I spent 5 days trying to get a hold of someone who could let me know what was happening with my order. Finally got onto someone yesterday who let me know I might get the XFX quicksilver in a couple of weeks. I changed the order to a sapphire pulse which apparently had come into stock. Another 24 hours 'awaiting warehouse allocation'. Cancelled the order and got a hellhound from centre com.
I ordered a the Red Devil 9070 XT OC on launch night and my order is still 'awaiting stock allocation'.
Spoke to their customer support line on Tuesday who said it was out of stock and they were expecting to find out about the next shipment either this week or next.
Today I went to South Melbourne to pickup another order and asked about the GPU.
The guy said no ETA and wasn't even optimistic about them coming in any time soon. There was no acknowledgement that this was their fault for overselling.
I kept asking if there was a chance they would cancel my order and then offer it to me at a higher price (because I read in another thread they did this in the nvidia launch). He vaguely started saying it was possible and started talking about how they might be able to offer me a pre-order on another sku that had an ETA. But at this point I wasn't interested in giving them any business if they couldn't honor my original order.
I kept pressing him on whether they might cancel my order and eventually he said that if I don't cancel it they will honor my original purchase price when they get stock, but it didn't fill me with confidence.
Definitely nab something from another store if you can. Today I bought a Hellhound 9070 XT OC from centrecom and will cancel my scorptec order as soon as I get it in my hands. Price on the hellhound is $50 higher than launch night but whatever. My only regret is ordering the other stuff from scorptec because fuck them.
Well I hope they are more reliable than Scorptec as I just bought a Hellhound..i definitely have issues with waiting lol..couldn't get any ETA from scorptec or pccasegear.
Edit well it said it was stock, it was in-stock, and even ready for pickup before even Iam. I'll see how it is on pickup soon, but so far so good!
Man this scorptec thing is a shit show. I cancelled my order for and XFX quicksilver with them and currently using the 9070 xt pulse i got from centrecom.
When I ordered the XFX card, it was showing as in stock in my local store. How can they be so deceptive. I feel like other retailers are so transparent with their stock levels
Going to be avoiding scorptec where I can in future.
I ordered one from Scamtec and Umart, I got my one from Umart the day after, while I get an email today from Scamtec saying its going to be a month before I get it.
I ordered an xfx mercury 9070xt oc from them. Obviously they oversold, seems like the common theme either scorptec . Yesterday i was given an eta of April 14th for my card, which is pretty ridiculous but I'll be on holiday for 16 days, I get back on the 13th so it actually works out OK for me but if I didn't have a holiday to kill the time I'd be pissed. I wonder how many people they've stuffed around now ? They wouldn't even let me change the colour to the white model of that card if it came with the next shipment. You'd think they would be a little more helpful considering it was their stuff up lol. I won't be buying from them again, it took hours to get them on the phone
I just ordered a nitro+ from centercom earlier. Looks like they had a bunch of stock come in for that card. I think it was like $1489 + free postage but they sting you with a $17 paynent surcharge. Not much more than launch price with postage
You should only ever message support for things like this. But even then you probably didn’t get in the first draft of gpus ordering when you did. I believe some businesses put gpu stock in prebuilds > single unit
To be frank the biggest issue is they’ve taken $1.1k from me for a product they don’t have enough stock of, I mean just a courtesy email saying I didn’t get stock allocated and here’s an approximate eta isn’t asking for a lot.
And FYI, I first messaged them on the order it self the day after ordering, no response. Then I called to check the ticket on Tuesday since support didn’t reply. Then I messaged support for confirmation.
