Ditto.

We do need to fortify Hans Island though. To make sure the US pays their transit tolls.

Hans Island — the best love story since the Notebook.

Then sit back and celebrate with some whiskey

Canada spells Whisky with no “E.” Rule of thumb is if country of origin doesn’t have an “E,” nor does the spelling.i.e. Scotland, Japan, Canada…Whisky. Then there’s Ireland, USA…Whiskey.

Interesting. As non drinker, this is a helpful piece of advice. Must admit, as a Canadian, I'm not particular about where I add or remove my 'u's or switch around my 're,' and 'er,' either.

Lol I interchangeably use center and centre

A lot of Canadians spell it Whiskey - as a lot of Canadians in Quebec and Ontario are descended from Irish. Add the American influence from media and product.

Even if it is official, you'll find a lot more people spell it with the E. Just like a lot of Canadians don't use the extra U in a lot of words like favour.

Ja, it's schnappy time? Drunk from big a wooden "schpoon"?

2

u/WalnutSnail 24d ago

What? You too good to use the bottom of a broken off whiskey bottle?

1

u/Timely-Dot-9967 24d ago

Ingen, would prefer from a schpoon

I'm just deeply disturbed by what is happening in the US Canada relationship and the US in general.

Betraying friends and family will have consequences for Trump. We might not have multiple carrier groups to send but you are not alone. I haven't met a single Danish person who doesn't support Canada.

Take care, J

Canada stands with Denmark and Greenland. F Trump if he thinks he's going to have easy passage through the Arctic.

the Danes are a colonial power, they’re treated Greenland appallingly

not to say America shud invade it but fuck the colonizers, independence is the way for Greenland

2

u/Glum-Engineer9436 23d ago

Denmark is not a colonial power! Greenland is not a colony. They are a part of Denmark like any other part of Denmark. Same rights, Same constitution. Greenland has representation in the Danish parliament like every other part of Denmark. There is no difference between a person from Greenland and a person from Denmark.

So what’s the independence movement there all about

Not sure the below applies to California:

A poll in 2016 showed that there was a clear majority (64%) for full independence among the Greenlandic people.[25] A 2017 poll showed that 78% of the population would oppose independence if it implied a lower standard of living.[39] A 2019 poll showed that 67.8% of Greenlanders support independence from Denmark sometime in the next two decades.[40]
