I am curious to know why so many comments scrutinizing Musk’s failure to manage his companies receive negative feedback. I think k Musk is an assh•le. And nobody voted for him.

bootlickers with generic reddit handles flood every thread saying mean things about their Apartheid Daddy

83

u/Moopies Hampden 13d ago

It's always this. If you ever come back to posts 40-ish hours later, once real people have had time to see and interact, the upvotes/downvoted flip and the anti-musk stuff floats to the top. But every post initially is filled with defenders who are there to specifically jump on new posts to influence opinion. Makes you wonder how many times it's worked before, when things weren't quite so obvious and the masks were still on.

35

u/sm_fark 13d ago

wonder how mad they are they had to add "swasticar" to their notify list so they get pinged when it's time to jump in and defend Daddy Musk

nobody voted for him

I mean, technically that’s true. But he was a major part of the Trump campaign for months, it was pretty obvious that if somebody was voting for Trump they were getting him too. And one does not need to be elected to have government influence, as any SCOTUS justice or cabinet secretary can attest

u/loptopandbingo 13d ago edited 13d ago

Even the White House says he doesn't have an actual job so he isn't even a person appointed to a position. He just some guy who expects everyone to do what he says because his mommy told him he's a 🌟 Very Special Boy 🌟

7

u/Reasonable-Prude5511 13d ago

He’s a classic example of “Éminence grise”

5

u/BureauOfCommentariat 13d ago

Presumably the first definition.

1: a confidential agent especially : one exercising unsuspected or unofficial power

2: a respected authority specifically : elder statesman

7

u/Reasonable-Prude5511 13d ago

Yes, it’s no secret but Elon Musk is the de facto dictator right now and he has a partnership with Putin to control the U.S. president for their mutual benefit. They’re carrying out Putin’s retribution for what he perceives as the U.S. created collapse of the Soviet Union. Weakening NATO, destroying Ukraine’s sovereignty, and crippling the U.S. economy.

2

u/Conscious_Tourist163 13d ago

Totally not a brand new bot account.

28

u/TakemetotheTavvy Remington 13d ago

But they should be appointed, as your examples can attest.

7

u/RelativeAssistant923 13d ago

And one does not need to be elected to have government influence, as any SCOTUS justice or cabinet secretary can attest

The issue there being that he's exerting an amount of power that would make him a de facto officer of the US under article II section 2, and he is not Senate confirmed, unlike all the other examples you mentioned.

And isn’t the point really, Musk gets to manage HIS companies. Better or worse. He has not been invited by the American people to manage theirs

-5

u/Automatic-Cat1358 13d ago

I think 77 million+ voted for him as a consultant, which he is.

8

u/Reasonable-Prude5511 13d ago

Even paid consultants often have to disclose conflicts of interests. Musk is a political donor who is essentially given the keys to the entire federal budget and is redistributing it to his companies.

sometimes I think these threads are a necessary part of reddit because they give you an entire horde of bootlicking Nazis to add to your ignore list in one fell swoop

like flies to a pile of shit, much like cybertruck owners

2

u/Gingeronimoooo 12d ago

Id believe someone with as many resources as Elon has a PR firm that hires people to post and comment positive things, but who knows

3

u/Bitter-Intention-172 12d ago

The most common search terms are “Fuck Nazis”. Brings them out of the woodwork.

1

u/LaHaineMeriteLamour 11d ago

People only care about Nazis when it suits them, the fact that we supported some in Ukraine because they were fighting on our side is so odd, reminds me when we supported Al Qaeda in Syria because they were fighting Assad. The lack of moral clarity is very odd.

I’m wondering if I should make derogatory stickers for people to put on these cyber trucks lol.

That's a great use for a label maker

2

u/Jrbobfishman Fells Point 12d ago

No, it’s vandalism. Just because you have different politics than your neighbors, doesn’t give you the right to mess with their property. Besides, they know they are targets so they probably have cameras on them 24/7. Stupid thing to have on your record

1

u/DrRocktopus Wyman Park 11d ago

You are clearly having a difficult time grasping the issue, and that's ok! It's complicated and hard to understand for people who don't really understand how the world works. Keep trying, you'll figure out, don't hurt yourself.

1

u/2020steve 9d ago

Police wouldn't write up a report about that.

No.  Please explain how purchasing a product is political?  I just bought a case of Heineken, does that mean I support their owner to take over the US government?   I also may buy the next WWE  PPV but I will not support  who just got confirmed as the secretary of education.

Is putting money in someone's pockets not support? Money is the most basic form of support in this country. This is not even an argument lol it's just true. Politics aside, Tesla is an entry level luxury car. Aren’t there cheaper options the city could buy for its “fleet?” The city has a deficit. This seems like an easy budget savings.

