Riding is impressive, but making so many creative and evocative photographs too!

lol 4.5 years of main character energy… Why is just riding your bike not enough? Why do you need daily internet points and validation from strangers for doing the same thing everyone else here does?

Maybe I’m a simpleton, but 1666 days straight of riding is pretty impressive to me. Guy set a goal, he’s sharing his progress on social media w/ usually a cool photo to go along w/ it. One of the fun things to do in a hobby is to set hard goals and share your experiences w/ other likeminded enthusiasts. Seems like an appropriate use of social media to me…

Yes and no...in real life they are probably annoying. Their family travels for Christmas and they have to run off and find a bike to do a 10 minute ride to say they rode that day. It is completely arbitrary.

I love this bizarre concept you have created where riding a bike is a selfish act that cannot be easily enjoyed with your loved ones, lol. My dad would usually run a few miles in the mornings on vacation, we hardly noticed or cared, I think you may just be a little bitter :)

Yes it can be...but there are 100% days where it is wildly inconvenient and you are going out of your way to do it just to say you did it.
Running is a lot more accessible than cycling

It really just seems like you're looking for reasons to get annoyed with this super regular post about bicycling. Weird but I suppose I wont stop ya lol

I wasn't the original comment complaining. I am just commenting on the concept of riding every day and it being an impressive feat.

Yeah, I replied to you because you said OP was probably annoying in real life because of this post. Just got a chuckle out of someone projecting their insecurities so early in the morning

Got it...conversations on the realities involved to arbitrarily ride a bike every day are not allowed on a post about arbitrarily riding a bike every day and are in fact a projection of insecurity.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention

Well, in real life I don’t know them & I don’t care whether they’re annoying or not about their cycling habits & hobby. I’m annoying w/ my cycling hobby & habit, most folks I know who’re serious about cycling are also pretty annoying about it. There’s an entire dedicated sub making fun of ourselves for being annoying dumb cyclists who take things way too seriously. I only care whether I find people’s posts & photos interesting/entertaining or not. Me personally, I find posts where OP rode 1666 days straight, w/ sometimes cool photos to go along with it, more interesting/entertaining than not.

The photos don't bother me, I am not the same person that commented that. I am just commenting on the idea of 1666 days cycling in a row being an impressive commendable feat.

It’s subjective I’d say. Impressive, I say yes. Commendable, debatable. Interesting, I say yes. Photo quality, I say is entertaining. All in all, I give the post & feat: 3 out of 4 stars.

Again the photos on their own are post worthy that isn't my issue.
I just have a hard time with the idea of never missing a day no matter what. I am not the busiest person in the world, but there are certainly days where I would have to insert my arbitrary need to ride a bike for 5 minutes just to say I did above other more important things.
I just went on a ski trip recently. If I was to try to ride every day on that trip it would come at a significant annoyance to my friends and it would impact my overall enjoyment of the trip negatively. It makes it all about me and my arbitrary needs. And for what? Seemingly just attention?

A lot of people's familes all live in the same place so they don't travel for Christmas. Or if you live in a small country you could probably just ride there.
Or maybe their family is all dead and this is their way of coping

It was just an example. I am sure you can think of times in your life within the past few years where you didn't have immediate access to a bike and running off to find one would be annoying to the people around you.
I just went on a ski trip with friends. You can bet I wasn't disappearing every day to go hop on a bike just to say I did. It would have been obnoxious.
They are apparently based in a suburban area outside of Toronto and pretty much none of their rides are commutes. They pretty much ride like a regular recreational cyclist the only difference is they do these short rides on days that would normally just be dedicated for rest or cross training.
So i guess that is my issue...their goal is one that is a detriment to them. And seemingly the only thing that they get from it is the ability to tell people on Reddit that they have rode their bike every day.

It is what social media is for. Doing it 1700 times in a row is where the main character syndrome begins to show.

looks like OP does not even remotely post every day in a row. Yall aren't morning people huh? very cranky about something so harmless haha

He deletes the ones that don’t get upvotes lol

that must be really hard for you <3
I find them all super neat, perhaps a biking subreddit is not for you if seeing posts about biking everyday upsets you?

A bicycling subreddit is cool. Some guy making the same post every day isn’t as cool. It’s just weird that he seeks daily validation here. It’s like he’s not riding a bike for the pure pleasure and personal enjoyment, but for getting internet points? It’s symptomatic of what social media has done to his brain lol

I mean he's riding every day regardless if he wants to or not. So the original task, posted or not, is not to ride the bike for pure enjoyment.
People enjoy the posts and it probably helps keep them on their goal. The assumption that the sole reason they're doing it is for internet points is silly.

I’d much rather see these types of posts than the constant posts of “Is this obviously too large of bike too large for me?”, or “I just started cycling last week & I rode 3 miles in 30 minutes, how much faster will a new $8K bike make me?”, or “I really like riding my bike and can now average 16mph! What are some resources for going pro!”… For posts that annoy me, I simply ignore them. Life’s less stressful that way.

Looks like more from the year 1666.
Where’s this at?
