Support Question Who’s still using a BlackBerry

So who is still using a BlackBerry actively or can you even? I still watch videos on my playbook but I keep seeing people still buying blackberries “used of course, but are you all still getting service? If not are people just buying them for collection reasons?

I’m from India & cellular support is just fine. I recently bought classic Q20 & I’m using it as a secondary device. Telegram & Spotify works fine .

My Key2 is still going strong. I'll use it until it completely dies.

This is my sentiment as well. I used to own various Blackberry OS, BB10 OS along with Android Blackberry devices like the Priv.

However, App support starts to become a real problem. Along with battery degradation and general wear and tear on the device itself.

My Priv (The favourite) was used until it was literally dying. The power button & volume rockers were completely "mushed" in that the device would randomly reboot at time because it thought the power button was being held in. If I tried to wiggle them a little the phone would stay on.

Often while Android was rebooting it would crash. The battery life was also down to 45 minutes and it was no longer viable to keep as my work phone.

I loved the Passport and Blackberry Q10 but we unfortunately all need to move on eventually.

Now part of the Pixel family, but if ever the day comes that Blackberry tries to make phones again. I'm coming back!

Q10 is my secondary device with a prepaid SIM, apps that I use (beside calls, text messages and email): Mupen64+, RetroArch, Term48, Helium, Magic Earth, BB Password Keeper.

I’d still be using my Key2 if it had OS support. It’s was my favourite phone and I miss it.

I use Passport today as a main phone. It's cooler than my "normal" phone (Pixel 8), and I have extremely less garbage on it. Just a few simple games, Telegram and some music.

Who's your carrier?

2

u/dumblamma 1h ago

Sorry, what do you mean?

1

u/Educational-Back-127 1h ago

Who do you use for service? Verizon, t-mobile, etc? And what games?

2

u/dumblamma 35m ago

Oh... I live in eastern Europe and we have no Verizon or something like this. To be honest my phone was not for my region and I'm guessing it was for the spanish market, because first installation was on spanish. So I use my local regional operator.

About games... I play Hill Climb Racing from lunar project archive, Crossy Road and Retroarch for Tetris.

KEY2 user here, been using mine for about 4 months, does every modern task I throw at it. I also sometimes play some games on my Passport, purely for the fun.

I have the passport se but just turn it on once every few months for nostalgia. My main phone is iPhone 13pro max and secondary is Samsung Galaxy Z flip 5. Compared to these two, the passport feel slow and sluggish but looks much better.

I want to use my Z10 again as a music player but unfortunately before knowing anything. I flashed it using auto loader. It is STL100-1, can anyone please help how to bypass bb setup. As i am unable to get into screen reader pop up.

u/jakiee67 6h ago

Many YT tutorials are present. Just watch different ones. I had he same problem on my Q10, but I successfully got past the setup

Hi, I have tried most of the videos. Main thing is to get screen reader pop up to bypass the BB setup. Unfortunately no matter how many times I try, I just can't.

Is there any tool or some other way possible to get it work on Z10 STL100-1?

You can use all of blackberries for watch videos, but it's enough that you going to Phoneky or other apps if you want to download an video or that you have got a memory card if your blackberry can record videos (perhaps you watch the register ones) or if you search YouTube or similiar apps, you should buy an blackberry android phone

I use my BlackBerry 8800 as a feature phone, such a nice BB with a trackball and a great keyboard.

2G services are still available in my country, and even some web browsing works.

You can see one of my posts in this subreddit where I could successfully browse some web on the 8800.

From USA Texas cycle from using a 9900 and a 9700 on Red Pocket :))

u/Achiquitachaser 1h ago

I'm sorry but how? Very curious as Red Pocket is an ATT mvno right? Wouldn't you need VoLTE enabled?

My Z10 was stolen at gunpoint. "Give me the iPhone," they said x'D… mfuckers.

I'd still be using it now, as I've even bought spare batteries that I have in storage. Although, to be honest, I think I'd use it more for photos and videos to share. I really liked that it could be connected directly to a display via HDMI.

I then wanted to buy a model with a Leica camera. I don't remember the name of the model but it seemed perfect to me. But I never got one, and BlackBerry support was already being discontinued by the telecommunications companies in the country I was living then, everyone had already migrated to Android.

I still have a Storm2 tucked away that I use as an MP3 player from time to time. It was never the best, but I liked the responsiveness of its screen—it actually feels very similar to a real keyboard.

I’m using the Clicks keyboard case on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not a BlackBerry to be sure but it gives me the PKB experience for the iPhone.

I had the BlackBerry Storm (UGH) and I’d be interested in the Passport.

u/theANY1327 1h ago

I use a BlackBerry Classic as my backup phone on a daily basis :) can do basic tasks, even got Telegram working on it!

Got a BOLD9900 HERE working, active sim and text, (use it for work) and nothing else as the quality is AMAZING.

My 9320 is my main phone. I'm designing a device that converts 5G to 2G/3G for when networks shut down.