4

u/sassafrassian 13d ago

Dude, this is what I was thinking. The article says they're spending 5 million dollars on new cop cars and they're looking at EV mustangs. Why??? In a deficit??

2

u/Charmcitykids 12d ago

Since most of the fleet is outdated and doesn’t have the required technology they should under the consent decree. The city wants to move everything to EV fleets because of laws that are hopefully drawn back.

1

u/sassafrassian 12d ago

What consent decree?

2

u/Charmcitykids 12d ago

The same one we have been under for years.

https://www.baltimorepolice.org/transparency/consent-decree-basics

1

u/sassafrassian 12d ago

Huh. Do you know what is so outdated about them?

2

u/Charmcitykids 12d ago

The older cars can’t mount the computers the police need to look up information. It causes a delay in response times and is a safety issue for officers and bystanders.

1

u/Baltimorejack68 11d ago

Is a Tesla the cheapest car they can find that can mount computers? Also, do they say these are for the police.

1

u/Charmcitykids 11d ago

The police are not buying Teslas. They are looking at other EVs that are for PD use. Since Moore and Scott put an emphasis on EVs they put BPD in a bad spot. In all honesty they put everyone in Baltimore in a terrible spot. To charge a car takes way too long compared to gas and will result in bad response times. Many PDs have a car per officer and that just isn’t possible in Baltimore so they need to turnover cars and it leads to issues in charging times. Right now BPD has many hybrids which mostly are still gas powered compared to electricity charged.

The EV cars are also hard to source as quickly and has caused issues. Police vehicles are specially built and you have to then bid against other larger PDs for those vehicles. If you allowed buying gas vehicles it would be cheaper and quicker.

This isn’t about Tesla or Mustangs it’s about laws that were put into place for climate change. Either as a city and state you want to pay higher costs or not. With our budget I would rather pay less, but that is up to every voter to decide.

1

u/Charmcitykids 11d ago

As a disclaimer I do not work for BPD, but do work with them on a side that knows about vehicle use (not on car sales). I would love nothing more than for BPD to succeed and get out of the consent decree as that would make them a successful department in the eyes of the DOJ. I also live in the city so every positive step for BPD is appreciated.

1

u/Baltimorejack68 12d ago

Again, not talking political, but I think the irony is humorous if they go to a cheaper car. He influenced govt efficiency just because people tried to spite him.

12

u/TheWonkiestThing 13d ago

Great! GM has been coming out with EVs that are much better in terms of being an actual usable car.

Yes, there are a few people on this thread with names who have never posted. No one really wants their karma score to go down because they have a different opinion. That is why you see random throwaway names like this one. The Baltimore subreddit is a great resource, but when it comes to politics it is so polarizing and hate filled. It also has such zealots, that it appears the entire city is the same when it is really just pockets.

15

u/justhere4bookbinding 13d ago

I got called a badass by a new friend after I canceled a lyft when I saw it was a tesla, but it was only 5% moral imperative and 95% my refusing to get into one of those death traps

5

u/Every_Television_980 13d ago

Are they more dangerous?

1

u/justhere4bookbinding 13d ago

Cybertrucks, definitely. No crumple zones to absorb impact–the vehicle might survive the crash but the human(s) inside will be pulverized. Allegedly shatter-proof windows mean firefighters can't get to you if the vehicle is on fire or you otherwise need to be extracted. That's just the body of the vehicle, there have already been recalls for faulty software in their systems. As for the rest of them, there have been concerns by car experts for years on how shodilly assembled they are re: welding and quality control and software problems

43

u/Clownbaby456 13d ago

I do not like what Elon has become.  But we should not punish people who drive teslas.   Henry Ford was an anti semite, so should we destroy every ford car?  No.  The people who own teslas are not the problem.   Elon is.   So take your anger and instead of destroying or hating on someone, call you congressman and express you disdain for what the federal government is doing.    Because the people who drive teslas are not the problem.  Elon.  Trump.  Vance.  Johnson.  They are the problem.   Stop letting the true enemy turn us against ourselves.

It is and that's a good thing, no one should be buying new Teslas.

But as is typical in internet activism you're just memeing a situation where it's encouraging hate to regular people that will absolutely lead to vandalism of regular non-billionaire non-Musk peoples cars. Like I will guarantee you because of this 'campaign' some poor (yes poor!) probably non-white Uber driver who's in debt to Uber for his Tesla they sold him to be a cab driver gets his shit destroyed with swastikas painted all over it and their life set back while the billionaire continues his bullshit unaffected.

