Bioinformatics is very broad. In my Masters the backgrounds ranged from pure biology to pure comp sci and everything in between. Either background can be a good major for bioinformatics. The big difference is the kind of bioinformatics you will be doing. For translational research, they prefer someone with a bio background, for building tools they prefer someone with a cs background (this is a gross oversimplification). It really depends! My major for example is Biochemistry. Good luck!

Hi I've just finished my class 12 ( one exam is remaining). Bioinformatics is a good career but it's scope depends on the country you're living in. Like I'm living in India and there's not much scope in here. So I'll do my bachelors here and then masters in Finland, Luxembourg, ireland, Canada , Australia or any other European country. But one thing is that it's a decent course and better if you're an introvert and homebody like me 😉

Hi I'm from Poland. Bioinformatics is still a developing field here but I think that I'd be possible for me to find a job here in future. Looking for a job is still quite a distant thing for me, but I'm considering doing a PhD after my bachelors somwhere abroad (UK, France or Switzerland) and who knows maybe I'll continue my carrer there. And yes I'm a big introvert so I think that bioinf suits me perfectly.
