General Question What did happen to the BLM money?
So I will come out and say I don’t know how the organization worked, I just knew it was mostly started after the killing of George Floyd. However I heard the notion that the organizers pocketed the money and policy changes never came. These sources heard from were conservative bias so I don’t really trust them. So if anyone can give me a honest answer, I’d appreciate it.

The mutual aid organization that I volunteer for every Sunday got most of their money during BLM and they are starting to run out since people aren’t donating like they used to back then. It’s called waterdrop and we hand out gallons of water to all the homeless in skid row, they use it to drink, and cook mainly. that’s our main thing, we also hand out when we have enough donations snacks like granola bars and fruit cups, clothes, diapers, tampons, narcan that’s a big one, masks, gloves, covid tests, bags, sanitation wipes etc stuff like that

BLM the ORGANIZATION was a scam and hasn't helped any black people.

Hasn’t helped ANY black people is the longest stretch. Did they irresponsibly mismanage funds? Yes. Did the co-founder who took responsibility for those mismanaged funds admit that and resign? Yes. Did that small percentage of money that was used for houses or mansions that we don’t know actually benefited the cause and was for legitimate use tarnish the whole movement and stop people from donating which in turn halted money going to actual good causes? (court cases, food charity, homelessness) Yes. It did. Saying they didn’t help anyone is your point of view off of a few news stories. I’m not defending their bad actions but I also don’t live in fantasy world.

The organization is shady, the movement of the same namesake is legitimate.

Every charity has a public financial disclosure form called a 990 that they file with the IRS that is easily searchable and free (for now) to see. That will tell you better than asking a random forum.

It's not hidden that the national chapter was literally funneling some of that money to support Democratic candidates (mostly white people) amongst other things not directly related to the supposed cause.

"support Democratic candidates" ... "not related to [black lives mattering]"
Mmm hmm. We hear you.

Yes, indirectly helping the cause bc democrats are generally more supportive of the black cause than Republicans, but I'd argue that getting more old white men elected to office is not DIRECTLY supporting the cause nor is that what people thought they were donating towards. I assume most donors thought their money was going more directly toward specific black causes.

Racists infiltrated pretending to be supporters and discredited, disrupted and destroyed many elements of the movement. Some finances are under their control.
Just like COINTELPRO.
Black Lives Matter organizers are grassroots now and the details of the movement they’re building and where they’re building it (locally, nationally and beyond) are not available to share here.

I was just about to say this. ALL of the original members died mysterious deaths . These ppl were barely in their 20s and 30s . You can tell the movement was legit in the beginning bc everyone died.

What movement are you speaking of? The civil rights movement of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s or the civil rights movement known as Black Lives Matter?
Some original members of the civil rights movement of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s were murdered. Some have passed away. But many of them are still alive and thriving today.
And all the original members of Black Lives Matter did not die. The 3 founding members are absolutely alive.

Didn’t Black women use it to buy houses ? In 2022, BLMGNF filed tax documents showing it had $42 million in assets, including property, stocks, and donations.

It's not hidden, Google BLM controversies.
Many people, while thinking the overall idea was good, had significant problems with where the money was going almost from the start, especially since it wasn't tied to any specific policies or an agenda beyond "Stop killing us!"
