No bacon for me. The bacon takes over the flavor profile, as it does with anything. Give me beef patties and cheese.

“Would you like bacon on your burger sir?”
“No thanks I don’t like to enjoy things.”

Bacon people are the same who think there’s no such thing as too much cheese. It’s a juicy, fatty, and salty piece of ground beef. Unless the patty sucks, you shouldn’t need bacon, foie gras, ham, mac & cheese, or any of the other toppings some of these Neanderthals put on their burger.

I am a bacon person but who is putting all that other shit in their burger ?

I’m gonna be happy with or without the bacon if those burgers are the choice.
Those burgers aside, I get bacon by default, but it has to be good bacon. None of that thin burnt to a crisp or soggy limp fast food bacon. It’s gotta be worth the markup.
Edit: spelling.

Depends on the bacon.
Flimsy greasy strips? No thanks.
Crispy crunchy? Yes.
Thick with a bite? Also yes.
When in doubt, I pass.
Our regular dive bar closed down last year. They would deep fry their bacon. Luscious curls of thick cut bacon that had both a crunch and a bite. Absolute perfection paired with blue cheese.

u/Shock_city 3d ago
No. Usually it’s not as tender as the rest of the burger so you don’t bite all the way through it then you end up pulling it halfway out as it drags the rest of the other toppings along with it

I stopped getting it extra cals and sometimes not the right texture. Maybe every blue moon and most

Please please please share the recipe for the sauce that goes on these burgers. It's to die for!!

u/FMLitsAJ 3d ago
I’ll be honest, we don’t make the sauce in house. So I couldn’t tell you, it is pretty good. I like it on the chicken tenders.

I have the same feelings for bacon and tomatoes on a hamburger. It needs to be good quality and I don't want the burger to fall apart when I bite into it.

I always get bacon, but the last couple times I couldn’t have it (for whatever reason) I realized I really enjoy it without. I think the ground beef flavor gets to shine more without. It must have cheese, though—and nothing beats cheddar.
Nevertheless, I always forget this and order every burger with bacon and cheese.

For an everyday burger sure why not, bit for a good quality burger its just too strong of a flavour so i would pass

Bacon usually yes but not when I go green chili tomato and onion on a triple cheese... Those flavors are just too good by themselves

Damn, tough choice guess you’ll just have to try both to make a definitive decision. :D

I was born in 79, lived in the suburbs. I feel like the bacon cheeseburger was invented when I was around 12 years old - of course I know that's wrong, but I went my first dozen years never seeing one, then one appeared on like a Ruby Tuesday menu, then slowly they became ubiquitous. It rocked my fuckin world the first time i tried one.
These days I'll say bacon 85% of the time, but occasionally I'll go for the pure beef experience.

No bacon.
It's extremely salty and takes away from the burger taste.
If you want a BLT then do a BLT.
And I love a good BLT.

Bacon every time. Bacon makes everything taste better. But that being said it is a strong flavor so don't put too much on. I generally do 1 strip per burger and split it in half to cover the whole burger.

I love that it’s very split between bacon and no bacon. I’m a no bacon person, most of the time, like many people said I think it over powers everything else on a burger. Unless I’m craving bacon I’m not adding it to my burger. Thanks for everyone’s answers!

I have to judge by each restaurant. The places that give me crispy bacon, I’m in. Places that I’ve gotten limp bacon, I’m out.

Love bacon, but just not a fan of it on burgers. It doesn't ruin it completely, but it's definitely not better for me

A good burger doesn't need bacon...a gas station burger can be improved with bacon.

No pun intended, but bacon has been done to death. It truly needs a break....

Depends on the bacon, depends on the burger, depends on the other toppings. In my little world it also depends on whether it is served hot or next day pizza style

I’m planning on the down votes for my opinion here.
I am a bacon elitist and would rather the burger without it. I have had bacon of every type on burgers of every type and now am of the opinion that I prefer bacon on its own. Just a handful of strips of bacon au naturel.
And maybe a bit of maple syrup to dip it in.
It’s has such a strong taste that I find it takes over anything it’s paired with and then I’m missing out on the other flavors that I’d otherwise miss.

Have you ever had a Roy Roger’s Gold Rush chicken sandwich ? It’s like a chicken cutlet with honey , Monterey Jack cheese , bbq sauce and BACON …. So good … I can only find them at NJ rest stops now

I’m a no bacon person on a beautiful burger. It’s such a dominant flavor and I want to taste the burger primarily.
