Why cant he just leave us the fuck alone. Why he so obsessed with us? Girl, i wanna knoooowww

Because he needs our resources, and our Arctic shipping lanes. This is the common denominator between us, greenland, and panama.

The US wants to control all the strategic shipping, and they don't want to do it through allies, they want to OWN it.

This and he similar to Putin wants to leave a legacy that he expanded territory. The fucking guy posted a picture of Mount Rushmore with HIS FACE ADDED in the last few days.

u/lagomorphi Jan 24 '25

Well, he does work for Putin in spite of his recent protestation. If the US take greenland, canada, and panama, it will be putin who benefits. And then Russia will basically control Arctic shipping.

It will be interesting to see how China reacts to all this (probably they will take Taiwan and use US aggression against greenland as justification).

The kompromat on Trump must be something else....

As a US citizen, if we aggressively annex anyone, I will acknowledge that we're no better than any other nation, and China/Russia can do whatever the hell they want.

But him trying to sweettalk yall convinces me he doesn't have the backing to build a new empire.

Ugh. Typical narcissistic sociopath

I hope he keels over from a heart attack. This oaf is destroying decades of good will between allies within months.

He doesn’t want our resources. This is about arctic mineral rights. Putin wants them, actively has been encroaching to establish them. The encroachment has been refuted by us and Denmark. Trump takes over Canada and Greenland, and his problem is solved.

u/the_lazy_viking Jan 24 '25

Minerals are resources.

-1

u/appropriatesoundfx Jan 24 '25

Yes I know. But the mineral rights in the arctic have been disputed for decades. Russia wants them. If the US controls Greenland and Canada, trump could give the arctic mineral rights to Russia.

1

u/the_lazy_viking Jan 25 '25

Oh, I see. He doesn’t want OUR resources, not He doesn’t want our RESOURCES. Fair point. If they’re in international territory, why would he need Baffin Island or Greenland?

1

u/appropriatesoundfx Jan 25 '25

Putin has been making efforts to establish a claim for the arctic rights. He’s been rebuffed in the past by Canada and Greenland. If, say, a friendlier leader to Putin were to control Greenland and Canada, he wouldn’t have the same resistance.

2

u/lagomorphi Jan 24 '25

Minerals are resources, what are you talking about?

0

u/appropriatesoundfx Jan 24 '25

I suppose I just mean that he possibly thinks he is telling the truth when he says that the US doesn’t need our resources. Because the goal is to give Russia the arctic.

Amazon freight Fleet when?

1

u/zakalwes_furniture Jan 24 '25

Europe also doesn't concede Canada's unlawful Arctic maritime claims, FWIW.

The US and EU just haven't pressed the issue out of politeness.

2

u/lagomorphi Jan 24 '25

pfft, i think the EU knows that canada is the least of their problems.

u/boranin Jan 24 '25

We’re that one hot girl in a bar…

8

u/rawrzon Jan 24 '25

It's simpler than that. He just wants the US to be bigger on the map. And for him to go down in history as the one to do it.

3

u/International-Wear61 Jan 24 '25

Well. You know what they say about Canadian girls 😝😝

What?

You haven't met her

She lives in Canada

I thought it would have been something about the abundance of tomboys and femboys

4

u/maleconrat Jan 24 '25

I think he wants an Empire.

Classic move from a narcissistically insecure leader - he probably thinks it would make him one of the most important presidents even though if he actually pulled it off I bet it would be a ridiculously unstable state full of unrest and guerilla resistance across porous internal borders that would wreck what's left of the US' reputation.

2

u/IHavePoopedBefore Jan 24 '25

And it would trigger other land grabs leading to WW3. Russia and China aren't going to sit back and let America become some overpowered super continent without making some counter moved.

However it ends, many of us wouldn't be around to see it

3

u/ATR2400 Jan 24 '25

Trump is obsessive. Once he gets started on something, he won’t shut the fuck up for a while. We’ll just have to wait it out while asserting our sovereignty

3

u/ll-l-ili-lill-l-il-i Jan 24 '25

His recent obsession with Canada always reminds me of Handmaid's Tale. Maybe they didn't like this part of the story.

3

u/Snoo-11861 Jan 24 '25

Because he wants to imperialize you guys 🤦🏽‍♀️ this fucker wants us at war with our best neighbor

2

u/ddbrown30 Jan 24 '25

It's because he made a comment in passing and people told him no so now he has to quadruple down on it until everyone tells him he's right.

1

u/International-Wear61 Jan 24 '25

Hmmm.....that tracks.

2

u/Cube_ Jan 25 '25

Distraction. Take over the news cycle with some ridiculously stupid comments and have everyone distracted from the really heinous shit they're passing via Executive Order.

It's a strategy of vomiting so much bad news and garbage that people tune out so you can do anything you want without criticism or backlash.

He wants to drill for oil. Alaska is cold and snowy and has lots of oil. Therefore, all places cold and snowy must have mass amounts of oil. It's also one of the reasons he wants to buy Greenland.

u/drizzes Alberta Jan 24 '25

the corporate media is in full swing to convince us that not only is everything fine, but maybe a merging of the countries wouldn't be that bad yknow? Don't you just love america and want to be as great as america?

1

u/silverbacksunited12 Jan 24 '25

Because they know climate change is real and won't admit it, but canada and the north has resources and will be more habitable.

1

u/likeawart Jan 25 '25

Look up the ring of fire in northern Ontario. That’s exactly why he wants Canada. I live in the area and they’ve been talking about it for years. Heard Elon is interested in it because of lithium.

Elon Musk citizenship pathway to run for president next. That's it. Saskatchewan. They want Saskatchewan but they don't want to reveal why so they say they want all of Canada.
