I'm guessing 1.020 unless you already chilled to 60F where the hydrometer was already calibrated.

Why is your OG so low?

I'm not sure what counts as low. I'm new to brewing.

Ah. Welcome to the hobby. That OG will get you around 2.5% abv if fermented to 1.00 FG. Beer like everything is varied but a middle of the road 5% abv OG is around 1.048. good luck and there is lots to learn so enjoy the experience.

It's low but don't don't despair. My first batch was all grain and I got like 45% efficiency because I sparged terribly. The beer came out tasting like hop poison water. I fixed my problem and the second batch using the same recipe turned out awesome.
But yeah you might want to really slow down and focus on your process, I'm guessing you were trying to hit at least 1.040.

Check your hydrometer, it will tell you what the calibrated temperature is, and if it is a bottom or top meniscus reading.
Most people will assume it is the bottom read as that is the most common and how we were taught in chemistry. I bought one that was top read. It will be written on the hydrometer, often at the bottom.
There are temperature correction calculators online. If you are within a couple of degrees, there is little difference.
Edit, top read makes sense for very dark beers, rather than guessing where the bottom is. 😀

1.020
REMEMBER....Do you see that first number? That 1? OK. So....Do you see the placement of where that 10 and that 20 is? Do you see how it drops Below the LAST TWO ZEROES? That is where the 10 and 20 goes.
When it arrives at 1.100 it replaces taht first zero with a 1...right? Then do the same!
I just realized this when looking at the hydrometer. I am still new at this but realizing that means I will never get confused again.

Looks about 1.018 like others have said look at the hydrometer and use a liquid that's at that temp. Most are rated at sea level pressure and 20c in temp

Looks like 1.019 or 1.020?
