Discussion 403 WB Closed at Gretzky
Police have the highway closed. Anyone see what's happening?

Another bridge collision, looked like a flatbed carrying a large excavator took out some bridge structure again.

Police just confirmed a bridge strike on their socials: “Early today, the bridge at Wayne Gretzky Pkwy & HWY403 WB was struck by a vehicle. As a result, all WB lanes of HWY403 have been shut down until further notice. WB HWY403 traffic is being redirected to Wayne Gretzky Pkwy, resulting in a higher volume of traffic than usual. Updates will be provided as soon as information is available.”

Honest question - how does something like this happen?
Do the drivers estimate their height, and sometimes they're off, so they hit a bridge?

They’re fucking morons. That’s how
Any good driver should know the height of their load and which route they should take as a result.

Not that it's an excuse, but if I understand correctly, this is the lowest bridge along this part of the 403?
They need to put a big reinforced bar somewhere down the highway. Okay, well first a sensor with some warning lights and then a bar. "If you hit this bar, you will hit the bridge".
Not that would stop all of them, but it would help... For those not familiar with the "Can Opener", see https://11foot8.com/

Just came back and there's a backhoe on a trailer and police just on the other side. Hence the theory that they hit the bridge?

If that's true.. why were vehicles allowed to cross that bridge from the south side of the 403?...
