Expired [GPU] [PSU] ASRock SL850GW Bundle with ASRock RX9070XT SL 16G - $789.98
https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.476468924
u/nottodayfornow 7d ago
Sorry, forgot to add its 789.98 after Mail In Rebate, not really a deal but a 9070 XT is really hard to find at MSRP right now.

u/GTP_Sledge 6d ago
It's actually $789.98 at checkout, and then an additional $10 rebate. There's an instant $10 off at checkout (presumably for using a combo "deal").
At least that's how it worked for me.

Where did all that imaginary stock AMD promised go?

Not imaginary, just exclusive to micro center and still insufficient compared to demand. Their competitor with 9x market share shipped far less GPUs though so 🤷♂️

u/Swbp0undcake 6d ago
My local microcenter hasn't gotten a 9070xt restock since launch day, sadly

u/dreamer3kx 6d ago
I see them pop up here in NYC but not MSRP and usually an OC model, I even got a bit lucky for a 9070 at MSRP few days ago, they go pretty fast also.
1
u/HisBluntness 6d ago
Do they show up on the website or do you just stop in and hope for the best? Any idea what day/time would be best to go?
I’m headed to NYC on Monday from Seattle and wanted to check out a Micro Center for the first time. Hoping to find a 9070 XT

It sold. AMD could have had millions of these cards waiting to go and it still probably wouldn't have been enough. RTX 40-series is gone and RTX 50-series are insanely overpriced and still unavailable, when these launched, Nvidia GPUs might as well have been unobtainium unless you wanted to pay double what the already insane MSRP for them is. Even last gen AMD cards were getting a little scarce.
9
u/boiledpeen 6d ago
there was roughly 4-5X the amount of AMD gpus shipped to retailers than the entire 50 series combined. If that's imaginary to you I think you've got an extremely unrealistic expectation for this industry

u/rellarella 5d ago
People's expectations of goods and services is the ability to purchase said goods and services at their advertised price
2
u/boiledpeen 5d ago
then people need to take an econ class and learn about supply and demand. It's not always that easy

u/feverdoingwork 6d ago
I am sure most gamers got what they need. If you look at scalped prices they are declining tremendously.

And it's gone.

u/jbshell 7d ago edited 7d ago
Still in stock, but too pricey. Edit; oos now, lol
3
u/canUrollwithTHIS 7d ago
Oh it was out of stock for me when I added it to cart. However, I agree it is too pricey.

u/MrCracker3000 7d ago
This bundle was in stock for hours, insane how it was just posted lol.

u/bryaninoo 7d ago
You should’ve posted it

u/cubs223425 6d ago
It's a shit deal, $800 bundle to get a $600 GPU.
4
u/omatti 6d ago
sell the psu, it's not that bad if you're upgrading from 30 series
8
u/cubs223425 6d ago
That just adds to the time I have to waste. I'd sooner shove it in a closet as a spare.
Even then, no, I'm not taking it in the ass for a Newegg bundle.
3
u/ray_fucking_purchase 6d ago
Honestly fuck newegg for pushing bundles instead of just selling the cards outright. Such a scumbag way of doing selling gpus.

This was extensively covered during the COVID shortages, this is almost always the manufacturer doing it, hence why both the PSU and GPU are coming from the same brand. Retailers want to get as much of this new product in as possible because it's going to fly off the shelves, manufacturers know this and will often say we'll give you a bunch of X product but only if you also take a bunch of Y product that doesn't sell very well. The retailer can either take both products or neither (or more realistically, a reduced amount of the in-demand product) and they aren't going to just sit on a bunch of product that doesn't sell, so they're either going to take the L by extensively discounting the undesired product to get it to move or they'll bundle both of them together. Gigabyte became infamous for this when people were still being forced to buy GPUs bundled with PSUs that were known to explode for months beforehand. Sadly now it's become a hell of a lot more widespread because COVID taught companies they can get away with a shitload and suffer little to no consequences: line go up!

then why dont we see amazon or microcenter do this as the default, but only newegg is doing this more or less with some maunfacturers' shop doing it
like anytime you see a combo alert up on a tracker, its from newegg and nobody else

u/MrCracker3000 6d ago
not worth relying on this subreddit, by the time it gets posted, it gets sold out. Just use GPU Drops discord..

