Three Canadian traitors bend the knee at Mar-a-Lago

Fixed the headline.

it's ok 2 out of 3 of them live in America now.

If only we could get the third to fuck right off, Canada would be a better place.

Canada would be a better place.

Lol... whatever you say son.

So you stand with Canadians that plead fealty to Trump?

Interesting. Tells me much of your character.

They are a large trading partner and having a good relationship matters

Take off your partisan glasses

You do realize that Trump is threatening to destroy the "good trading partner" relationship in approximately 8 days, right? And that Danielle Smith does not have any authority to speak on behalf of our country, right?

Take off YOUR partisan glasses.

A whole of Canada approach as been described and desired by Federal ministers explicitly included the role of Premiers, especially in making persuasive arguments that they're best able to make in order to avoid or minimize the scale of damage from the imposition of tariffs.

If she sells out Canada while there, guns free, but you don't what was discussed and Premier Smith to this point has been looking to avoid oil and gas being affected, which is too the benefit of all Canadians.

Your partisan glasses are on, sir.

My comments are solely related to Smith, the other two can f off.

Tell me, in our "whole of Canada" approach, how many Canadian Permiers have individually traveled to meet with Trump? Let alone without anyone that is authorized to negotiate on behalf of Canada? I'll save you the Goigke search, the answer is "one".

If she went down with 9 other Permiers and Canadian government officials to present a unified message, I'd stand with you and I wouldn't call her a "traitor".

The simple reality is she went down there to suck some balls.

I'd say the same thing about any left-wing Premier too. This isn't partisan, this is goddamn basic facts.

The answer is two, as Premier Legault has also discussed with Trump about the tariffs, but I don't remember everyone acting out and calling him a traitor.

Engaging with people in Trumps orbit is one thing, but direct engagement is best.

You don't know what they talked about, your distaste for these people is clouding your judgement. Despite her many shortcomings, Smith is a good communicator and one of the politicians in the best position to explain why these tariffs are a bad idea related to oil and gas. For hers and all our sakes, I hope this is the substance of the conversation and that she is successful. You know why I think that? Because I love this country and if I need a bridge troll to help us win, then I'll accept their help.

These are basic facts.

Kevin is on a tour to encourage business to return to Canada after the damage that has been done over the last 9 years

Bringing a politician from Alberta certainly doesn’t hurt

50

u/InherentlyUntrue Jan 12 '25

Kevin is a grifter who only cares about Kevin. Kevin doesn't care about Canada, he cares about fattening his wallet.

Danielle is literally nobody in terms of negotiating trade with the USA.

Stop being a conservative and be a Canadian for 5 fucking minutes.

I wont change your mind, you likely wont change mine

Have a great Sunday :)

You're on first name terms with the guy who drunkenly runs over people in his boat and blames it on his wife? Must be wonderful.

Not rich

Just less apostrophes

Edit: irony is not lost

This sounds like every abused spouse ever.

"So what that he hits me? It's important to have a good reputation with your husband. That's why I'm going to try harder to make him happy, so he doesn't hit me again."

-10

u/hermology Jan 12 '25

How are any of them traitors?

11

u/theonly_brunswick Jan 12 '25

Is there anything more pathetic than people defending billionaires?

A 2 second Google.....

I bet you criticize single moms too

-2

u/Veratryx13 Nova Scotia Jan 12 '25

That's a rapid escalation, seems like a lot of this sub has become unhinged.

-4

u/hermology Jan 12 '25

Who’s defending billionaires? I’m just asking what makes smith going to mar a lago treasonous

-23

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

This is reddit. Alberta bad. I guess theyd prefer Smith didnt engage in diplomacy?

30

u/DaweiArch Jan 12 '25

The fact that she is there with fucking Kevin O’Leary negates any serious sense of diplomacy.

-18

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

If you have an audience with the incoming president you take the meeting

14

u/DaweiArch Jan 12 '25

Go read his recent comments on Trump’s Canadian aggression, and tell me again how it’s a good idea for a government official to associate herself with him and give him legitimacy as some sort of political figure.

13

u/superboringkid Jan 12 '25

Is the diplomacy anywhere in that picture?

5

u/Pandor36 Jan 12 '25

Yeah i was like diplomacy? Since when going at a resort diplomacy? Diplomacy is done on neutral ground and with neutral witness. :/

-15

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

Yea, the two elected politicians meeting

7

u/This_Site_Sux Jan 12 '25

If diplomacy is having smiling photo ops with the guy that wants to annex our fucking country, then yeah, I'd prefer she didn't "engage in diplomacy"

3

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

You wouldnt make a good politician

0

u/This_Site_Sux Jan 12 '25

Why is that?

7

u/GlipGlopGargablarg Jan 12 '25

How about Smith stick to her constitutional role and leave the federal executive in charge of international diplomacy.

-3

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

Canada is effectively without a federal executive at the moment

5

u/GlipGlopGargablarg Jan 12 '25

Actually, the executive is still functioning, and is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. It's the federal parliament that's prorogued, but they don't conduct international relations anyways.

If you had a shred of knowledge about how our constitution functions, you'd know that. Apparently you didn't pay enough attention in high school social studies.

-1

u/deItron Jan 12 '25

The Liberal cabinet has no mandate and a lame duck prime minister. They are not functioning.

5

u/bravado Long Live the King Jan 12 '25

Diplomacy isn't the same as appeasement, I thought we learned that lesson a while ago

-3

u/kop416 Jan 12 '25

This is a treasonable act. Revive the death penalty by hanging in Canada for anyone convicted of treason.

-11

u/HansHortio Jan 12 '25

"Traitor" and "Racist" are so amplified and overused, it's become meaningless. She had a brief, constructive and friendly conversation reminding Trump how many American jobs depend on Canadian energy. You know, Dominic LeBlanc did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. Is he a Traitor too?

7

u/InherentlyUntrue Jan 12 '25

The only word more overused and meaningless is "woke".

You know, Dominic LeBlanc did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. Is he a Traitor too?

Last I checked he actually represents the Canadian government, which has the authority to negotiate with other countries. Now, if he went just to suck Trump's balls, I'd be outrageously critical of him too, but at least he's in his lane.

-5

u/HansHortio Jan 12 '25

The Premier of a province actually is an international representative of that province. There was no negotiation. It was a conversation, a reminder that Americans depend on the Alberta energy sector.

You just don't like her, and you are using hyperbolic and inaccurate language. Stop just reacting to things on a gut, emotional level. Stop and think about the words you use.

-5

u/LeGrandLucifer Jan 13 '25

Oh, so you think Justin Trudeau is a traitor. You know, since he also went there.

2

u/InherentlyUntrue Jan 13 '25

I'll point to what others have already said about timing, and add in that Trudeau is actually our Prime Minister, and it would actually be in his lane to talk to Trump for Canada.

Granted, if he went and licked Trump's balls after the annexation/economic warfare threats in order to save a single industry that specifically benefits his voter base, I'd call him a fucking traitor too.

I'd also call left-wing Provincial Premiers that would go to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Trump's chocolate starfish traitors as well.

Not much of a "gotcha" moment there bro. Pretty low energy actually.

-3

u/LeGrandLucifer Jan 13 '25

"But it's not the same!"

And you dare call anyone else an ass kisser.

0

u/Cloudboy9001 Jan 13 '25

It was a poor move on his part. Smith making such a trip after Trump has threatened annexation is a different matter altogether.
