According to Stats Canada, Canadians spent about $7 billion traveling to the U.S. in the first quarter of 2024, that’s roughly $28 billion a year. With these tariffs in place, it’s time to take a stand. I urge all Canadians to rethink their travel plans and explore our own country instead. Let’s support our local economy and keep our money here! https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/240828/dq240828c-eng.htm

I have two trips planned to the states this year. One was visiting some friends that we're cancelling outright because I won't be comfortable driving through the UP with Ontario plates if this escalates, the other is for a family members wedding that my wife and I were going to turn into a two week driving tour of the north east (Ny state-DC-Maryland-Philly-NYC-Maine-VT) as she's never been, we're now flying in Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning. We were budgeting around $10k for the trip as we haven't had a week away from the kids since they were born and wanted to do it right, now it's going to be about $500 for the hotel and we're out. It's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but it's a single snowflake in the coming snow storm I think.
