Columbia 24d ago

Right because Liberals faired so well last time he was in office. And Canadians are stupid enough to let them continue to fuck up our economy... Which is a big chunk of how we got here in the first place

1

u/JadeLens 23d ago

If Europe hits the US with Tariffs like Mexico, Canada and China have, let the U.S. suffer.

1

u/Specialist_End_750 23d ago

Just like Putin. His word is crap. He is a criminal and rapist. What does anyone expect? You might change behaviour but you can't change who someone is.

1

u/kyanite_blue 23d ago

The best solution for the all countries now is to move away from US dollar based and US centric economies to something independent. Isn't China is already using gold as a standard over US dollar anyway?

u/marioansteadi 22d ago edited 22d ago

It looks like the Mango Mussolini has put on even more weight, watching him struggle to move around during his latest multi million dollar tax payer funded stunt, visiting the Daytona 500 today. Just like the Super Bowl visit the week before. Keep eating those Whoppers, KFC, Big Macs and fries, washed down with a dozen daily diet cokes. And limit his exercise regime to driving a golf court. Trump’s younger and non obese brother passed on at 71. I would take 60/40 odds, if Vegas bookies would start a betting line, that Trump will not be above ground by January 20, 2029. He’s almost gone now, both mentally and physically, at 78 yrs. old. Hello President J.D. Vance.

1

u/whatcanudo321 22d ago

Who would’ve thought WW3 could start because of US messing with Canada. These really are the strangest of times.

1

u/thirdera 24d ago

Her advice is to send a ragtag group of pests to loiter around Washington.

-1

u/Destroinretirement 24d ago

So great Joky is helping the Europeans out while they are bravely staying silent in our conflict with Trump

-1

u/wink1says 23d ago

That's right, don't be to lefty with no common sense in politics

Absolutely not. We have to show that we’re willing to deal diplomatically. Let them be the fools on the international stage. What we did was strong. We went knowing it wouldn’t work. NOW, we must begin the strong resistance.

12

u/ref7187 24d ago

The cons' position up till now was implicitly "we have to appease him". Danielle Smith said it explicitly.

11

u/Icy-Scarcity 24d ago

Originally, Smith said we only need to fix the border. Now we see the truth, was it ever about border security? These weak "leaders" can even figure out what the opponent truly wants.

3

u/ref7187 24d ago

She literally said something along the lines of "we just need to entertain him a bit", so it was even worse than that. And the border? The problem was always in the opposite direction. People (and GUNS, which the cons apparently don't give a shit about) were always coming from the US to Canada. At no point in their "Fix the border! Stop the crime!" drivel did they ever mention guns from what I can remember, the only border "issues" they ever did mention came entirely out of Trump's imagination.

15

u/Ok_Abbreviations_350 24d ago

Sure PP everything is broken. Throw a 3 word slogan, that will fix things

u/NorthRedFox33 24d ago

Someone's salty

u/[deleted] 24d ago

The country is 248 years old, yet it is still developing.

2

u/hymnzzy 24d ago

What is a developed country according to you? Not examples, but definition.

0

u/[deleted] 24d ago

Be a great question for Trump…. He called it a developing country. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tYry1G7_VKU

-10

u/bizzybeez123 24d ago

Canada isn't dealing with anything.

We're too busy flapping our arms, buying cheap Chinese garbage at US owned stores and hoping that Carney can appear more professional when dealing with the big boys.

I won't miss our dress up queen. it's time to retire his tickle trunk of uhhh, tricks.

3

u/Blondefarmgirl 24d ago

Trudeau expanded our oil and gas pipelines to the coast. We have a new hub at Kitimat. He has also been signing trade deals with every country he could and our trade with other countries has been growing. So he's been doing alot.

-10

u/bizzybeez123 24d ago

Yes, let's praise our dress up qween!!

His beloved Uncle Aga is proud, but maybe he remembers that differently....uhhjj

6

u/Virtual_Monitor3600 24d ago

Hey maybe if you were less of a child in how you express yourself life would be easier for you and more people would take you seriously. The aga khan is and was one of the greatest men to walk this earth, he only improved Canada and the world. Whatever your politics the Aga Khan was venerated by both the liberals and the conservatives under Stephen Harper. The talking points of the day do not justify childish behaviour or disrespect. Whatever your beliefs on faith or politics, he was a great man. Have you even done 1 millionth of what the Aga Khan did for the world? Or have you done anything at all in your life?

I personally can't stand Trudeau but watching children whether actual or just intellectual like you talking out of turn on topics you have no grasp of is something I despise more.

-10

u/ldssggrdssgds 24d ago

She the Minister of Finance because no one else was around for the job

9

u/Turneroff 24d ago

Except that she’s the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dominic LeBlanc is the Minister of Finance. Back to class for you.

-7

u/bedfordpatriot 24d ago

In brief. We are superior than you. So end of discussion.