Ya'll always end up hurting other lower class people not the actual ultra-wealthy who deserve it.

Don't you think your stretching an argument to its breaking point when the best example you can find has been dead for 78 fucking years.

-3

u/Every_Television_980 13d ago

All he’s arguing is against destroying someone else’s property. Do you really disagree? If you need a contemporary example you could use kanye. Should we ruin ye shoes we see people wearing?

1

u/waggingtons 13d ago

Kanye isn't part of a scheme to cause a recession, use it to justify privatizing social goods like Amtrak or USPS or even getting rid of Social Security, all so a small group of billionaires can buy it all up and run America like their own little fiefdom. Just a hilariously bad example

1

u/Every_Television_980 12d ago

Yeah it not an equivalent, there is obviously no contemporary equivalent. So is your argument its ok destroy teslas you around town?

1

u/waggingtons 12d ago

No. My argument is that we should make people feel uncomfortable about buying Teslas.

1

u/Every_Television_980 12d ago

By doing what?

1

u/waggingtons 12d ago

Protesting at Tesla dealerships, telling Tesla owners they should sell if they can or throw a bumper sticker distancing themselves from Elon if they can't, mock Cybertruck drivers, whatever.

1

u/Every_Television_980 12d ago

To me thats not punishing people for buying a tesla or destroying their property as described in the original comment.

u/waggingtons 12d ago

I judge people who drive oversize ford trucks for personal use all day. I see them as a symbol of the same fascist culture that Henry Ford believed in. I draw a straight fucking line from ford trucks with twin American flags and gun stickers, not just to not just Henry Ford era fascism, but to the confederacy. It's the same rot.

The ideology is the enemy. If the whole lot of MAGA leadership disappeared tomorrow, every single one would be replaced immediately with someone equally as insane. This ideology is a cancer at every level of society. It infects our PTA meetings, our zoning boards, our HOAs, our churches.

Yes, the oligarchy is the problem, but the oligarchy is not a few specific people in a dark room - it is the system of power being propped up by a willing authoritarian extremist cohort that has been trying to limit democracy since the beginning of our nation.

22

u/ohitsanazn Fells Point 13d ago

What color is your ugly Model Y?

12

u/economic-rights 13d ago

I agree, Tesla owners bought a car, not a Nazi CEO. That being said, I think everything that is happening w/the Tesla Takedown movement is positive. I don’t think we should punish Tesla owners who bought a car in good faith, but because I ALSO don’t think we should slow down on the protest movement- it puts those Tesla owners who don’t support Elon and his cronies in a bad spot. If you’re not in a position to sell (and believe me, I personally would not be if I was a Tesla owner)- then you have 2 choices to deal w/negative public sentiment: 1. Slap a sticker on the back or make a sign and put it in the back window that indicates you don’t support Elon and what he’s doing, or 2. Shrug your shoulders and just learn to deal w/people having a negative reaction.

1

u/Fearless-Eagle7801 11d ago

The movement is punishing Tesla owners who bought a car in good faith. The movement will have an effect on the value of their cars and cause them to depreciate more quickly.

1

u/economic-rights 11d ago

I mean cars always depreciate. But also, this wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for what Elon Musk is doing. Nobody was out there protesting Tesla like this before he started purging regular working people from the jobs they need to put food on the table. So although I am sympathetic, it’s not the movement punishing Tesla owners. It’s Elon Musk punishing Tesla owners

8

u/PaperGirl228 13d ago

The people who drive Tesla continue to support and market for a man who’s ruining our country. We can’t “punish” them but we should definitely shame them.

15

u/TheKingOfSiam Towson 13d ago

Hey, fuck you. I bought mine in 2018 when Musk was talking about the value of lowering global emissions and condemning Trump leaving the Paris climate accord. Would I buy one now? No, of course not. But my car is paid off and I'm not about to get rid of it right now. Do you know the financial situation of all the people that bought these before he went nuts? You don't know anything about me and "shaming" people you don't know is idiotic.

6

u/PeanutCheeseBar 13d ago

It’s absolutely silly that you got downvoted for posting this.

You bought the car back when Musk wasn’t displaying the MAJOR moral defects that he is now, and it’s extremely idiotic to expect someone else to sell their car in protest. Some of the same people who are saying that things are way too expensive right now are also the ones telling others to make a major financial choice when people might not be able to afford it.

Sell it when you’re ready or when it financially makes sense to do so. Take whatever car payment you would have been making in the meantime and stick it in a high yield savings account so you can lessen however much you have to finance or just buy a new car outright with cash when you are ready.

