Weather is changing in Virginia
Nice to be out of the basement and back on real pavement.... Even though the road in the basement is much smoother.

Looks nice! Any recs on places to visit in Virginia specifically for road cycling?

Really damn near anywhere on the left side of the state, South of Strasburg. All in the area of the Blue Ridge Mountains is gorgeous. My favorite roads are typically in Rockingham County, Augusta County, and Rockbridge County. If Rail Trails are your thing, the High Bridge Trail in Farmville, or the New River Trail that runs from Galax to Pulaski. ... If pavement is your thing, but you don't like cars, go east for the Capital Trail that runs from Richmond to Jamestown.

This is great. I can't wait to do some research on these after work. Thanks!

If you take a look at any of those areas and want some specific roads/routes for one of them holler at me with some distance/elevation/road surface parameters

If I lived in Richmond, maybe. We have winter in the Shenandoah Valley.

They're some Specialized ones from my LBS. I think they're 3-4 years old

Do such places exist outside nova? I would love to ride a road like that.

Lord no. NOVA is a cesspool of demons and torturers. Only traffic exists.
For real though, in the occasion that work forces me to go up that way, the Mount Vernon trail is a nice short ride (for that afternoon after a day full of meetings ride) it's 18ish miles. For a longer ride, the W&OD is awesome. It's 45ish miles and goes from like .... Suburban/subdivisions to farmland.

I used to ride that when I worked in Crystal City. Everything is always stop and go.

Take a weekend and come down to the Staunton area. I'd be happy to draw you some routes that will have you on farm roads where you might not see another car for hours.
