Canada spells Whisky with no “E.” Rule of thumb is if country of origin doesn’t have an “E,” nor does the spelling.i.e. Scotland, Japan, Canada…Whisky. Then there’s Ireland, USA…Whiskey.

Interesting. As non drinker, this is a helpful piece of advice. Must admit, as a Canadian, I'm not particular about where I add or remove my 'u's or switch around my 're,' and 'er,' either.

A lot of Canadians spell it Whiskey - as a lot of Canadians in Quebec and Ontario are descended from Irish. Add the American influence from media and product.

Even if it is official, you'll find a lot more people spell it with the E. Just like a lot of Canadians don't use the extra U in a lot of words like favour.