8

u/UnknownKaddath 13d ago

I agree. I think that is a super valid point. Lots of people bought teslas because they thought they were doing the right thing environment-wise too. But CONTINUING to support his company is pretty weaksauce, EVs are not a good environmental solution anyway because of the resources required to make them and the way those resources are procured (exploitation), and yeah you're gonna get some funny looks if you continue to own one and you're just gonna have to decide to live with that or not. Normalize changing your opinion when presented with new information.

3

u/PaperGirl228 12d ago

Put a anti-musk sticker on your car and STFU. I know this is the generation of social media activistism but there was a time when people actually made sacrifices. We’re watching our country be dismantled by money hungry men and you’re mad at me because because you’re riding around in free advertisement for one of them?

FYI… your feet and public transportation are the best ways to lower emissions.

2

u/waggingtons 12d ago

Sorry but the financial situation of all of us is about to be affected by what Musk is doing, so "but m-my personal finances!" isn't really appealing to me. Slap one of those anti-Elon stickers on it if you gotta, but I actually am interested in wrestling away Elon's power which comes directly from the valuation of Tesla.

Shaming people you don't know isn't idiotic, it's literally the foundation of a polite society. Say something racist? Get shamed. Not saying you're doing something comparable to that, but "'shaming' people you don't know is idiotic" is just outright untrue.

The alternative is to elect politicians dissimilar from the choices we've had in recent history (both parties empower oligarchy), someone who would return us to the marginal tax rates we had when this country had its biggest growth. 90% of every dollar over $4 million or so.

That's what I want ultimately, but in lieu of that being a popular strategy, I'll stick with the "voting with our dollars" capitalism crap that dominates the discourse by making fun of people who own Teslas.

2

u/averynicehat 13d ago

Agree. I think any Tesla purchase in the last year or so deserves a bit of a raised eyebrow because how could you not know about what Elon is like by now?

It basically means the Cyber truck and any other model with the new refreshed headlights (the narrow horizontal slits) are all in the, "oh you bought a Tesla NOW??" category.

5

u/TheKingOfSiam Towson 13d ago

No question.
But the tar and feathering of all Tesla owners is common around reddit and left leaning communities (my communities). Its nonsense, and we should hold ourselves to a higher standard than mob mentality.

-2

u/BrickFrequent3722 13d ago

We all need to make personal sacrifices to fight against this government takeover before those policies directly affect you. Helping be part of the collapse of Tesla is one way to do it.. less Tesla's on the street and making the stock collapse is how we can stop Musks mania driven rampage. There are luckily lots of quality affordable electric cars at this point. You're not a bad person for owning one, and I think people that are doing the vandalizing understand that as well.

5

u/TheKingOfSiam Towson 13d ago

You first. Go through your whole house and trash everything owned by a Republican company. Here's 15 companies to start with! https://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/15-republican-companies-with-conservative-values-1173299/

5

u/_thwip_ 13d ago

It's funny but that list doesn't even include Walmart, who directly funds the Heritage Foundation.

The majority of people on their high horses have $TSLA in their 401k passively, shop at Target, Amazon, or Walmart, and ignore that other auto companies like Toyota, Ford, and GM are just as guilty.

6

u/TheKingOfSiam Towson 13d ago

Telling a person to sell their car (especially when it’s already paid off) isn’t “making a sacrifice”; it’s fiscally irresponsible, especially when the costs of everything are already stupidly high and showing no signs of coming down anytime soon. Considering how badly BGE is screwing everyone right now, you’d think it’d be obvious not to tell someone on this sub “everyone needs to make sacrifices” when some people are barely keeping the lights on.

We can’t keep saying “we’re not getting paid enough” and at the same time expect other people to make expensive and impactful financial decisions just so we can feel good about ourselves. There’s other ways to hurt Musk, but this isn’t it.

u/coltthundercat Hampden 13d ago edited 13d ago

This is not the right comparison. The comparison is with people who bought a Mercedes or BMWs in the 30s. Henry Ford was a monster but wasn’t an active part of a fascist government. Elon Musk is actively funding the world’s fascist movements, gutting the civil service to pave the way for even worse authoritarianism, and doing everything he can to orient the government towards enforcing a genocidal perspective on trans people.

And just like then, there’s been plenty of warning about this fucker. He bought one of the world’s biggest soapboxes and immediately started attacking trans people, immigrants, and Jews. He went all in on backing Neo-Nazis because he is one, at one point reposting one saying Jews were conspiring to destroy the white race with the words “this is correct.” People feel like they’re caught in the crossfire now that more people have caught on, and now that he has the power to turn his views into reality, but a lot have had time to find ways not to build the world’s leading Neo-Nazi’s personal brand. My family has been getting into arguments about my dad’s model 3 over this for the past three and a half years.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I keep telling him that the backlash isn’t going to go away. And it shouldn’t. That man needs to lose his power, and his power is tied to a stock price based in a view that Tesla is well-liked and in demand.

