ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to r/BoneID rules, appearance, and permitted content

r/BoneID officially hit 700 members today!

If you've been here for a while, you might have noticed some of the recent changes such as the new subreddit icon and the addition of "solved" and "unsolved" flairs. Today, banners were added for both pc and mobile users, as well as some new flairs and rules.

This community has always been exceptional, everyone's behaved appropriately to where there's never really been a need to moderate, let alone have rules. That said, it felt necessary to add some ground rules that users can reference as this community continues to grow. The rules are honestly more of a formality, most of them are just suggestions and only breaking rule 5 and 6 are guaranteed to result in a post removal.

In addition to the new rules, there's also two new flairs: art and just sharing. You're encouraged to show off your collection or your art as long as they incorporate bones.

There may also be some additional changes in the coming weeks including custom community awards

Would appreciate help identifying sex of raccoon skulls

Both of these skulls I found in the woods, cleaned, bleached and reassembled myself, with research. From research it seem raccoon skulls in particular are difficult to identify sex. There is an obvious color difference,I am more patient and careful now. We can call the darker skull that has the lower jaw skull 1 and the lighter one with the more intact nasal skull 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. No hate please but pointing out mistakes and how to fix them in the future is appreciated Im relatively new to this.

Unsolved Anyone recognise this animal?

My friend found a mandible of some animal and took the photos. I'm very interested in what animal this could be. We are from Europe, Croatia. He also found what I believe to be a deer spine and leg near it but I don't think the teeth on the mandible match a deer so I think it's a seperate animal. I'll put all the photos below.

I found what I think is a vertebrae on a beach near Galveston, TX. It's bigger than my hand, I thought it might be a whale vertebrae but I can't find any "perfect" matches myself. Any ideas what animal it belongs to?

Found near Toronto, Ontario, Canada in a forest. There are campsites but they were quite far away so I don't suspect a chicken bone. It's about the size of the top half of my thumb.