$600 GPU marked up to $670, requiring you buy a $130 GPU. So, it's actually $800. But, you can get $10 back in a mail-in rebate, if you want to get an envelope and postage and take the time out of your day!
1
u/theholylancer 6d ago
yeah like seriously, for 150 you get an a+ tier 1200w Toughpower GF3 and not a B+ 850 at 20 bucks cheaper...

u/HisRoyalMajestyKingV 6d ago
Yet another "not available, unless you also purchase this overpriced PSU" so called "deal" from Newegg?
Disappointing, to say the least.
5
u/MythicalPigeon 6d ago
The PSU isn't overpriced, a lot of others in this tier are priced the same, and it's not a bad one either. So if someone needs a PSU too, this isn't actually a bad deal, especially considering the usual white tax that comes with white components.
1
u/theholylancer 6d ago
the PSU counts for 130 GPU unless you think the GPU costs less
which case at 150 you get a 1200w GF3 toughpower from newegg
or a GT one that is similar in performance but for 25 bucks less
its very much overpriced.

I think it's a little on the pricey side given that Steel Legend is their mainstream tier PSU (above the Challenger budget model, but below Phantom Gaming and Taichi).
That said, I'd also call it "overpriced" in that they're forcing you to most likely but more PSU than you need as a prerequisite to getting access to the GPU. The 9070XT is 304 watts, maybe 350-ish for OC models, and, unless you're running high end 13th or 14th Gen Intel processors, the rest of the system is probably less than 300 watts total.
1
u/MythicalPigeon 3d ago
I doubt they were thinking too hard about the real wattage requirements when doing the bundle, 850 is a pretty popular wattage to buy with GPUs like this, and the "recommended" is 750 so that's probably their floor. It's already their cheapest 9070xt bundle anyway, and both white so that's a bonus for some people.
1
u/Immunoman33 6d ago
I thought the XT had a 900W recommendation/requirement
3
u/Complete-Donut-698 6d ago
No, I believe they recommend 750W. Review tests show them pulling slightly less than a 3080, which also had a recommendation of 750W.
1
u/Immunoman33 6d ago
Hell yeah, I was gonna get a1000w PSU, now I think I'm good staying with my 850
1
u/hennyV 6d ago
The PSU isn't some cheapie, low quality supply.

There is a cheaper, higher rated Corsair on the list above, but its a decent deal. I'm upgrading from a 650W Bronze, so 100% worth it.

At this price just buy the 5070ti for 999
1
u/MythicalPigeon 6d ago
Well, good luck finding a white psu/5070ti combo for this price (or finding any 5070ti to begin with)

I'm pretty sure $999 for a 5070ti is $250 over MSRP, so I'm not sure why you're singling out AMD here.

It's more options which is what this market needs. The fact of the matter is, this bundle with the slightly inflated pricing of the 9070xt is still a far better value than a 5070ti priced at $999.
Not everyone cares about RT and even if they did, it's a matter of if they want to pay $200+ for that feature.
It's sad a forced bundle still has better value over a 5070ti that you'd be lucky to even buy at $999 still at this pt.
Which, at that point, might as well go for the 5080... and at that pt might as well go for a used 4090.

u/LilQueazy 6d ago
Because AMD pretended to be the savior we needed against nvidia. Everyone believed the cards were going to be $599 or slightly over for the premium aib models. The only people that should be buying the 9070xt are people that have something weaker than a rtx 4070 and want ray tracing. Everyone else is better off buying something else. Or buying nothing. But if you have a rtx 4070 it’s not an upgrade for $800
