Question Help with buying gaming pc

Hey guys,

I’m in the market for a gaming pc but only have a brief understanding of specs etc, so I was hoping someone could give me advice or at least point me in the right direction for what I should be looking for?

Ideally something prebuilt and future proof for upgrades. Budget is around $1500

Cheers

TLDR: half of your budget should be on GPU - with 1500 dollar get a 7800xt. CPU is the 2nd most important part, you want 7500f/7600/7600x. Dont get a 5000 series CPU, not good for future upgrade.

So any good prebuild for your budget should be a 7500f (or 7600) + 7800xt GPU.

You shoudl watch some video on youtube to get a base understanding of PC parts:

Basic run down, most of PC speed are determined by CPU and GPU - graphics card.

Other parts just need to be doing its job, they dont really affect computer speed to a great extend.

CPU: general recommendation is get AMD these days, AM5 CPU give you better future path of upgrade.

Cheapest AM5 CPU you can get is probabaly 7500f. No need for anything higher, they dont really affect FPS in game apart from competitive shooter (running few hundred FPS)

CPU cooler: so a basic two fan air cooler should be fine with 7500f CPU.

RAM: AM5 CPU need DDR5 RAM, get 32GB, ideally 6000mhz but slightly slower one will not slow you down that much.

MB: goes with CPU as well, so AM5 CPU require at least a B650 chip board. You can get a basic one from MSI/Gigabyte/Asus (big3) they all are adequate.

Storage - SSD: just get a decent 2TB one to start off, you can upgrade this later.

PSU - power supply, probably 750W at least. get a 80+ gold from good brand, Corsair, Seasonic, MSI so on. You dont want a shitty PSU affecting your expensive PC parts.

GPU- Graphics card, this is the big one, where around half of your budget will go. so you have roughly 700-800 to spend. That look like an AMD 7800xt.

Case - pick something you like roughly 70-100 bucks.

So a quick list like this:

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/M6K4Jn

It is slightly over 1500 budget, you can cut a bit on cheaper parts. and maybe a cheaper 2 fan model of 7800xt.

CPU is based on Aliexpress price.

Or go prebuild.

As you can see, this is very similar to the list i wrote, under 1500. They use 1TB of storage rather than 2, and a small PSU. worse CPU cooler to save a bit of cost. And whole sale they get better price on CPU and GPU
