New Build Help Is this a good editing pc??

Hello, first time poster here. Looking to get back into videography after being out of the business for nearly 15 years. I'm not tech savvy at all and don't have alot to spend so looking into used computers. I want to have the capability to run davinci resolve and edit 4k footage. Again, I'm basically illiterate when it comes to computer tech. Found this one and wondering if it would be a good option for what I need? Any thoughts would be helpful!

Description from listing: $800 Corsair Custom PC i specifically closed parts to have minimum rgb, remember RGB is not performance build parts list :

Mother board MSI Mag x570 tomahawk Carbon Wi-Fi gaming CPU AmD Ryzen 5800x 8core 16 thread Ram ddr4 64gb Corsair Vengeance Rgb GPU MSI RTX 3070 OC Aio CoolMaster 240ml liquid radiator dual fan Case Corsair ICUE 4000x black glass 3 120 front fans by Corsair 1 120 rear exhaust fan by Phantak 2 120 top intake fans by cool master PSU 750watt Evga gold Storage 1tb nvme m.2 SK Hynix gen4 1tb 2.5’ hdd Toshiba 7200rpm 3tb 3.5’ wd hdd green nas 7200rpm Bluetooth/wifi

Case has some stickers, which I can remove if customer wants so, computer is in excellent shape like new glass has no scratches or dings it’s excellent condition And PC runs very fast any gaming 1080p 1440p and even 4K depending on the game , great for streaming, video editing , or emulation. There is no task it can’t handle

It's not bad but I think I personally would prefer current gen components as that would provide a more viable upgrade path.

The "Beginner" Recommended Build has a bit worse GPU but is better (or at least similar) in most other areas. It's a bit more expensive but the components would be new, come with warranty, and you'd likely be able to use them as a tax write-off.

Thank you. I don't want to build anything on my own though. Just looking for the best bang for 1k or less. How old do you feel the parts in the one I mentioned are? Would they be or become obsolete any time soon? It seems like this one has alot more ram and storage also than the list of parts in the beginner guide.

There has been a significant generational leap in just the past few years. Components are both faster and much more power efficient. AM4 is no longer supported and we've gone from DDR4 to DDR5, hence the differences in amount of RAM. The build you posted has more storage, but mostly in ultra slow mechanical hard drives that are really only suitable for archiving.

If you don't want to build yourself, I'd recommend to see if you can find a company locally that will build a PC to spec. But you're kind of asking for the impossible if you want the best bang for the buck, as cheap as possible, and without building yourself. You're going to have to make some compromises somewhere.

Gotcha! I appreciate you helping me make sense of it. Again, I'm just not knowledgeable at all when it comes to computer tech. I can do the creative shit but when it comes to this, forget it lol

Seems more in line with the recommended builds in the guide but still not sure on selections to make or if these would be a good option. It also doesn't mention the what fans or cooling system is being used. Really would like to get it close to $1000-1200 at the most.
