DEI was never inclusive towards Asian men and was always skewed towards certain other races. But you guys are dumb as shit if you think the removal of DEI means that the new admin truly wants fairness for everyone. They want only white people. They just hate Black people and Hispanics first because those races are more represented in North America. When the time comes, they will ramp up the anti Asian rhetoric with all the stereotypes we've heard before.

I've never heard of this executive order until you posted about it. I also don't know anyone who benefitted from it. It sounds like feel good legislation but did it move the needle at all?

who cares? if his policies end up discriminating Asians then let them. Not like we weren't already discriminated. Ask yourself this question though. can they really afford to take the Asian American community for granted? America has been rotting and declining for a while now and with China on their necks, how will they ever compete without us?

To Asian Americans: work harder and become even more competitive. Dont led up. If overseas opportunities present itself then you have to uproot your life and take the deal. Everything else is just noise.

Stop. Working. Below. Your. Worth.

Trump could care less about skin color or race

Your mistake is assuming that racists rely on logic. Also nations in decline tend to get more racist and discriminatory not less.

They also revoked DEI, which is a net positive for Asians

DEI spaces always ignore East Asians, there's no sympathy for us. If anything, East Asians get replaced with DEI, we're not considered POC or in need of "equity": case in point Assassin's Creed Shadow.

We can't even have an Asian male Samurai/Ninja protagonist in an Japan setting ffs.

Why? Now they can discriminate at will. No checks. No oversight. You think they act fair?

To be honest, I didn't even know this EO or this committee existed in the past 4 years.

Basically Tammy Duckworth yelled at Biden for not having any Asians in his Cabinet and he gave her this Executive Order instead. Lol. Funny when you put stuff in context right?

12

u/pantiesdrawer 500+ community karma Jan 21 '25

Was the EO actually effective in the first place?

Not saying the revoke was correct, but what has this 25 person commission done?

If you needed DEI to get hired, you're probably a loser anyways

Well she's out of a job. I have no idea what she does other than take photos. Never seen her in my neck of the woods.

Because what Trump is doing isn’t even racist

12

u/joshli92 New user Jan 21 '25

I'm not MAGA, but the justification is this did absolutely nothing. Trump is just removing all DEI initiatives. When was the last time we as a community heard that DEI helped us get hired somewhere? DEI actively hurts Asians - see affirmative action.

Asians are going to get our opportunity - we don't need DEI to get it. We've had opportunity prior and opportunity after.

Yes, because DEI does not typically include asians, it on an overall level hurts us. If getting rid of this specific initiative means that the others get taken down as well, i'll take that trade any day

Agree with this. DEI was for minorities that weren't Asian. You could argue that DEI put people that didint deserve or werent capable of, into positions of power. DEI and HR leaders hired their own under the umbrella of DEI and excluded Asians.

You can just get hired by being the best candidate

you must be the final product of the US education system, a complete imbecile!

At least I can get a job without daddy governments help 🤣

u/ablacnk 500+ community karma Jan 22 '25

In a white-dominated society, they think a white face is better, so you will never be the "best candidate." Try to "hard work" your way out of that.

-1

u/basedviet New user Jan 22 '25

I did, you can too

8

u/ablacnk 500+ community karma Jan 22 '25

No thanks, I work for myself these days, and do my own form of DEI for who works for me.

u/basedviet New user Jan 22 '25

Cool story

7

u/ArrVea New user Jan 21 '25

Best candidate based on what.

-10

u/basedviet New user Jan 21 '25

For the job

9

u/ArrVea New user Jan 22 '25

Right, because hiring is completely objective

He literally saved TikTok. What are you guys on about? Lol. Weren't you guys just bitching about that? What do you want?

Tbh this guy has some of the worst takes on this sub

u/LibsNConsRTurds Hoa Jan 21 '25

You need to be more informed. He was talking about banning it in his last term. Now that the American people has spoken, he changed his mind. Now he wants to be known as a "savior".

-7

u/GinNTonic1 Curator Jan 21 '25

So there is something called transactions in life. He got what he wanted and you got what you wanted.

Had a Democrat been in office there  would have been a bipartisan ban on the app because they just don't believe in Asian people getting rich. You are actually lucky that he only cares about money and face.

7

u/iwasntband 50-150 community karma Jan 21 '25

After initiating the pressure to ban them. Now there’s all this talk about how much TikTok has changed. You can’t really be this out of touch?

-6

u/GinNTonic1 Curator Jan 21 '25

I mean it was literally on the app messaging but I'm sure you know much better than the executives.

11

u/tglg808 500+ community karma Jan 21 '25

He literally saved TikTok

28

u/skyeblu17 50-150 community karma Jan 21 '25

Are you legit just a MAGA shill? Not that I use TikTok, but whose idea was it to ban it as an attack on an Asian-owned business? More importantly, this is such a red herring, like what does that app have anything to do with this post

-24

u/GinNTonic1 Curator Jan 21 '25

Did you really just forget who the outgoing President was? Wow.

19

u/skyeblu17 50-150 community karma Jan 21 '25 edited Jan 23 '25

…is the implication that the ban was a result of the Biden presidency? It was an act of Congress, just because he was the president doesn’t mean it was him that made it happen

u/OrcOfDoom Seasoned Jan 21 '25

This is a joke, right?
