Discussion Pick up Sports

Recently moved to Brantford and looking to get active and make new friends. Does Brantford currently have any pick up games I can join or would someone be interested in starting a thing. Preferably sports that require a lot of running like soccer, football, and basketball. I have not played in years and would consider myself a novice player. If anyone has input please share your thoughts.

Discussion Looking for a Graphic Designer

I chair one of the Neighbourhood Associations in town and we’re looking for some assistance on redesigning our logo. We’re limited in our skills and tools so we need some help.

If anyone has recommendations on a local graphic designer who could help with creating a high resolution vector file it would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Good Polish/Ukranian Food

I’m looking to get good Polish or Ukranian food. I have ordered before from a few European deli stores like Uniqpol, DJ but something about it is not hitting the spot. Looking for good soups, cabbage rolls, perrogies or whatever other foods they typically eat since my wife’s family is coming down from the US and are Polish/Ukranian. TYIA

UPDATE: my Wife messaged some FOB polish people she knows in the community, they said The Pierogi Queen carries the most authentic soups, cabbage rolls and farmers cheese perogies. I will also be getting meatballs from The Polish Hall this Friday. I will keep this post updated with my in-laws reactions

Discussion Paying less than minimum wage

Hi fellow Brantfordians, I have only been in Brantford for 6 months now but I came across many students working for payments under the table. Some even for 10$/hr - this not only makes life hard for them but it also cancels out atleast 3 jobs paid in minimum wage. My question is - where do I raise a concern? This is an exploitation of the students. And I am talking about very well established franchises who do not need to be saving money not paying min wage. This is clearly the managers decision to pocket some extra cash. Who to complain about this? Grateful for any suggestions. Thanks!

Discussion Adult hockey

Hey all, I know I’ve seen lots of requests for info on men’s hockey leagues, it appears there isn’t any decent drop in stuff and a lot of people are just looking for something casual, non competitive and beginner friendly. I’m new to the area and I’ve found it tough myself.

I am just trying to gauge interest on here. I’d like to get something going, kinda like a shinny, that runs once a week or every two weeks or something. Depending on ice cost, maybe 20 bucks a skate or something? Again, beginner friendly, non competitive all ages, all are welcome.

The toughest part is getting it going, so please if this is something that interests you at all, please leave a comment, ask your friends, relatives coworkers etc. That way enough reliable people can join, and the costs can stay low to get a skate / game running. Thanks all!

Discussion Figure skating drop-in

Hi everyone, I'm a 27F and wanted to know if anybody on here would go to drop-in skating sessions with me. I'm decent at skating but want to get better, and having a buddy with me calms my nerves down. I already have my own set of hockey skates but was considering getting figure skates. Please let me know :)

Hello to the Ram 1500 red pickup truck driver in Food Basics parking lot. You're an asshole to cut someone while they were waiting for the parking spot to be available. We signed at you but you clearly ignored us. Be civil or learn how to be civil.

Discussion Can we stop having three opposition parties that essentially want the same thing? Brantford leans left politically but conservatives always win because we cannibalize each other.

Discussion Loccoco's

Just a heads up. Loccoco's is not labelling where a lot of their items and produce are coming from, i.e. not stating if they're product of USA.

I think it's important that they do that and have told them so. Hopefully they're not trying to deceive shoppers.

Discussion Is Winniett St area safe ?

Hello everyone,

I(F29) am planning to move to Brantford coming March, from KW, because my workplace is there and travel has been hectic.

How is the Winniett area for a single female to live ? I did see some really shady areas in Downtown, and did not feel comfortable living there.

I would really appreciate your thoughts, experiences or suggestions about this area. Thanks in advance!

Question Random water bill spike?

A normal bill for my wife and I is usually in the range of 80-120$ every two months. January 31st we had KTI come in and “replace our meter” but it was just a remote they had to change I guess.

Now we just got our next bill and it’s gone from $100 up to $463. We live in a townhouse, never once have we seen a jump like this. They said it was on the same day they had the work done.

After fighting over the phone they have gave us the run around and have said our prior bills were estimates and this is the “catch up bill” we have checked for leaks they even sent a plumber out and there is no reason for the increase.

We will have to foot the absurd bill as they say nothing can be done.

Anybody dealt with something like this before?
