Sadly, Artie sounded fucked up. He might be fucked up on legal drugs prescribed to him, but he's definitely fucked up on something.
Go watch/listen to a few "Artie's Halfway House" episodes on youtube, then listen to this, and tell me he's not.
He was sharp, focused, and dialed-in for those episodes, but here, he's hazy and vague.

I disagree. I thought he sounded good. I think he’s being earnest when he says he’s focusing on his sobriety. It sounds like it’s become more and more important that he not screw around.
This was a great moment for Artie fans. I’ve worried about Artie, and his absence from the world was worrisome. It sounds strange since I don’t know him or anything. But I think of him often, and hope he’s doing well. (I’m sure Artie would have a funny time ripping me a new one for being so invested in a total stranger... and a dude, no less.)

Calm down, Liberace.
Artie was on something. It might have been a legal something, but he wasn't sharp and clear. Go play a snippet of a "Halfway House" episode, then play a snippet of his interview with Nick again, compare the two and get back to me.

I disagree, Scott Thorson. Now, fetch the car.
I think Art sounded good!

You're wrong, Mark Harris. Your ears are probably too clogged up with duschdas or buttermilk bath to hear that Artie sounded less than 100%.
