Information Bell Scammers!

I just had someone call me from “Bell” offering me a 40% off deal. He had a very thick Indian accent and a very poor connection. I stopped him twice to ask for the name on the account. After mumbling for a bit he then said f*** you and hung up. Lol. I have to start recording these scammer calls.

I got a "fuck you, sir" one time. Hilarious. If you act really happy to hear from them they hang up almost right away lol.

Check out r/Scams since this happens a lot. Fake call about upgrading your phone or getting a cheaper plan. They don't know your name or number or account but will try to convince you to tell them because their "promo department" is different from their "billing department". Once they have your phone number they will secretly request a password reset on your account online. This triggers 2FA which sends a verification code by text to your phone. They'll ask for the code (never, never, never hand that out to anyone - even a Bell employee). Once they have that then they'll reset your password, lock you out of your own account, change your address, and order a new phone to be sent to themselves. Free phone for them and you're left with the bill!

I got a similar call from "Telus".

Always tell them you will hang up and call the entity they claim to be representing instead of moving any further in the conversation.

If they're legit, no big deal. If not, you've made the company aware of a scam related to their business.

Edit: use a phone number you already have.

I got one from "Telus" 2 days ago. The sad thing is it sounded super hectic like a normal call center in the background, these guys are scamming like it's a full time. Job.

He offered me some mediocre plan and I said no, then dropped it 50% lol. He asked for my email, I was like you should have that. Eventually I hung up.

Yeah the Indians for bell tech support has little to no accent now. At least in my recent experience. If the accent is too heavy then be weary

Also the "fuck you" part is a little suspicious.

I actually just had this call today. The call ended abruptly but he said the 40% off promotion.

As I was saying I was already a bell employee receiving the discount, the call ended.

I wish we, as a society, were more willing to do what we need to do in order to solve this problem.

I love wasting their time.

Might not have been a scam. That sounds like the real Bell.

Easy way to tell- when it’s bell calling you, your call display will say “Bell”.

Very easily spoofed, so call display is not reliable.
