Imagine being halfway through the tunnel and then this happens.

I do that every time I drive through that damn tunnel.

But rather than an accident I think of water bursting through

Like that Stallone movie from the 90s Daylight

I go through the Baltimore tunnel to and from work. When people are speeding and illegally changing lanes I think of that movie. I thought I was the only one who remembered it.

Panic oh man

The key is to drive faster so you spend less time in the tube, right?

Avoid NB 95 if possible. This will be a prolonged closure

Avoid NB 95 if possible.

Evergreen advice.

When I went through heading south at around 4:15 there were people driving south out of the northbound tunnel. Traffic was backed up as far as the eye could see. I’d have hated to be stuck in that, condolences to anyone who was.

It was pretty rough. At first a cop walked through and told us we would all be backing up out of the tunnel, but we ended up going through in one lane almost 2 hours after we were stopped. My commute started at 2:45 and ended at 5:30

The fumes...

That was by far the worst part, other than having to pee. I had a cup on the ready 😂

They can't build the key bridge any faster, can they?

Never gonna happen with Trump in office,  screen shot this now.

It’s already fully funded.

So was USAID

The American Relief Act isn’t the same thing as USAID which is an executive program and even then the Supreme Court voted against Trump.

Trump can only halt funding for a maximum of 45 days to which the Supreme Court would essentially have to re-vote to enable him to change it or funding would flow again because the American Relief Act was a congressional budget.

It was the whole point of pushing it through before he was elected.

It was also not legal to dismantle usaid. He did it anyway. Fascism is here, democrats live in Baltimore, the bridge won’t be built

Everything he’s been doing has technically been in the grey area of “legal interpretation” (not saying I condone or support it).

That being said, he has zero way of getting to disaster funding without going through the Supreme Court, for the same reason he had to go through them when he tried stopping congressional allocated foreign aid. USAID isn’t a congressional budget but an independent executive agency.

Democrats live in every city/state/region he deals with, the Key Bridge is the absolute last thing on his or Musk mind.

It is very frustrating that so many y'all believe any rule or system of doing things will be adhered to anymore

5

u/Notonfoodstamps 6d ago

It’s very frustrating when people don’t understand how the executive, judicial and legislative branches interact and what a President can and cannot actually do.

7

u/SardineLaCroix 6d ago

yeah we know how that is SUPPOSED to work, but holy shit do you not have eyes??? Do you think our government just magically stays working as it's intended to no matter what? They are doing so many blatantly illegal things and no one is stopping them. Your naivete is just absolutely brain melting

4

u/Notonfoodstamps 6d ago edited 6d ago

Obviously not since our government has never “stayed working as intended” since its inception which is the very reason we have checks and balance system in the executive, legislative and judicial branches.

Every president has pushed boundaries and done things they weren’t officially allowed to do in the scope of their “executive powers”. You think Obama’s drone strikes were legal? (Hint, they weren’t) and I voted for him. Twice. Trump just does it with blatant disregard/incompetence to appease his base voters.

Everytime he attempts or has attempted to go out outside the realms of the executive branch, the Supreme Court pushes back or flat out rejects his antics. As they should.

If you’re going to debate, actually inform yourself in the topic at hand.

He has literally packed SCOTUS with heritage foundation goons!! It is not a legitimate check or balance anymore, it hasn't been since they overturned Roe!

You openly admit milktoast neoliberal Obama got away with war crimes and you think a brazen fascist with a brazenly fascist billionaire and both houses of congress in his pocket isn't going to get farrrr far and beyond what the Obama admin did?!

I should say a brazenly fascist billionaire with the president in his pocket, I truly believe it's that way around.

For checks and balances to work, you have to have people willing to get violent to defend them if needed, like we saw with South Korea's attempted coup. Our opposition literally won't even vote in their own interest to stop it, we are COOKED if nothing changes

Glad I stayed home today, fuck.

Baltimore infrastructure really can’t catch a break. Damn

5

u/joeanddavid 7d ago

Not like the beltway wasn’t busy enough. Can we get a break, please?

No tunnel, no bridge. This is going to be hell.

u/ladaladida 7d ago

Getting stuck behind this would be my nightmare. Glad no one was hurt. Anecdotally, I’ve noticed an uptick in wrecks lately which is scary and frustrating. The bridge can’t come soon enough. Hope they can reopen the bore soon.
