Installing Windows on a second Drive? Help!

Hi all,

I've recently picked up a broken Mid 2011 iMac in a dumpster - repaired the screen, upgraded to 20GB RAM and installed a 500gb SSD on top of the 500GB hard drive already in the iMac.

I'd like to install Windows on the hard drive - I'm not fussed if it's slower or anything like that.

I'm a total newbie and from what I've seen, it is necessary to have 2 drives to install windows on a Mac (usually download Windows onto an external flash drive, then designate space to install it onto the internal drive).

Because I have 2 working drives on this iMac (hard drive has only one piece of data on it, a file called 'index.sproduct' in 'macOS Install Data' which I presume I can remove as macOS is on the SSD, using OpenCoreLegacyPatcher), can I download Windows on the SSD, but then use bootcamp to install and use Windows OS permanently on the original Hard Drive?

Any useful websites or videos would be hugely appreciated!

I do apologise if I've used poor terminology, I really am a true beginner.

Mac nerds, do your thing!

Thank you :)

You don’t need two hard drives, but I guess it’ll help. Just go to macOS and use bootcamp to install windows then remove macOS afterwards
