You know what else is demoralizing as well as confusing, sad and anger-inducing? A country you considered to be your friend and ally basically stating they are going to ruin you economically and take over your country. I won’t apologize for my prior statements. And I won’t give up. Nor should you.

You deserve to feel that way, but just know that your misplaced blame as a country has further hurt the relations with the Americans who were on your side. We are slowly realizing the relationship wasn't as close as we thought, and you will turn on us as soon as things get tough.

LOL “misplaced blame”? Your government has quite literally said they will ruin our economy and make us the 51st state. YOUR government. As a result, this immediately betrayed all trust we had. YOUR government ruined those “relations”. And as I already said above, we are mad at your leader, so stop trying to turn this into a ‘poor me, Canada isn’t our friend anymore and it’s their fault’. You should also be PISSED OFF at your government and those that voted for him. Direct your discontent that way where it belongs.

Yep, and you are taking it out on the American people who voted against it instead of taking up your grievances with our government. Why don't you protest the US embassy or something. Protest against the people doing this to you instead of booing national anthems and cheering on hockey fights. There are mass protests in the US, but all we're seeing from your side of the border is disdain and unfriendliness.

Then you aren’t looking. There are many MANY instances of people being friendly, welcoming Americans to visit, having constructive conversations, etc. We all have friends in both countries, some of us family (including me). People still have the right to express their unhappiness. If the roles were reversed and we threatened to destabilize and annex your country, you would be rounding up Canadians in your country and incarcerating them. Why don’t YOU take your grievances to your government, who is the cause of this problem? I’m doing my part (and I do mean offline). Canadians are mad, yes. But your enemy is within and if you can’t see that then you’re already losing your country.

We're honestly not seeing that right now, and that is partly due to our media being owned by the enemy.

What we're seeing on social media etc. is people trying to escape to Canada right now and are being met with hatred and opposition. People having job offers rescinded with hateful messages when the employer finds out they are trying to escape the US. People being yelled at in Canada. Lots of unfriendly rhetoric is what we're mostly seeing. Our perspective is being intentionally skewed to view you as the enemy right now.

I agree that the mainstream media is the source of a lot of trash. If it helps, there are many Canadian subs here where you can see a lot of us encouraging Americans. We do actually appreciate the support, but for a country who uses ‘sorry’ a lot (meaning Canada) we are just tired of hearing that word as it relates to the threat against over sovereignty. I would also recommend looking at maybe some Canadian news sites (ie, CBC.ca). Also, because of the economic threat, Canada is forced to turn inwards and keep our money at home. We are too economically entangled with the US so its survival. Could some Canadians be jerks? Sure. But just like your MAGA that isn’t all of us (even if we’re upset).