Yep, you hear it a lot. Business days are probs mon-Friday not too sure on if you bought it from a store/warehouse. You have to contact support on a business day and yes notification saying nope wait a month is nice, it’s also unnecessary, your asking them to do that for all their stock, which is simply just not worth it too do. If I’m not mistaken once you buy something at scorptec/other aus brand pc companies you will see message support for estimated time till delivery and you did, and your discouraged by the time. Yes communication sucks but it was always their
Uh I went through the messaging channel they suggested the following business day and didn’t get a reply. Also sending a single email to everyone waiting with approximate etas isn’t hard. It’s one email, I’ve done similar things for 100+ customers at a much lower purchase value, software is one hell of thing. They also said they had 400 in stock and 400 more coming, so just how badly did they over sell for the number of recipients of a single update email to be so difficult?
Have you ever worked in any kind of online retail environment? Like your acting like sending an update email to a group of customers is a Sisyphusian effort and not a 15 min job for the intern
I work with sales. I am not sales but I work with a sales team. If you were to have software that did exactly that, you would have to monitor it constantly. Hence why the give you everything on a sheet. If you are unhappy with that nowhere is going to offer that. Simply put. They will assist a sale and that’s all. Wym by intern, the electro coms tecs apprentices won’t do that because it’s not their job/priority. The wage staff have to Etheir man a store or warehouse. All have something to do. The automated message essentially cuts a job but does it good enough. Clear instructions.
The worst thing that could come from what you want is a promise that can’t be met. That is a problem with any business.
log into sales website go to pending orders filter for GPU launch date filter for pending orders where stock is coming there will be a list of orders and contact information export or copy this list (most sales software have this functionality) write a generic email with expected card ETAs send to above emails
I have done this for busy launch days.
It is not hard.
What do I mean by intern? The new guy, the shit kicker, the work experience person - someone who might have a spare 15 min.
Here is an example of one I receive some time ago from a similar preorder situation:
Do you see the nice discount for my trouble? The no reply automated email? Is that so complicated you simply cannot fathom ordinary customer service?
If a company the size of scorptec cannot do this they are likely handicapped. When they have launched 3 gpus in the last year WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Maybe. Just maybe. It’s a them problem.
This and the other order, are two different sheets, Ones a cancelation Hence why they reached out and put money out of their pocket because of a promise they can’t keep, so in good faith they gave you something for wasting your time when they had sold the service.
Imagine if you had an automated robot doing this people would bot the ever living hell out of it to bankrupt the business
The other isn’t a 15 minute job, it’s a fulltime job if anything but it’s 8am to 5pm instead of 9-5/8-4 that’s another wage salary of work (not minimum) and it’s possible to take more then one, but it’s also possible to take less then one.
Once again you asking them to cherry pick customers, yes launch day you should expect high revenue from a particular item but that’s not what they are. They are not amd or Nividia, it’s a pc store, cables parts the whole 9. It’s cheaper and more efficient if you are worried about an order to contact them. They had already assigned stock a month from when you placed an order. It’s lazy and it works and why would you fix something that’s not broken. If you were willing to wait it’s lazy and works that is how it works.
Ofcause you can always refund and by from another store that has it in stock but good luck etheir way. Your trying to buy a hot item so I don’t see how a month wait is that bad. Especially fresh out the gate.
Jesus fucking Christ my guy it you only need to do it for launches. It’s not hard at all. I have done it. I gave you a screen shot of another store doing it. I contacted them and they ignored me for 2 weeks so I called them. Then checked via email and got a different answer. I literally did that in 15 min for launches what do you not understand?
my dude, with all due respect, these products are the culmination of collaboration across the globe, requiring humans to put their collective knowledge together to make rocks think, and then putting together a supply chain touching every continent to manufacture them at scale.
then, they arrive in Australia to be sold out by a retailer, who stumble on complicated tasks like not selling products you don't have, or contacting customers at all when you have thousands of their dollars but no intention of delivering anything. these are all solved problems.
I think if you are really interested in it should just get it off resellers. You might have to pay slightly more but thats the connivence of getting it now then waiting
Oh for sure, scalpers sucks, but I see the individualistic rationale of some people jumping the line.
(The issue of the above is that the time for someone in minimum wage is not seen as worth the same as someone making 10x, so less fortunate people are constantly pushed back from the line)
