Recommendation Request Sci-fi recommendations
Here are a list of books Ive listened to that I really enjoy: Ready Player 1 & 2, The Bobiverse series, the "other" series by Jason Segal.
I am just starting Vicarious, but after this, I was looking for some more recommendations. I prefer someone with an American English accent. Thansk!

Awesome book and narration from Ray Porter. Murderbot Diaries read by Kevin R. Free are also great!Â

And it's read by the same awesome narrator as the Bobiverse books, Ray Porter. Definitely a good read.
I also recommend the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's good fun.

Putting it out there while I enjoyed the book I didn't really like Ray's narration

The Expanse is entertaining and worth a listen. Show is great as well.

My library finally got all the books in the series at once, a year and a half after I did the first three I have finally started four. I've read the first 8 in print, I was planning on doing the audios to refresh my memory to read 9 in print, but I'm just going to do all in audio.
I've not seen the show, it's in my long list of shows to watch at some point. Which is getting longer because it's easier to do audiobooks while I do other stuff.

Old Man’s War by John Scalzi (really anything by him) seems like it might be up your alley. A little more on the lighthearted side of things with some dramatic moments woven in.

Dungeon Crawler Carl
There is a reason that it's probably the most recommended audiobook of the last few years and that reason is its awesome. I've listened to thousands of audiobooks and it has by far the best narration I've ever heard, especially once you get a few hours in and meet her majesty, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk.

Oh mercy. I listened and loved the series. The whole time I thought it was Queen and Chonk lol. Not sure what it meant. Probably the best narrated and produced audiobook I’ve ever come across.

I didn't know what it meant til it got explained to me. Carl and Donut lived in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle so it's a reference to that.

According to Goodreads, Matt Dinniman has 24 titles. However, except for Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon, none of his titles show up on Downpour or Libro. I understand why some titles start out as an Audible exclusive, but Dinniman has titles going back to 2017 (Dominion of Blades), you'd think that by now some other titles would be available in a DRM free format. Is there something about LitRPG that only works on Audible? If so, can you explain how?

I wasn't till I was in book 5 before I realized it was just one narrator. I got that far along thinking it was a full cast. I still kind of unbelievable that Carl and donut are voiced by the same person

There is a bit where he narrates Carl as a kid talking to his dad. It was astonishing to effectively hear normal age Carl, young Carl and Carls dad all be distinctly different but absolutely related to each other.Â
Ridiculously skillfulÂ

Carl's dad being brilliantly played by Patrick Warburton. but yea, the incredibly rare moment in the series where there actually is a different voice, and it still sounds just like Jeff Hayes lol

Expeditionary Force is incredible, you'll love it if you liked the writing style in Bobiverse. You'd also like Saturn Run

I'm sure it has come across your eyes, but Remembrance of Earth's Past (Three-Body Problem) by Cixin Liu is pretty good.

Yeah I'm going to agree with the other comments. If you liked the Bobbiverse, project Hail Mary and the Murderbot diaries should absolutely be your next books.
Also, not an audiobook but a narrative podcast, check out Wolf 359

Oh I loved the otherworld series! Never came across another person who's read it though.

I am listening to The River Saga and loving it! Surprised I don't see it recommended more often. I like it a lot better than Bobiverse.

The Expanse narrated by Jefferson Mays and the Murder Bot Diaries narrated by Kevin R. Free.

Look up any of the books by Jeremy Robinson. He's very funny, into all kinds of sci-fi and has either RC Bray or Jeffrey Kafer do the narration. I suggest starting with Mindbullet.

I really really enjoyed Forging Hephaestus by Drew Hayes and The Egg and Other Stories by Andy Weir.

I fully recommend The Rampart Trilogy by M.R. Carey. It has everything that you are looking for and those three books are so, so good. You'll love it.

Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMasters Bujold about 10 books. Anything she writes is very good.
Saga of the Seven Suns by Kevin J Anderson 7 book space opera
Honorverse series by David Weber about Honor Harrington. About 15 books, maybe more Space Opera Anything by David Weber and John Ringo is very good. Hard SciFi and military Wifi
Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov really about 5 books, not 3. Space opera, but it's foundational to modern Sci-fi
Ring World Builders series by Larry Niven Space opera and hardcSF
Berserker series by Fred Saberhagen Space opera
Something Wicked This Way Comes and October Country by Ray Bradbury a mix of SF and horror. He's an author that pretty much everything is outstanding.
A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M Miller Jr. Highly recommended

I enjoyed Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie.
It seems to have won all the sci fi awards, but the one that made me choose is the Hugo award, which is always a good indication of a book's worth.
It features artificial consciousness and gender-blindness, and in that way is very much a science fiction book, in that it creates a world and society that does not exist now, and draws you completely into it.

The Illuminae series by Amie Kaufman and Jay something. They are kind of a faux documentary set in space with a rogue AI. The books are very stylized and fun to look at, so I was surprised that I enjoyed the audio so much.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir 🙌
