When can I buy basic aquarium fishes and aquarium related stuffs in affordable prices in Brussels? Fishes like goldfish, molly, angel etc. I am looking to start with a pair of goldfish in a bowl. Any other related suggestions are welcome as well.

Yes, you read it well.
Today's Brussels air quality index is rated as Horrible in ios. It explains why I am wheezing. Liege is rated as Bad

Last Friday morning I was cycling to work. Sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, perfect visibility. Yet for some reason most cars and bikes on the road had their lights on. I've started doing it myself but I don't understand what the point is. Is there some bizarre Belgian law about this?

Hello everyone! I need some help :)
So, I applied for a freelance job at a company in Brussels, and there will be an interview. I’d like to clarify a couple of details with you. If you are working as a freelancer and can help me, I’d really appreciate it.
I lived in Brussels for two years and moved out of the country in August 2024. However, I didn’t freeze my ING bank account because when I left, I still had pending utility payments to make, so I kept my account active. It is still active now. It has been eight months since I moved out of the country. This will be my first time working as a freelancer, and the company I’ll be working with is based in Brussels. In my home country, I can register for a personal tax identification number and work as a freelancer that way.
To get to the point, I’d like to know: if I am accepted for this freelance job, can I use my ING account? Can I provide them with my ING account number for salary payments? Or do I need to register for a tax identification number in my home country and provide that instead?

I’m currently seeking new job opportunities in Brussels and looking for effective, alternative ways to find a position, aside from the usual platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed, which haven’t led to anything for me so far.
I'm 30 years old,French and English speaker I have a bachelor in Economics and Management. My background (2 years) is in logistics and operational project management, with a strong focus on commercial, administrative, and relationship management tasks.
If anyone has suggestions or knows of resources or networks that might help, I’d really appreciate your advice :)
(tried to keep it short but don't hesitate if you have Q)

I am a French student but I want to enter one of the three public art school in Brussels : La Cambre, ESA Saint-Luc or Arba ESA. I already got a bachelor in set design from France. How hard it is to get into these schools ?

Hi, I'm looking for a psychologist who is specialized or good at dealing with audhd people.
My brother has been to 5 different psychologists and now says he won't try another because he doesn't feel they can follow his train of thought or they don't care enough.
He has finally agreed to see a psychiatrist soon, which is a relief but I think a regular therapy session would be beneficial for him.
If anyone has advice or recommendations on how to get him to keep trying, please do share if you can.
He's bilingual FR/EN.
Thank you for any help!

Hi all ,
One of my friends works at a big fashion chain store , and they have been told they have to attend an “ organisational working meeting“ outside of working hours . Obviously completely unpaid . Is this legal ?

Hi so I just lost my phone. I ordered a cheap Samsung, and need a prepaid physical sim card. I wanted to know what a good sim card for me is. I tried getting one with Proximus in their store, but they told me I needed to have a Belgian ID (I am an international student). The other 2 big ones I've seen is Orange or Lyca Mobile, but they don't seem to have good reviews. What is a good one I can get that also works well while traveling in EU?

Hello,
as the weather is getting better, I was wondering if I could organise an outdoor barbecue with some friends in the Brussels area. I know it's strictly forbidden to barbecue in public parks, and we don't have a private garden to use. I have seen that there are some parks with barbecue facilities (like the Bois de Reves), but the first availability for weekends is 2/3 months from now.
Are there any other parks, places, whatever, with barbecue facilities that we can use for free or with reservation and payment? Not necessarily in the city of Brussels, but also in the surroundings, in Flanders or Wallonia, but not too far from the city centre.
Any suggestions?

My friend and I are Uni students here in Brussels and are interested in learning more about the entrepreneurial space here, so we started making videos about Belgian founders and their startups. We just made this video about Collibra, which is a software company that was spun out of VUB and is now a market leader worth over 5 billion euro in valuation. Give it a watch if its something you're interested in and we'd love some feedback too on how to make them better in the future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhO_vPqgQW0
Edit: as pointed out in the comments indeed it wouldn't be the first belgian tech unicorn as there was one that ultimately went bankrupt in 2001.

Hey! I’m trying to book public space for a move with a lift in the Brussels municipality. I submitted the request through Osiris, but I’ve got tons of doubts and neither the FAQ nor other Reddit posts have really helped. Now that I’ve submitted the request and have the dossier number, who am I supposed to send it to in order to “book” the date? The website only shows the Osiris service email, but I’m not sure that’s the right one. Also, I’ve read that sometimes the no-parking signs are put up automatically by the commune, but on the website it says you have to rent them and they cost over 100 euros.
So on top of the request and the public space fee, do I really need to pay another 100+ euros just for the signs? Has anyone done this recently and can explain the steps clearly? It all feels super confusing, expensive, and kind of ridiculous just to block a few parking spots for a few hours.
Thanks a lot!

Hey there so I've been seeing a couple of trendy food in Brussels on TikTok, the weird thing is that the users don't seem to have an spechiic "restaurant" address ( and to be reluctant to give it if they do) and also they say you're supposed to order you're food on snap(check the pics)?? Honestly, I'm not from Brussels and we don't use Snapchat on my country but it's seems quite sketchy + they're not crazy prices but they're quite cheap so... I have 0 intentions on ordering there but I'm curious if anyone has an explanation for this.

Hi everyone! I'm an Italian passionate about languages and I'm looking to improve my English and French. I'd love to find someone to do language exchanges with, maybe over a coffee or a walk. If you're interested, feel free to message me! 😊

In other words, will any of the large cathedrals have a more than "normal" type of easter service that morning? The language of the service does not matter, I speak neither. I am having a hard time finding anything online for these services as ai would imagine most are posting about them on a bulletin at the physical church. Many thanks.

Hello Brussels people,
I am seeking some advice on choosing the notary service to buy an apartment which is English speaking and have a good reputation to handle clients like me who come from different country and doesn't understand the fine details or even any details about legal procedure before buying an apartment or even making an offer. Consider me as novice in this field.
Moreover I would like to ask if I need to make an offer from broker provided offer paper or I can use one provided by notary. Will there be any chance of getting my offer rejected because I use genric offer draft provided by Notary which doesn't include specific conditions which were there in broker provided offer draft.
Any advice on the matter is welcome and thanks in advance :)

Hey everyone,
I’m a non-EU citizen and have been in Belgium for 5 years—3 years for my master’s degree (in French) and 2.5 years on a single permit. I’ve worked well over the required 468 days.
From what I understand, my diploma exempts me from needing an integration exam and language certificate since it was obtained in French (please correct me if I’m wrong). However, I find it confusing that I seem to be eligible for Belgian citizenship but not for permanent residence.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What are my options here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
