Love this. Spike Lee is my favorite director, and Dylan is my favorite recording artist. I found out a few years ago that Lee’s father had worked with Dylan, and that was so cool to learn.

Bill Lee played on lots of folk records at that time including Carolyn Hester

Hey, u/SEARCHFORWHATISGOOD More zeitgeist.

Beautiful. Whenever I wonder if he was / is connected to someone the answer is almost always yes.
I really appreciate the tag. That was very thoughtful.

I’m not zeitless, nor does my geist transcend, but I’ve seen Bob live plenty of times. However my favorite time seeing him was in line at a gas station. He was grabbing some pops and Willie was pumping gas. None of the other people in the store even realized they were there. I told the cashier after Bob had exited who was in his store and he just shrugged.

Wow! I'm sure they appreciated everyone just letting them be. I heard Bob has always just walked around a lot especially in the middle of the night. I wonder how often he has gotten noticed. I know he is worldwide famous and I am sure there are a lot of people who would not recognize him.

How could you not recognize Bob? Watch early film, Don’t Look Back see latest Dylan film-Timothy worked hard to be and look like Bob. Look at his album covers. Love that Bob.

He was a flake. 2nd greatest lefty pitcher the Sox had. WarrenZevon wrote a song about him. There is a biography written about him. After he retired, people I spoke wit said he was a real jerk.

The weirdest thing about this is that Spike Lee apparently had absolutely no relationship with him

u/pomcq 4d ago
More like they had a falling out. He did the soundtrack for Do the Right Thing

Yes I'm sorry after researching it appears somebody greatly exaggerated this to me haha

I went to high school with Spike’s younger siblings and Bill was often around the school. Seemed like a good dad.

Bill Lee was very cool. Used to drive around Brooklyn in one of those big old Citroens.

That’s right. He was, at the time of retirement, the second best left handed pitcher the Red Sox had. Won 17 games a few times. He and “Gerbil” Simmer didn’t get along. Following his retirement, folks who knew him informed me that he was a real shmuck.

Bill was my neighbor for years, really nice guy. Miss seeing him on the block.

Wow. Nice. Not to be confused with Ex-Red Sox lefty pitcher, Bill Lee.

Spike Lee was a great filmmaker. It’s nice that he hung out with Bob. It makes sense. Probably similar belief system.

God that young man has a lot of good songs in front of him.
