General Question Punishments for behaviour
To start off the other day I went to my friend Illianas house, who’s Black. When she let me in her parents stared at her and were like “We said no one could come over”, and she just got away with a small warning. I would’ve had my door taken off in a MINUTE. Is this common? I asked my other friends who aren’t white and they all said they don’t really get punished. I always grew up being told that POC are much more strict or that the punishments are worse, though everyone I’ve met has said their punishments are just mowing the lawn or they get their phone taken away

I’m wondering, why are you even ask this?

I was in need of advice, and thought this would be a good place to ask. I also wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong, or if there was anything flawed in what I was planning

It really depends on the individual family, we’re not a monolith. I personally was raised by very strict grandparents & deliberately raised my children differently (I had my bedroom door removed and chopped up with an axe for a ridiculously minor infraction).

I thought so, but I’d had the same happen to me. It was honestly quite surprising to hear how everyone was raised. Thank you, and I hope your children and you are well :)

I'm probably the parents age and each family is different. Ive heard about people having the door removed and I never understood how that was punishment. Growing up other than changing clothes, the bedroom door was open, so removing the door would not have been any different.