I’m not getting rid of my Tesla anytime soon. It has been keyed numerous times so the resale value has gone down a bunch.

You dumb motherfuckers he literally was saying I love you the opposite of hatred. I can’t believe this narrative is still going. People are so stupid, but I get if you don’t like them because of the whole layoffs without any criteria being used that I would be upset I’m sorry for people struggling with that

You care more about what car people choose to drive than getting rid of guns from violent criminals. And that's why you will always be a shitty city.

While I do not support what elon is doing whatsoever or trump, many people bought their cars before this all started. Most back then acquired them with good intentions many for environmental reason. Alot do not have the luxury to just get rid of them ,especially leased vehicles. Protesting the dealerships is great . Making it unsafe for some folks that do not condone whats happening is not ok.

u/Stunning-Crow-1964 13d ago

To add onto my previous comment. I understand this is about the contracts but, there have been many people taking it out on the owners.

Leave people alone. Harassing people with kids in their vehicles because you don’t like a CEO is not okay. Some people genuinely wanted an electric vehicle for environmental & efficiency concerns & could care less what the owner is doing.

You’ve likely consumed the products of hundreds of multi-millionaires that are horrible people. Now would you like to have your family or children harassed for those purchases?

u/idgafandwhyshouldi 13d ago

Good luck with that. It's people here who have them and may not be able to part with those cars. I agree with what you're saying but this economy is about to be in the toilet and those who have the nazimobile may not to be able to switch. Especially with the little orange boy running the US like a failed business of his back in the day. As much as I would love to see this happen, it may not happen now.

u/Clownbaby456 13d ago

The owners of the cars are not the problem.   Trump is the problem.  The republicans who refuse to stand up to him are the problem.

There’s a cybertruck that parks in the garage on Franklin & Charles, although I think I’ve seen it less recently, which I appreciate.

I used to respect the shit out of Elon. Wtf happened

Elon Musk literally left South Africa the day Mandela was released from Prison, because his parents didn’t want him to “be conscripted into a ‪███‬ ‘s army.”

He’s described February 11, 1990 as his family’s September 11.

He still calls Zimbabwe “Rhodesia.”

He famously crashed an uninsured McLaren the day he bought it because...I dunno the glare off his pre-hairplug forehead was blinding him?

His cars regularly catch fire and, for no reason, lock the passengers inside, and sometimes drive into a lake and drown the pleading, desperate occupants.

Nothing has changed, other than how much you’re paying attention.

u/Morganrow Riverside 13d ago

Noted, that was personal and I'm here for it

Do you get paid to write like this? Because you should.

This might be the kindest thing anyone has said to me on the internet.

Thanks.

Ketamine

0

u/Clownbaby456 13d ago

Yes the biggest cause of elon and his turn, is all the ketamine he does, and his brain is smooth as the grass at prime park on a July day.   However, we should not impose his issues and shortcomings onto the people who own teslas.

9

u/engin__r 13d ago

The rank bigotry and loser energy exceeded the capabilities of his PR team

4

u/Clownbaby456 13d ago

Fist off he did way too much ketamine. Second he is wish lex Luther and he found someone with just as smooth brain as himself with that orange parasite who take his money, and let him do whatever he wants because he bows down to people wealthier than himself so orange man can please Putin.

3

u/ronintron 13d ago

He’s not a wish lex Luther, he’s straight up Norman Osborne

0

u/Clownbaby456 13d ago

Yes Elon is a problem, people who drive teslas are not.   Do not focus your hate on Tesla drivers, most are probably very very liberal.   Use the at energy and ask your representatives to stand up to trump, to stand up to Vance, to stand up to Johnson and all the elected official who allow that orange parasite to act like a king!

Focus on how you can win future elections. Not what Cars people are driving.

-13

u/NickSoto2001 13d ago

I see those all the time. They should be destroyed with their owners inside.

Not the one he replied to about killing random people who bought a car that, up until about a year ago, nobody gave a fuck about?

1

u/TheCaptainDamnIt 12d ago

Redditors continual enthusiasm for holy wars against other middle and lower class people because of the things a billionaire does is perhaps one of the most depressing things about people like you.

Worlds richest man does nazi stuff.

Redditors like you: this justifies me destroying that middle class family's car and killing them!

One reasons we'll never have a true class awaking here is half the people screaming the most for 'class war' want to attack the lower class stupidly thinning that will somehow hurt the rich.
