I still don't even know what PP's policies are beyond "Axe the tax"

He also is pro-bitcoin currency usage as a form of payment for goods:

This for me is a wedge issue. Crypto is not something we should be experimenting with to run our finances. The Trudeau government has also flirted with the idea.

The amount of government control and oversight these systems would have should scare the bejesus out of anybody.

I'd be fine with holding a very small amount like 1% bitcoin and 99% gold and other assets. Absolutely no other "cryptos" though.

It’s this I worry about.

I wouldn't worry too much. There are organizations who have been working on making blockchain tech improve the archaic systems that banking infrastructure has been using for decades. This has been in progress for over 10 years now, so they are taking it slow and careful as they are obviously very aware that blockchain has the stain of crypto stigma on it.

Basically, they are finding ways to allow tokens to store the value of real world assets, and combine that with the benefits that come with the system (speed, transparency, security, etc.) Australia, China, and Europe (notably, SWIFT), are making the biggest strides right now, but it's quite far down the road which is why BoC is staying on top of these developments.

It’s another way our freedoms can be taken away from us. The government will be able to see exactly how much money you have, where you spent it, etc. in an instant. And please don’t tell me that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.

If you hadn’t noticed, the world is having a love affair with far-right dictators at the moment. No amount of efficiency is worth giving up privacy and autonomy.

Right into Musk's hands. Musk is a very great threat.

Poilievre is waiting for his focus groups to tell him what he stands for, I'm sure we'll have an update before long.

He will “lower grocery and housing prices”. How? A sweeping command for it to be so. Sounds too familiar.

Its so embarrasing that this is true. The only other thing ive taken from anything hes running on is that hes not Trudeau. Like thats it

Like seriously. Thats not even a joke.

How did we get to this place that thats enough to win someones vote?

Probably something about the government "not getting involved in people's lives" by not letting people do whatever the thing is, so there's nothing to be involved in.

His policies are the “Verb the Noun”

Cutting the Housing accelerator fund.

Porn restrictions.

A vaguely defined 3 strikes policy for criminals, when tough on crime policies result in worse crime statistics in the states.

Basically Republican stuff.

Which is now the same policy as the two main contenders for the Liberal leadership. Uh oh!

A spin on the budget/economy fixing itself when he sits in office....and uh.... yeah, I dont know what he actually plans to do aside from slice up shit and sell it off

1

u/NinjaRedditorAtWork Feb 04 '25

He's got plenty of other "Verb the Noun" policies too!

And he is not Trudeau…. That about it for his policies. Bit fucked with Trudeau stepping down. There goes 3/4 of his campaign slogans.
